Great tour of a super boat. As for the tech, if you persevere and delve deeper it will pay dividends, but for portability and ease of use you'll rarely find anything to touch the GoPro. The lens on the new setup is better and has less distortion, but output quality - by the time the internet crunches it - is about the same. I suspect that at times when you're super busy with multiple tours and lots of content to edit, then familiarity will beat outright quality. The gimbal. however, is excellent.
Agreed on the gimbal, but I did find the camera quality indoors to be particularly sweet. Makes the boat look cleaner/brighter in normally darker areas.
Jumping up to 4k would show the real quality of the camera, but I really feel most of the visual quality is already lost in the editing and encoding. The videos are quite mushy, even for 1080p. Low bitrate and/or too fast encoder?
That is really easy to answer…”You could use any gear! All your videos have been very professional and entertaining! Your speech is always clear and articulate! Toooooo many options, tooooo many brands ( not your fault) Very comprehensive tours and the Meet the Owners with their personal experience’s and views have been wonderful. I am not a camera expert but for a minute I shall be; the quality deserves positive merits when compared to the gopro the colours are far deeper. I have noticed this camera takes a couple of seconds to focus on certain bright lights but it’s not noticeable unless mentioned! The gimbal must be great fun but I could imagine weight could be an issue. The gopro had suited many needs over the years however. Either way amazing tour of a fantastic boat thanks Nick. :)
Significant improvement in the quality of the pictures and the stability of them, there was nothing much wrong with the GoPro footage of the many hundreds of reviews I have enjoyed, thank you! But you can improve on near perfection and you’ve done it. I have a similar gimbal and you can do quite amazing things with it. Thanks for everything, Peter

Really lovely yacht that is surprisingly spacious for it's length. With either camera, still the most enjoyable and thorough yacht reviews on UA-cam. Did note the movement around the vessel is quite smooth with this camera. Making it easy on the eye.

love the new rig! not that your prior videos aren't already terrific, but the different lens makes it a lot less fish eye-y than the gopro setup and it really goes a long way in making better judgments of the dimensions
Kitchen in the aft is a great idea... direct access to the rear lounge area and to the dining area on the other side. What a lovely boat... affordable (as yachts go) yet spacious and modern too. If I had a place to park it, it would make a perfect retirement home for me or folks who love the water.

Yes, we have been watching Nick 😎 I think you've always had a quiet steady hand filming, but the fancy new camera with motion steadying gimbals should help you. What a lovely boat. Surprisingly roomy for a 52 footer. Always taken by the designers fitting so much into a limited cubic foot space. Another well documented boat tour Nick. Just a joy to watch man! WELL DONE!
I really, really like that yacht. Love the way the galley is on the right instead of the usual left. Very nice, thank you Nick, take care.🤿🙏 Camera has great quality.
Very spacious for a 52, excellent woodwork, although I would prefer a lighter satin finish wood. I like the new camera setup, image quality seems slightly better, but the gimbal mount stabilisation definitely makes the camera motion smother and more comfortable to watch. Great tour as always.
Honestly Nick I didn't really notice a difference, all of your videos are ace quality. Nice family yacht for relaxed cruising and outstanding outdoor areas, that fly bridge is a stunner. Blimey Nick. That’s a massive amount of boat for the money. It’s made me think about depreciation. It’s in brilliant Nick so as to speak. See what I did there? Great video. Loving the new kit. Gimbal is a great word.
Great review as always Nick. In terms of the camera setup - if I'm brutally honest I don't think I'd have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it (given that I'm watching UA-cam on a laptop (and given your previous vids are excellent anyway)). Yes after reading some comments I do see differences in perspective, depth of field, contrast, colour definition etc. I've been doing (self-taught) photography for my wife's online shop for years, I've studied a lot and as a non-professional get good results, BUT the one thing I noticed is; when I stepped up to an expensive 'professional quality' setup it did not give me the immediate 'wow-factor' or step up in quality that I expected! Rather I had to work FAR harder to achieve the improved quality the more expensive equipment was capable of. I guess that's why professionals are professionals! Things like go-pros are very forgiving with all the compensatory/point and shoot features, and I think professional setups can often be far less forgiving as you really need to know your stuff and do more prep. In my situation the jury's still out - I can definitely get better results from the professional setup BUT I find it a lot harder and more time consuming so often go back to the previous setup for convenience. I don't historically see many (if any) comments complaining about the quality of your vids Nick (maybe other than flickering screens and lights) - but on the other hand, if you look at the other boating channels that employ professionals to do the filming you do actually see lots of grumbles around the fact that filming and artistic licence can often detract from the practical content. I guess it's a fine balance, and if you've got the time to get to grips with a new setup then great, but don't bust your balls because I'm guessing that if you gave your subscribers the choice of (a) better quality video or (b) more content (see trials, meet the owners, entry level tips etc.) then I'd be pretty sure than most people would choose the later. Cheers!
This was Way too funny. I was thinking earlier today that I have not watched a Aquaholic video in a little while. Now my day is complete. Thanks Nick! Hope to meet you someday in Miami.
Good quality video does look a slightly better colour. Now this is my boat just my size and perfect for my family. All I need is a wad. It’s a very good price as well
You were in fine form today. Ireland must have been restful for you. I am glad you did not edit out anything; it was a hoot listening to you. Another outstanding video.
Please can you show us the shower pressure in a boat tour one day? I'm always curious how good the showers are, especially on boats with multiple bathrooms. Must be some boiler system!
Depends on the boats pump. A simple pump with pressure tank usually kicks in at 2,2bar and stops at 2,8bar. Just like in a house. Flow is sufficient for at least 3 taps or shower at the same time.
Someone said it in the comment and I was thinking the same. This seems to be the perfect boat for you. The ideal middle beteween SB2 and your nice trips on the big boat wirth the family. ( in the meditarrainian sea if I remeber right). Of course it's to big to name it SB3, more like "Smugglers great Party for everyone and the Police to see" Maybe cabin three as a little office. I'm not quite sure if the new camera is really better but for me it looked like the picture were a bit steadier ( if this is the right word to choose) and a bit more suited for this kind of reviews. Maybe if you decide for the next review to parachute onto the boat or to jump with a mountainbike from a bridge onto the foredeck you better use the GoPro. But for now it seems to be better with the new system.
I think the quality of your go pro was just fine. And if you find your new rig to be cumbersome or difficult, I don't think your fans are going to mind if you switch back.
Perfect family boat at a great price. That's a lot of boat for the money. So pleased you've started to tell us the range at displacement speeds as it's definitely a thing to want to know.
I have to say I wouldn't have noticed a difference in film quality! So if the GoPro is easier/lighter, I think you'd be perfectly fine to stick with what you love. Great boat!
I didn't notice a huge jump in quality but to be honest its not the gear, its the content and the way you do the tours that are the attraction. You really are a master at using a simple go pro set up . The best boat tour channel on you tube bar none. You could film on an old Nokia phone for all I care LOL . One thing that would help is a radio mic on the owner in the the " meet the owners" videos . Then you could move the camera a bit more without losing their sound . Apart form that ? Nothing needs changing Nick !!
I honestly did not notice you were filming with a new camera until the mirror reveal. Although I did feel a little fish-eye effect and a little motion sickness while the camera was panning. A larger camera with a gimbal is also a bit cumbersome and difficult while filming tight spaces. The GoPro you use to shoot does a great job in my opinion, where the picture quality and the overall steadiness isn't affected. Also, with the new rig, you now have to charge two devices, the camera and the gimbal. But in the end, what matters most is the ease of use and your comfort. I wouldn't switch if the difference is a mere 5%. Great video as always Nick. Thanks~! :)
@@AQUAHOLIC Might want to dial back the brightness/ISO a notch or two. Some of the shots were a bit overexposed, interior shots were a noticeable improvement over the GoPro though.
Excellent video as always. The new rig is very sharp in video and audio. The autofocus seems to be working hard to keep up but a Thumbs Up for this one too. Thanks for all the work you put in to make these quality videos.
Awesome walkthrough, beautiful boat... I think the new camera setup is much better... (btw kinda spooky boat. with the door opening by itself ..hahaha..)
It’s great to see you on another Princess Nick! I must say the new camera rig is my preference. At time the lens of a go pro can leave me feeling a little vertigo after watching a walk through, especially the larger yachts with a lot of walking, but this rig didn’t give me that feeling at all. Well done again and hopefully some of that Ireland trip will make its way on the channel. I look forward to my Sunday morning Aquaholic time and today was great. Have a good week!
New camera and gimbal are excellent additions Nick. They’ve managed to get a lot in that for a 50 footer. Nice finish to everything, nice build quality
I think that's probably all the boat you would ever need Nick. Looks great value too. Big enough to host guests, small enough to find a mooring....beautifully finished inside (quality always shines through). The camera is a huge and very noticeable improvement over a GoPro, but I guess you pay for that in bulk. The zoom wasn't very strong (unless you didn't use it to its fullest extent) . Great tour Nick, a proper, elegant Motor Cruiser.
Nick, with regard the gimble, you nailed your yacht tours completely by 2019 which is why you have nearly half a million subs now. I didn't notice the difference at all but I say that only because you asked for feedback. If I ever manage to afford a yacht, one from 2015 would be just fine by me, this is a beauty.
Thanks for the tour. It's appreciated as always. I DO like that camera. To my eye it is an improvement over the GoPro. The video seems a bit more steady. But those GoPros are really good as well. No complaints either way. Good luck with your new toy. Cheers.
I have to say from the first shot, I could instantly tell the increase in camera quality and fidelity, sharper images, more detail, more vibrant colours and the colours match closer to that of real life. I'm glad it has a wide lense on so we still get the wide viewing angles. However I imagine the weight of it must be a pain compared to the go pro. The only minor issues compared to the Go Pro when viewing, is that it seems to me to be a slightly narrower view and Sony is the best in the world at auto focus, which means when you do your pointing it very quickly focuses on your moving hand making the background go out of focus, as it focuses on the hand, it's only for less than a second and isn't an issue for me. But that's it really, White balance is a bit off when you move into the inside, however that was the same with the go pro and without fiddling everytime you go inside and out there isn't much you can do except wait for it's auto settings to sort that out.
Agree completely - the weight is okay for one tour like this, not sure I'd want to do a day at a boat show with it. Also the focus thing, it's great, but it is sensitive to a hand in front. Also find the colours less vibrant (if probably more accurate, to be fair) than a GoPro. Maybe I'll use a combination of the two, GoPro for boat shows, this for individual 'one off' videos.
@@AQUAHOLIC I don't really know about Sony's stuff but is there not a vibrancy etc. settings for the video profile in camera? I wouldn't mind a step or two up if you want the picture to pop just a little bit and I assume you don't edit these videos a whole lot. Some cameras also allow you to change the auto-focus adjustment speed so it's not so quick to jump on your hand when it comes to the screen for a second. And last I would stop down the aperture or somehow change the ISO range in video mode or get a magnetic ND filter which you can pop in and out when moving from outside to inside and vice-versa. Whites are quite a bit blown out now when it's sunny.
Just gonna add to this as it says pretty much everything I wanted to but couldn’t be bothered to put in my other comment 😂 As for the colours, this camera has much more natural colours and a lot more subtlety. The GoPro looks a bit artificial in comparison, which I think is maybe what you’re noticing - the colours may look vibrant, but it’s because there are actually less of them. The autofocus is a little distracting, but you could maybe experiment with switching it to manual focus then setting the lens to infinity.
Good ol 2015, I was working at Salvation Army from 2012 to 2017 and raising my youngest son as a single parent and tough financial times, amazing I think 2015, nice boat, I was lucky we even owned a used car then, Montene Rose Daniel
As for the new camera - while the image quality seems a bit better, for me the combination of a wider angle with short-range shooting causes a noticeable barrel distortion effect (like a fish-eye). It is particularly apparent when you swivel around, and may cause a bit of motion sickness after a while... If we're keeping score - I vote for the old go-pro. Anyway - always great to see new videos from you Nick!
Camera quality is excellent, better than the go pro, slightly less wide angle so you will need to shoot some stuff from slightly further away? What a great boat, held its own over the years in terms of design and layout
This Princess has rooms : kitchen, living room and bedrooms and it is 2 bedrooms home because it has huge outside sittings. It has not got sliding roof, sanbed at the stern, crew cabin , but layout is optimal. Big storage, 2 different company can seat at the flybridge . Very practical engineereng, all clean inside. Very good example because another Princess was 850k I think and less advantages . Flour colour is - . Despite the disadvantages it should be bought.
Love the new camera, this boat is beautifully designed and so spacious, but definitely needs a hard top for the UK weather, and solar panels to run the household offshore.. I think the crew cabin would be better used as a workshop and parts storage, it could easily become a disorganised dump room as it is.
Spotless boat, you would think it was brand new, again quality shines through. Ps nice new camera kit, will you be having a whole film crew next week 😂
Thanks Nick, great tour of this beautiful Princess, well proportioned and lovingly looked after, its a great example...it doesn't show its age, looks as good as new!
Much better quality Nick, so much so , there was no flickering from the lights and distribution board shots. Everything seems crisp and clear
I thought so to. I immediately noticed the no flickering 👍🏻
Agreed, though the audio seemed flatter (doesn't accent your excitement as much)
Disagree. Camera focus is hunting a great deal more than the GoPro. Great video though and lovely boat. Thanks Nick.

Depends on the boats pump. A simple pump with pressure tank usually kicks in at 2,2bar and stops at 2,8bar. Just like in a house. Flow is sufficient for at least 3 taps or shower at the same time.
Really like this one. The new camera rig is great. Much smoother. Thanks
I did like that camera rig I think it makes the camera angles more aligned with everything else
This boat is the complete package for me. I would definitely put a crew cabin in that storage place in the back
I think the quality of your go pro was just fine. And if you find your new rig to be cumbersome or difficult, I don't think your fans are going to mind if you switch back.
Good advice, thanks
Perfect family boat at a great price. That's a lot of boat for the money. So pleased you've started to tell us the range at displacement speeds as it's definitely a thing to want to know.
The new camera is much sharper and clear! Good purchase
I have to say I wouldn't have noticed a difference in film quality! So if the GoPro is easier/lighter, I think you'd be perfectly fine to stick with what you love. Great boat!
Good to know!
Doesn't matter what camera you hold Nick, we'll follow you regardless. Thank you for what you do.
You're very kind, it's a pleasure! 🙂
You look super sharp with this new camera, Nick! Also, the sound sounds better in my opinion.
Awesome, thank you! 🙂
This boat would make the top of my list. Beautiful.
Thanks~! :)
Nice to see a boat without flickering lights ;) So I liked the camera.
Camera doing its job really well. Beautiful boat. :)
Not sure I want to buy a haunted boat! :D Love the new camera. Keep up the good work! I get to live vicariously through you! :D
Glad you like them! 🙂
The film Ghost ship...😱
@@AQUAHOLIC Might want to dial back the brightness/ISO a notch or two. Some of the shots were a bit overexposed, interior shots were a noticeable improvement over the GoPro though.
As always awesome video, loving the camera set up Keep up the Great work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The new camera gives a nice depth and makes the colors more vibrant. Very good choice and excellent video as usual 🙂
Thank you very much!
YOU ARE A CHAMP, regardless of the tech you use! Thanks for the video. Awesome boat...
I appreciate that!
Awesome boat that, Properly Princessy. Camera quality was great but it always has been. Great vid as always Nick.
Thanks 👍
the new camera provides noticeably better clarity. excellent.
Awesome Yacht. Princess fleet has always been of excellence.
Excellent video as always. The new rig is very sharp in video and audio. The autofocus seems to be working hard to keep up but a Thumbs Up for this one too. Thanks for all the work you put in to make these quality videos.
So I like the new camera - it seems to give a wider view… lovely yacht
Awesome walkthrough, beautiful boat... I think the new camera setup is much better... (btw kinda spooky boat. with the door opening by itself ..hahaha..)
Absolutely loving the enthusiasm in these videos! Keep up the good work so that we can keep dreaming!
Watched it again and I think we'll add this to our wish list as we won't be too long .. another year or so 😁👍
New camera and gimbal are excellent additions Nick.
It was a 10-20 lens, so not much zoom capacity
@@AQUAHOLIC that would explain it
Beautiful boat! Love it! Also, the new camera is great. Thank you, Nick!
My pleasure!
That's helpful, thank you
love the boat and the camera rig much better clarity
Thanks for the tour. It's appreciated as always. I DO like that camera. To my eye it is an improvement over the GoPro. The video seems a bit more steady. But those GoPros are really good as well. No complaints either way. Good luck with your new toy. Cheers.
Very nice yacht with a lovely interior. New camera rig looks good as well
I have to say from the first shot, I could instantly tell the increase in camera quality and fidelity, sharper images, more detail, more vibrant colours and the colours match closer to that of real life.
@@Thezftw All good advice, thank you 🙂
Just gonna add to this as it says pretty much everything I wanted to but couldn’t be bothered to put in my other comment 😂
As for the colours, this camera has much more natural colours and a lot more subtlety.
Many thanks!
Id love to see some vanquish boats on your channel.or vandutch or waterdream. Amazing yachts. :)
Camera quality is excellent, better than the go pro, slightly less wide angle so you will need to shoot some stuff from slightly further away?
What a great boat, held its own over the years in terms of design and layout
I love your videos! They inspired me to start my own UA-cam channel. Thanks for doing what you do!
Love the tour and the new camera. Great work.
Very nice camera set up for a very nice boat!
Love the new camera set up Nick!! Silky smooth and no flickering lights. A cherry on top of your already superb videos ! :)
Love the sharper image afforded by your camera, and it's gimbal is simply brilliant! It physically rotates very smoothly with a button, very smart.
Before you even mentioned the new camera I thought "Wow this video looks amazing!" Keep it!
I would persist with the new camera. Excellent video, and a great boat.
Yes, the picture quality is noticeably better, GoPros are good action cameras, but just as with displacement, with lenses you just cant replace size 🙂
Thanks Nick, great tour of this beautiful Princess, well proportioned and lovingly looked after, its a great example...it doesn't show its age, looks as good as new!
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Thanks Nick! Seems like the new camera is clearer than usual...
Love this boat and your new rig! Tip: tuck the cable before attaching through your button up shirt. Then it can’t get caught or in the way :)
