- Yes, it's amazing that all that lumber survived that fall!
They did the entire addition in 6 working day and that included getting rained out for a half day.
Yes I did help lift up one wall!
Most of the time I was just getting in their way so I put up time lapse videos of all the work being done.
Turned out awesome.
Passed inspection so now it’s time for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. From here on out I will be doing a majority of the work so there will be more detailed videos.
Check out my latest videos for the finishes including our new kitchen which my wife love, meaning I think I did a pretty good job!
Thanks for watching! - Навчання та стиль
Came here to see if anyone else would have gone ballistic if materials were dropped off like that
I am not here to create enemies. I have had deliveries like that many times in the past myself. It’s obviously different for windows LOL
LMAOOOOOOO . i was like “👀”
I clicked the video JUST to check.. 💀🤣
I'd demand a credit. Bush league
I guess if you don’t have a moffit…. 👀
That delivery method gives a whole new meaning to "dropping off materials."
That delivery was bull crap. He should be fired
I can’t stop laughing on this one..laughed so hard I woke the wife up in the middle of the night..
If they did mine thst way they would be sending a new load
Unfortunately thats how most local lumberyards deliver. Nothing against them. Big box like home depot or lowes have the forklift but there is a delivery fee to it. Most locals dont charge for the delievery at least in my area and thats pretty much the normal. It sucks but as long as the materials arent damaged you can request some materials to be replaced if they are damaged by the drop.
Our guys would be fired, he needs to learn how to chain a load
I can't believe that material delivery. So lucky that fence wasn't destroyed, no one was injured, material was still usable. Never seen anything like that before in my 20 years as a contracto, Unbelievable!
I worked as a building material delivery driver for nearly 2 decades. Never did anything like that. I'd be pretty pissed if I paid for delivery and they did that.
my first thought was i wouldve fired them
Delivery driver: Heres your sh*t
Me: Losing my sh*t.
Owner: I'm filming a video for UA-cam
Driver: I got you
Haha right.. the only acceptable scenario
That is some crap delivery. No way would I accept that kind of service.
Holy shit. Wtf is up with the lumber delivery?
I guess they figured put the 2x4's on the bottom and let them take the beating.
🤣🤣🤣
@@-DIYPRO- piece worker
We should get the name of that company and shame them. They deserve it
Beautiful addition!!!
That driver had better have packed his lunch the day he delivers to me like that.
My younger brother says that same exact thing and I still have no idea what it means
@@lumberjaketreeservicellc4002 : lol... It's referring to @Brandon Coile fighting the driver. And since he's apparently a tough guy, that driver better have "packed his lunch" cause the fight is gonna last a while.
@@TrailTrackers it’s a joke, not D***. Try not to take it so hard.
@@BlackMountainCycles : LMAO... I don't take anything "hard" in these comments pal. I have no idea who you are, nor do I care. It won't make any difference to me at all if you live or die today or the next. I was simply responding to @Lumerjake Tree Service LLC's comment. Try to have a thicker skin and you'll do much better in general if you quit making all those assumptions. BTW... What does D*** mean?
You took it like a dick pal@@TrailTrackers
If my material got delivered like that, the driver would be picking all up by hand and reloading it. I'd reject the whole damn thing. Ridiculous.
He has been waiting for the whole morning , no one showed up and no forklift ! Now he lunch 🥗 time ! Here’s you go ! These are all your orders. Have a nice day !
🤣🤣🤣
Very efficient team all of you!! One week! Great job!
Thank you!
@@-DIYPRO- how much was for the family room size? I want that size for a bathroom combine with a bedroom.
Imagine all the jacked up corners on that osb after that delivery. Yeah let's spend 5k on materials and trash it all on delivery. Lord have mercy.
Damn that delivery is exactly how I dump trash everyday 😬
What was the total cost to do the addition?
Drivers like, "F^$% it, your not building a piano boys!"
Nice job I’m in Vegas you do additions out this way
This isn't my full time job just a fun summer project!
Can you please tell us the rough budget of this build? Thanks
50000
Thanks for posting this video. It was great! I didn’t like the way the wood was dumped though... ahhhhh.
You and me both!
I haven't seen this kind of delivery method even in China for 20 years.
😆😆😆
Good old tender loving care for the materials.
I had to rewatch the first 20 seconds about 12 times because I couldn't believe it hahaha
Interested in the load bearing wall removal and span. Anymore detail or footage on that process?
only 2 2x4 under that beam supporting the entire roof system o.o
WOW!!! HUGE addition!
Yep, almost doubled our sq. ft.! We love it.
@@-DIYPRO- what did the addition cost you, if you don’t mind me asking? I just bought a house and want to do something similar.
@@HawkGTboy 80k, keep in mind that was during 2020 prior to the crazy material price increases and inflation.
@@-DIYPRO- So, $160k in 2022 dollars…
@@HawkGTboy sad but very true
I am a GC here in FL. If my materials get dropped like that, I will make sure that the driver gets fired, but that's after I dropped him on the floor the same way he did with my materials.
This is what I want for my home!
It's crazy we started 2 years ago, we still love what we did so I'd say go for it.
Hope this is not a to invasive question but can you say what this cost ballpark, I want to do this to a home I am buying for my wife and I?@@-DIYPRO-
@@rayheath3086 when I tell people they don't believe me so keep in mind this was 3 years ago, prior to inflation and material hikes. It cost us 80k, and I did a lot of the work myself.
Wow this looks amazing amazing looking job so far
Delivery was so nicely dropped , i almost feel my leg hitting someone's butt hard...
I never thought these words would ever come out of me but that foundation is beautiful. Lol
Right on, thanks!
@@-DIYPRO- I'm six inches from pulling the trigger in my own 500 sq ft addition. How much did this beauty cost you?
@@easypimpin123 we were about 950 sq. Ft. Total cost was 80k. Keep in mind that was 2020 before labor and material cost went up and I did a lot of the work.
Very cool video!
Glad you liked it!
Wow.... be taking that shit back and bringing me new stuff.
Yea, didn't start the project off too good!
Great delivery if your making toothpicks or matches. But at least they should have some salvageable doorjamb shims.
I dont know what was more sketchy the unloading or the pulling the truss up. 🤣 either way good work!
My favorite part of the whole video was the first 15 seconds
Mine too except it was my lumber so not as much fun, ok I cried.
What is the size of the room? Im looking to build a 16ft x 16ft room.
The truck driver was either the contractor or the homeowner.
Or the homeowner's ex.

@@weezychildz8090 😆😆😆
Pretty tricky roof tie -in nice job. What size and material was the header over the large opening window? I love the size of that.
The window had to 2 by 12 LVL beams.
Would have been better to remove the old roof and design new trusses specially for the new roof.. bigger attic space that way as well
WTH! I’d be reading that delivery driver the riot act!
Holy crap! You about doubled the size of you house!
Not quite doubling the square footage but the rooms that we are it definitely feels like it!
Amazing
Thanks
That’s the right way to dump materials it’s fast and easy time is money here
Awesome job. I bet you are loving it! Is the whole house finished now?
Almost!
Was hoping to see more of the roof tie in
Yea, too much to show in just a quick video.
I've had material delivered slightly like that. I put a 2x4 through the windshield when they tried to drive off after I told them I wasn't accepting the delivery. Schmucks.
Should have done that!
Business policy: If we don't have it delivered to you in 20 minutes, your delivery is free.
Delivery: we only have 3 minutes left!
How do you put the I joists on the beam? Tapping screws? I'm doing the same addition
I had 9" joists and my beam was only 8". I put a 1" board on top and hung the joist hangers on that. To quick of a video to show those details.
How much square footage did you add? Can you share about how much it cost to add space to your home?
We added almost 1,000 sq. ft. I think it was 960 to be exact. I have more videos showing the finished addition. We were right at about 80K. Keep in mind we bought most of the material prior to the crazy material increases. Can't say what it would be now.
Driver overslept this morning and realized shit I need to make up some time here lmfao..
0:10 "Ok. Here's your stuff... Buh bye, now."
can we talk about that lumber delivery hahahaha. how drunk was that guy? hahaha
I know, right!
Seriously!
Is that normal?
i’da been pissed!
@@axm203 absolutely not normal haha. my guy uses his forklift to take off my lumber and set it down where i need it. just like most respectful/professional lumberyards.
Can you use osb for a roof ridge?
You can just attach another roof section to a previous roof like that? Im definitely no contractor so i have no idea about any of this but that blows my mind. I would have thought the old roof on one side would have to be completely demo'd. I didnt think you could just join right into the old beams. Gnarly.
Most definitely. No need to demo anything that doesn't need to be.
Awesome work. What is the name of the company who did the work?
Did the same driver deliver the windows?
awesome, would you tell me how much this kind of extension costs??
And that's how lumber gets delivered Ladies and gentlemen.
Very odd they had a vapor barrier inside but no house wrap on the exterior. Did you see the water damage once they pulled down the vinyl siding? If the house ever goes on the market better hope someone like me isn't looking at it cause i check attics, crawl spaces and material behind the scenes with my inspection camera. The home inspectors told me i should become one
That's how it used to be done up north, at least where I'm at
I'm looking to doing something similar with my roof line with that type of addition. What was the cost of that if you don't mind? What an awesome house......i hope yoe're enjoying it!
Material for everything was $7,500, crazy thing is it's more than doubled this last year.
Crazy!
How much was the cost for this addition?
Was the 7500 just for the wood material? Curious as to what the block cost.
Очень бережно сгрузили материал. Почти как дрова.
How much the project cost ?
What a fricken hack dumping the wood off the truck!
Did You said, Drop the materials over there. Hold my beer.
haha, yep!
Adding on to a starter house... I'm sure the HOA was surprised and took forever to decide if they would let this happen since its probably the first time they've ever faced this question
Is everything HOA where you’re from? Where I am there are none
I don't imagine this would ever fly in am HOA dictated area.
@@Jdogg4089if the plans look good they want it. HOAs main objective is maintaining home value and making it better.
@guindoni899 same, here on long island very few HOA homes. Maybe .5%
Is there a name for this style of “Addition” (by extending the roof)?
I live roughly 50 miles east of Los Angeles and definitely need this done to our 980sf home. By adding an extra 1000sf more, it would help with our tight living conditions. Any guess on cost range for my area or would it cost less to go the conventional way by simply adding to the rear and go out?
With lumber and labor being crazy in 2020 I'd have no clue. Most builder give free estimates. Wouldn't hurt to give a couple a call.
prob 50-100k. Depends on materials, labor, finish. That's obvious. I don't live in LA, so I'm not quite sure. Maybe a 20% increase? So like 60-120K?
1k square feet is easily going to run you $80k minimum and being outside of LA i wouldn't be surprised if it was $150k.
Consider building up or down instead of an addition.
The potential additional cost is negligible if you are already spending so much and you actually gain SQ ft on your property that way rather than lose yard space.
@@Luckingsworth thanks Jon. I’ve also thought of adding up above our garage as a single rental unit. Like the “Fonze” 😆
@@robhtp3817 I know thats a really popular thing to do in some of the more crowded cities. It might not be a bad idea.
Omg I would be so mad dropping off materials like that!
If my delivery guy dumped my house on the ground like that I’d make him pick it back up and send it back.
I had to rewind the video and I thought it was a joke on the delivery method. Can't believe this delivery person still employed after this video
The crazy part is they make deliverers like that all day everyday. I only had 1 osb chipped corner.
they build outer wall with 2x4? never saw that in Canada
You said it, Canada it would never fly. If it were a new build they would require 2x6.
As a delivery driver myself. I'd never drop a load that way.
I should have gone with you on this one!
If the lumber yard dropped lumber on my job like that someone is going to fix it and get an ass chewing .
Maybe the delivery driver heard you were going for such a rapid build. He decided to go ahead and get rid of the banding around the material for you. He also put a little twist in each board to make it easier for you to pick up.... The only explanation I can come up with!
Топовая разгрузка стройматериалов 😁👍
Is it difficult to remove the walls and rewrite and plumbing
Totally depends on the person, if it's your first construction project then yes it will be difficult and I'd highly suggest having someone there that has done it before.
If that were my shit he's dropping off like that...he would be reloading that shit and head home!
Great job, where r u located?
Utah!
How much more would it cost, if you had built a basement instead of crawl space for the foundation?
I need those guys to build an addition on mine
I got lucky and found amazing framers.
Thats really nice
Looks like they were a day behind the rain. Hopefully not too much got in before they finished.
It dumped on us. We had a ton of water come into our kitchen and the existing portion of the house. It was in the summer and it dried out really quick.
@@-DIYPRO- It seems like all my outside projects get rained out. Mostly cuz i plan them during storms so i don't have to do them.

Pretty rough delivery. Wet osb? Also wet osb put down still wet. Also plywood should be used for floors and roofs osb if dry is o.k for walls
Nobody used a level lol just kidn. Great job. Km a builder also
Yes the material drop off was terrible, but I’m curious how much did it cost to get w bare bones addition like this?
Had a driver drop lumber like that once.....it was 10 x worse.....had them come back and hand stack it
These framers did more in 6 days than the guys that framed my brothers addition did in 4 weeks. Seriously, a small dining room and with a patio cover, with a gable roof tied into the existing roof.
Hey we did our best stop bashing us geez

I recognize that Jeep in the background 😂
I talked with him about that, I didn't know his jeep was that famous from the top!
One load, that material should have been banded all together. Dumping that load is like something from a Three Stooges film
Lmao the delivery

What are the cost to do an addition like this one?
Over a year ago when we did it (prior to all the crazy material highs) it cost us 80K
Cmon- after laying out all those I joists for floor they did not even use a uniform 16-24 o.c. spacer block for the center of the runs. New codes are making the j bolts larger diameter. Joists do & can float.
NOTE According to the International Residential Code (IRC), joists with dimensions less than 2”×12” (thickness× width) are exempt from blocking (Bridging). However, joists that are larger than this need blocking at a distance of not more than 8 feet. Blocking at 4 to 6 feet is generally preferred by various contractors. Feb 6, 2023 Looks like > 12'-15' span.
Noted!

You want just framing cost or total for the addition? Just framing labor and material for our 1,000 sq. ft. addition was around 15,000 - $18,000. I'm in Ut. Not sure where you are but lumber prices have skyrocketed, i bet it's closer to $25,000 now. If you can wait til they drop again.
