Thanks Baz, always wondered about these little ones, much better than expected. 👍🏻
Yep, very pleasantly surprised - throw it in a bag and go. I guess I'd like a little amp sounding like this that I could control WITHOUT an app doing it.. but... there we are.
Thanks. Would love to see a few more of such reviews. There are several ukuleles nowadays with pickups, I have one, yet I am ignorant of amps and how to use them with different types of ukulele, so these reviews are useful.
There are a handful on the reviews section on my site - maybe a couple more to come too!
There is a line out - go into setting and headphone out options and then you can select make headphone a line out instead.
I know - see the full written review
This was shockingly better than expected. Now, we need to get a Spark mini in your hands to do a review. I know you did the 40 and the To Go.
One day when I get the time!
@@GotAUkulelei bought the mini. I design a belt clip for it, it has s sweet features, i play bass and ukulele with it, the battery is awesome. Its size is a total sweet spot for portability, i like that it keeps the amp aesthetic, and the white looks so premium. The handle is so soft, etc. great amp.
Cool little amp! I read that the rubber on the back is so you can lay it down and some.."ahem" ..bass... will transfer to the furniture it's on. I wondered about using the Spark Go on a solid body instead of something like a Nova U with Acousticplus when I saw it. Thanks for going ove the amp!👍👍
I think you are right - when recording an earlier take of this it toppled back and certainly sounded louder! Would work fine on an Enya with a pickup.
What a fun toy! Could save a small fortune in pedals for home use. I don’t need one, but I want one. I can’t believe the sound from something so small.
Yeah - pretty amazing what they've done. And I hardly had it turned up!
What a crackin' little Amp! The software seems to be a lot of fun! Thanks Baz!
Hours of fun!
Endless fun with that I think! So nice to be able to experiment without having to buy peddles :-) I don't currently have an electric but now I have a much better idea what to look for in an amp when I do take that step. Thank you!
Have fun!
Great review, Baz! I have the standard Spark and love it. Looks like another winner!
Amazing that it does all the standard stuff in such a tiny package!
Got one. Love it! All the 'extras' a bit confusing but, hey, it works a treat.
Lots to meddle with!
Funnily enough I got the Spark Go to accompany my first guitar (electric) the Blackstar Carry On you reviewed- Neat little thing so thanks for putting that on my radar.
Alongside the cable lead, I also opted for a plug in wireless transmitter and receiver. While not as clear as a line, great for walking around without worrying.
Good idea!
I have the bigger brother, the Spark Mini, but both use the same app, which has a few very usuable acoustic tones for ukulele (with some tweaks to the various settings). However, my biggest issue is the lack of one of my favorite features when playing guitar with the Spark app - the guitar chords that are generated for any song you can find or even add from you're own library. There are no ukulele settings, like in Choridfy for example, where you can change your instrument so that it displays ukulele chords, only guitar chords. You can still jam along with effects but having the chords scrolling along is a nice feature that I hope they update one day to include ukulele. But, I should add, for baritone ukulele the guitar chords feature is still very useful.
Yep - should be an easy update for them
great review- here is a small tip- it's a great little amp- but ... if for some reason - you get a high pitched squeal- ( more like an air raid sound) - you will not be able to turn it off- do not beat it with a hammer- it will make it stop- but not in a good way.lol if this happens , press and hold down power button for 20 seconds and it should shut off ( if not then use the hammer- spark did send me a brand new one after that - but said i should have tried the reset. )
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks Barry I like these reviews
Very welcome
Great review Baz. Love it. Thank you .
My pleasure!
That was a very good review. I agree with what you said, that maybe some time back small amps were tinny and weak, just for practising. But this has some character to it, plus the addition of computer tech to enable backing playback or for your instrument or as a speaker, plus apps to give a wide variety of sounds and a fuller sound. Would appeal to many I guess.
Yep - I need to get into the modern world!
Thanks for the info and advice, really useful. Great review.
Thanks for watching!
Best practice amp I've ever had endless fun and worth every penny
I've had a LOT of amps - wouldn't say best - certainly in the best category for size though!
I have 3 in my family 😂 2 for the kids to use on electric guitars as they learn and 1 for me doing a bit of Uke and a bit of guitar. Brilliant for sheer portability and bedroom practice. Also you can play songs through it and play along. If youre really worried about software support you could just make aure you amend the presets to what you need and they'll presumably always be there. I use it as a bluetooth speaker as well.
Yep - find four distinct setups you like and store them. Should always stay in the device then
Nice! Thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!
Aww, fun! Just when i thought i had everything i needed, you had to show us this. Small and noisy, just like my youngest. Pity none of my kids come with an app for ultimate control though...
And a thought about Bluetooth headphones. An Airfly would probably work to connect headphones to it.
True - but would have been nicer for it to be native
I like the software. I like the sound. I don't like using it because the guitar cable pushes it all over the place and off the table or wherever I have it.
Yes it does - though i've been since told the ribs on the back are designed for laying it flat and they also increase bass response!
Wireless is the answer. Joyo makes a great wireless system. I use an Xvive that works perfect.
That’s it Baz you have sold me got one ordered
Be nice to play my Rob Colin’s tenor ukulele through it
i bought mine in white and its a stunner to boot.
I just got one, couldn't believe how good the sound quality was. My marshall is going in the trash lol
Thanks Baz. I am thinking about taking this one, kala tweed or flight tiny 6. This one is winning for the price of course. I noticed guitar chords on the screen, are they implemented any ukulele chords to it, or uke community is completely ignored?
Guitar chords only - but of course a chord is a chord. Whilst the diagrams won't apply, if it says 'play a G' then a G chord on a uke sounds the same as any other instrument
@GotAUkulele I was wondering if they implemented something for a beginners on uke. Shame
thanks for the review, I am really not having a moan but on the spark go website it say that the headphone socket is a "1/8" Headphone/Line Output" having line-out could make a big difference for some, once again thanks for the review
Yes, saw that - edited the written article to reflect that.
Bravo
Thanks!
Moveable bass bellows on the back
They look like it - but fixed - apparently they help bass when laid on back
At that price, gotta try it!
Oh for sure - i'm keeping this one!
I want one, but I don't even have an electric instrument! 😂
Fun!!
Yep!
Cute design. It looks like a plush toy of itself.
Ha ha - yes!!
I've seen this around the internet for a year or two, I really don't want apps for playing music etc... but I still kind of want this regardless! But it is kind of a bad decision to buy it if you are gonna ignore the online functions I realize. If it had more presets I could justify it. Really cool thing for people that don't mind using apps etc in their playing though, just not for me I suppose.
Yeah - the 'smart ' stuff needed pointing out. But then, so much stuff is now - and so long as people KNOW it relies on that (mainly) I'm kind of cool with it. I don't think mobile phones are disappearing soon.
thx for test, i will take it with the l. luthier tenor
I don't have a new model cell phone/device.At 70, I don't intend to get one either. I use an old style flip phone. Yep. It makes phone calls. This amp really has nothing for me.
The app makes it an instant no for me those smart devices agrevate me more than it should
You can use it without, but i do make that point. It's not like they try to make out that you DON'T need the app though - it's a smart device
Wow, Impressive . . .
LOT of fun
Absolutely useless if your uke does not have a pickup!
Ermmm.. correct. Not sure of the point you are making? It's literally a product for people with ukes they can amplify. That's like me reviewing a ukulele case but saying it's 'useless' because you play a Tuba.
Get a peizo pick-up and stick it on your uke. Sorted.
