I showed my younger sister Godzilland, she cried because of how adorable the designs are. Godzilland was honestly something else, I've seen like 4 of the episodes on UA-cam, I would have loved something like that as a kid, but hey, I guess I'll stick to dinosaur train :/
I always admired Godzilland for its cute and simple style. It absolutely blew my mind to see Gamera kaiju drawn in the style! (Even if the guide was unofficial) 16:47 Interestingly I tend to have ideas that if I were to bring back Godzilland in terms of merch, I'd make it exclusive to places like Hot Topic, Boxlunch, and FYE (as some Godzilla merch tends to be). In terms of the show, I'd make it stray away from its educational roots in the OVAs and make it an action-comedy adventure show instead.
Fantastic video MIB! I'm familiar with godzilland thanks to a friend who showed me the 1990 ovas and I really like it! I never knew the series has *THIS* amount of merch during the 1980s, like WOW!!! I would love to collect some of these!!!! Looking forward to the 1990 era of Godzilland!!!!
Outstanding retrospective MIB, with so many items i’ve never seen before! 😳 Eagerly looking forward to Part 2! 😁 Also, I think that may be Dogora @ 15:42 😉
I like Godzilland because imo its balances the cute roundish aspect and actually looking like the character in question. Like if I showed someone a picture of Godzilland Godzilla they would know it was the Big G, versus Chibi Godzilla I'm willing to bet a lot of people would have no idea who he was supposed to be (assuming they had never seen the designs prior)
Your enthusiasm for Godzilland is so infectious. I would absolutely bring it back if I could make that call, probably with art more in line with the 90’s era, since that art is a bit closer to modern sensibilities, though I wouldn’t want to change very much at all. Godzilland is already the cutest of all the SD Godzilla stuff. I actually think the recent Chibi Godzilla stuff is pretty alright, but none of those designs are anywhere near as cute as Godzilland.
Awesome showcase man! This art style is adorable and cool, I like the crossover one the most with Gamera. At 12:10 it looks like Bulma from Dragon ball is in the female Godzilla suit lol
I remember seeing Godzilland for the first time in middle school and thinking it was fan made, until I did research on it and found out it was official. After that I really wanted to get at least one official Godzilland figure, still looking but hopefully I'll find one.
Erasers erasers...I went through and found erasers for Godzilla, Zonefighter, Megaloman, the Ultra series up until Tiga, Mirrorman, Kamen Rider series, Gamera, ... Now I'm learning about Gojirand Erasers? Any chance you can upload that map you featured at 16:00?
I'm rewatching these and just blown away by how much you work you put into these--and how much money must have gone into collecting the goodies! These are just so awesome, man.
3:03 YAY! A Kinnikuman shout out. Anyway, I'd imagine that if Godzilla has a dedicated land for him and his monster friends to play on, they would have giant monster sized versions of what humans play with. I always love that 1980's Chibi/Gag manga style artwork. There's something magical about that 1980's anime aesthetic that draws me to to that period.
Oh my god, they are so cute I can't handle it. I MUST have plushies of them. You better hope I never meet you face to face MIB, my wallet is gonna be a lot lighter thanks to you jerk XD
Yes more Goji history!!! Love your vids and could you do one where we see Titanosaurus mess up the timeline and almost destroy existence in an alternate universe?
I found out about Godzilland through you when you discussed the Chibi Godzilla line that took it's place, but as for how I'd revitalize it, I'd probably include more lessons, including "Egaite! Subarashii! Iro" [Draw it! Lovely! Colors] which is a color lesson. Heck, at first I was appalled from the sheer cuteness, but I've grown used to it now!
1:19 Irrelevant but man did the 80's miniatures kick ass. Nakano and Kawakita were on fire in G84 and GvB with those night scenes and perspective shots, plus those "modern" cities were so meticulously crafted. Imo the set quality following GvKG wouldn't be that good again until the Millennium films
Thanks so much for sharing your collection like this! Godzilland is so cute and charming; its vibrant colors and overall fun vibe is really inspiring. It would be awesome if the new US Godzilla store capitalized on this and offered up new merch 🥺
Man everytime I here the Godzilland Intro I get sad cause I think of my dad who passed away due to liver cancer. But then I get happy cause i remember fun memories. It’s also pretty catchy
OMG! The erasers remind me of the Muscle men I had as a kid...I want all of these. All these toys make me pine for the knee high Godzilla (vinyl) toy my ex found at a thrift store once. Unfortunately, he got lost in a move, which is sad, because we were planning on making a mini-Godzilla fan film since he's also a Model train person. We had amassed a huge amount of toy soldiers, vehicles etc. as well as a bunch of tiny dino toys.
At 12:58 that is the same game as GODZILLA on the gameboy, but colored and obviously not on the game boy. Will this be acknowledged on a future episode?
The gameboy game is actually a sequel to the MSX one, he talks about it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/mG_l6BHRKwU/v-deo.html In his twitter he recently came across some Godzilla manga in the style of the gameboy game (the japanese version that is).
I can respect that you didn't stoop to making the cliche and overused jelly donut meme. Also it's interesting to see that a couple images of Godzilland Ghidorah has a similar depiction of how post Legendary KotM Ghidorah has separate personalities for each head...
I honestly like the Gojirand style. It's simple, but still recognizable and overall charming af. If I were to be the one to bring back Godzilland/Gojirand, I would absolutely do it in the style of a comedic slice-of-life style series with room for the occasional monster rumble (but nothing too serious).
14:04 Using my patent pending bootleg technique, I was able to get ahold of the pattern for this. Now while I don't have the original fabric, I can hook you up with a plush!
I wish I were Goji-pilled enough to get what the fanart at 16:38 is depicting. Is the guy on the right... the villain of that weird creepypasta about a licensed game? That raises my questions further!
10:34 i know what he actually means by "hunting them" *BUT* i can't get the image of MIB in a jungle just mercilessly shooting tiny little chibi kaiju with a machine gun out of my head
I really dig the Godzilland style, it is so simple, and child friendly, but if you have a clue on the characters, you can tell it's them. It is really well done, and adorable.
I would love if toho is gonna do some more chibi merchandise for Singular Point and Shin. Something is always so cute about making something very scary evil looking to something very cute
14:59 There is actually show that was based off of that character in that card It's ultraman kids if you didn't know it was a special tv short that aired around 80s and it became success leading to the sequel series in the 90s The episode right here ua-cam.com/video/xWZUw-ioGM8/v-deo.html
All I can think of about a Godzilland animated revival is having live action footage from the movies as gags like in Muppet Babies. Like if two characters start fighting harmlessly, flapping their arms with their heads turned at a safe distance, they IMAGINE the fight as one from the movies.
Those characters do look cute. I'm glad that Toho didn't forget the younger fans of Godzilla in 1984. Now I have to come to grips with the fact that I not only share my birth year with Godzilla's epic return to film, but also...These chibi guys. :D :)
I know this is off topic, but have you heard of a game for the 3DS call attack of the Friday monsters: A Tokyo Story? Since you're a Kaiju fan, this game might be right up your alley. In fact, you should do a review for the game!
Godzilla movies may go on hiatus but Godzilla toys are forever.
bandai just announced another monster arts lol
and a jet jaguar last week

Stop making your sister cry. XD
Chibi forever!

Compare that to the new Chibi Godzilla, which looks like a broccoli and bear hybrid. Not that I hate that design, but I’m just pointing it out.
Your enthusiasm for Godzilland is so infectious. Can't wait for Part 2!
So if Minilla is in this, are he and Godzilla the same age in the Godzilland universe?
Is he Godzilla's little brother in this version?
My theory is Godzilla is an adult in the 80s (even when he goes by "Gojira-kun") and a kid in the 1990s. Minilla was scrapped for the '90s reboot lol
Wow!!!!!!!!! what kind of pictures MIB?😏😏😏
I wish I were Goji-pilled enough to get what the fanart at 16:38 is depicting. Is the guy on the right... the villain of that weird creepypasta about a licensed game? That raises my questions further!
