You Sir, are a life saver. I've spent hours searching for a basics tutorial on Krita, just to find out how to move and manipulate pieces of my digital sketches and this is the ONLY one I've seen that has actually explained how to do so. I'm sure that most digital artists take these tiny things for granted as general knowledge, but for someone just starting out in digital drawing and new to Krita this is super helpful. Thank you so much for this video. :D
So. Cool. Thank you so much for leaving this comment. I remember what it's like to just be starting out. Everyone says they wanna help, but skip so much stuff. I always try give even the littlest (to most people, silly) tips and controls - to help ANYONE and everyone. Thank YOU for watching :)
same for me. I can't really afford photoshop by myself right now and all tutorials (except for yours) is out of date or too complicated for my simple mind. ;-;
Me too and I was searching before this video was upload
Aw man! @Gaming 360, just seeing these! :o I hear that! I can't afford anything either :D Plus, Photoshop is an unecessary piece of work. It DOES have a lot of nice features to help workflow, BUT you can do ANYTHING Photoshop can do either in GIMP or Krita with a little effort. Even if I was a trillionaire, I wouldn't pay monthly to use ANY program.
@@TutsByKai I miss the days of being able to own my own copies. I'm still using intuous 2 tablet, because I can't stand waste.
After a few months of struggling: Buys pen, tablet and downloads Krita.
Me then: Let's draw! :D
Also me: Opens krita
Also Also me: How to circle?
also me: this comment is to long for the format
Me right now. No f idea how Krita works
kkk also me!
Step 1: Draw a face
Step 2: Erase the details
Done.

TutsByKai You look like a fun guy, and you replied to a 7 months old comment, you earned my sub
Well thank you very much Padoru Padoru
as someone who's having her first contact with digital art, this video saved me months of confusion
I got my first tablet yesterday for Christmas and downloaded krita to use, this helped me so much :)
Dont worry, I'm sure you'll get there if you need any help I can try help
I got mine for Christmas too😂
What one did you get, i got the Huion Inspiroy Dial
I got a XP-pen artist 12, so I have a small screen
@@Jess-jh8ml oh thats cool, i thought about wanting one with a screen, but since ive never used a sketch tablet before, i thought it was a good idea to start off simple
@@xxcrypticxx3806 Ye, I saw one with a screen and I said I wanted that one for Christmas but nearer to Christmas I said I didnt mind if it had a screen or not but I got the one I saw origanilly, but ye so I've got one with a screen. I try to not look at the screen sometimes to practice without it cause it's good for hand eye coordination
I just got a tablet for Christmas today thank you
Same here😇
Same!! 😁
same haha everyone
Same :D
Congrats you all! I started digital art by getting a tablet years ago. Dont be intimidated. Mess around. Have fun! Theres so many colors you can use. Like... all of them. Haha.
I thought it was said “kreetuh” lol
it is
It is, it just depends on the person
Nope. Most people *tell* me to say Kreh-tuh - like that's the "right one". But some say it's Kreetuh, some say it's Kritah, some say it's Critter, some say it's other random stuff. It's probably the most common comment I get... people arguing over how to pronounce the word "crayon" in Swedish :D
Same
When you're depressed, you pronounce it Cry-ta 😥
I'm a super beginner digital artist and I have ALWAYS wondered how artists just grab parts of the draw drawing and manipulate it. Thank you for making the first tutorial I've ever seen that actually covers that
7:46 But in the tool options you limit the bucket to the current layer...
Exactly!
You can do that, yeah, but it's annoying nonetheless that Krita set... that as the default option.
@@Jenna_Talia that's the default set for almost every drawing program that I've used, and it's not that hard to change it....idk I don't think it's that big of a deal haha and I actually like that it does that since my art relies on line art, and it'd be a little annoying if I had to color everything in by hand
@@yeloraain yea same I think I must have misread it as canvas, as that's what krita sets the default to. Canvas is far more annoying than layer
@@Jenna_Talia oh, no I meant that I like how it's set to canvas haha bc I do my coloring on the layer below my line art. But I mean, whatever you prefer is fine. I was just saying most things are normally set to canvas
Been using Krita for a long time and it's great! Good tips!
Thanks! Krita is amazing!
Astronaronic, I don't know what I did but I don' have my tools that were on the left side. What can i do to get them back?
@Nishinishinishi - Thanks.
I love krita. I have made like 500 digital abstract pieces in less than a year. I look forward to watching your videos. You do a great job explaning it too. Im adhd too so I love the short videos.
Krita is the best! :) Very very nice! If you have a link to a deviantart or ArtStation, or anything you've posted them on... I'd love to take a look!! And thank you very much! Glad you enjoy :) Haha! I hear that! I decided when I made my channel, that I dreaded watching 45 minute long videos just to do something simple... so NOT ONE of my videos is over 10 minutes exactly :)
Thank you! I have a project due in a week that I need to learn how to use Krita for and I needed a tutorial like this!
Aww yay! Glad I was able to help you out
Thank you! I am new to digital art and I use krita and this has helped :))
Awesome! So so so glad I could help :)
Dude I have been trying to figure out the basic controls of Krita for ages, thank you so much for this video! I've also watched a ton of these videos looking for this info in particular and haven't gotten this help. Thank you!
:D You are so welcome :)
omg I'm so glad I found this video. last summer I was struggling with those issues you just mentioned especially the bucket fill one and I'm just so happy you explained how to solve those issues
Yours is the first tutorial I've watched (AND i'VE WATCHED A LOT!) where I could A. understand what you were saying and B. while you moved fast, you spent some time on each thing so I could draw along and figure it out!! Thank you a million times!
My fine sir, why you have graciously have saved me so much trouble as i have been searching for a long time on how to use a clipping mask or whtver but here you have explained it finely and thus thank you sooo much much my dear friend
i literally subbed instantly
Aww thank you very much! Very glad that I'm able to help like this
I just switched from traditional drawing(2years) to digital so I can start animating. This was immensely helpful. Thanks a ton! Digital drawing coming from a traditional drawing background is much like re-learning how to walk again lol.
Thanks for this, I got a new laptop and drawing tablet the other day and found that drawing software has come a long way from when I used to play with ms paint. This is so helpful.
Thank you, so much for this video, I had no idea where to find the clipping settings and practically straight away, you show me how to so THANK YOU THANK YOU you have really helped me out!!!
Perfect! Very glad you were finally able to find it! :)
Woha I learned so much in this little tutorial
Thank you! 🌹
You are very very welcome :) Puts a smile on my face that I can help!
I can move the paper, zoom in, change brush, colour and size all with a right click of my x pen, which shows the wheel.
Nice!
Excellent speed n clarity
Just bought my drawing tablet for my pc, thank you I can’t wait to get started
Thank you, this really helps me getting started. Your video is underrated
Awesome. Very glad to help you out :) This video was pretty popular, I think it feels pretty rated :D
I like this guy, thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you so much 😃 really glad you enjoyed it 😊
Thank You ! Thank you ! Thank you ! You almost made me cry with relief when you showed the effect of the Quick Clipping Group. I am a total newbie (two days now) with digital arts and was looking for this the WHOLE DAY ! :D

THANK YOU! I'm making a comic, and this is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much!
Very very glad to help :)
IF your creating a comic check out "Clip Studio" it is the original creators of Manga Studio, they are the same but Clip Studio version gets a lot more free stuff and updates. You will find the Manga studio is sold through Smith Micro and is often TWICE the price, just go with the Japanese original, it is in english lol. Clip studio is full of models you can import or trace into your comic, it has all the fonts and speech bubles and frames, you can set up a full comic book there. It has full stabilizing for freehand drawing that is better than this little program, If you watch out for it you can grab it for £25, the manga studio version is often over twice the price for the exact same program. I hope this helps, Im a por artist and like to help
@@RonWylie-gk5lc thanks !!
dm malek try out ibis paint too! It has a panel feture
Got my tablet today. Much help. Thank yoouuu!
Yay! Glad I could help!
Just getting started with Krita, thank you for some great beginner's advice!
I always wanted to make art... Since I was a kid, my art was terrible. But now with Krita
I can finally fix it! Thank you TutsBykai
Your tutorial are always short and sweet! ^_^
Aww thanks so much pal! Really really glad I could help you out :) More Krita is on the way!
Instead of bucket fill you should use the colorize mask, it is a really stand out function of Krita. It is specific to make the "Flat colors" level.
OMG this is the best beginner Krita video. thanks so much!
You're so welcome!
This channel is immensely helpful.
this is awesome thank you so muchh ! almost teared up a bit :,)
Don't cry
I have a wacom cintiq 16 + pro pen and this tips realy help me thank you so much💫🌻
Yay! I'm stoked! Hope you love that Cintiq! :) Happy drawing!
Very nice tips for a intro to the drawing program. Thx for the aid
Thank you so much Sir 💖 I loved your Channel! You are really Awesome!
One thing you can do to help it bucket fill the background better, drag it down lower on the stack. The layers matter on what it affects or doesn't. This can be amazing if you want to throw a background under some things, but also have it show through other layers. :)
^^ Yup! Strangely, in Krita, it bucket fills whatever is visible, so if your line art layer is showing, it won't bucket fill under the line art :/ This sounds pretty cool! Thank you for sharing, Jessica!! :)
On the bucket fill thing.. I found that just filling out a few times is enough ..just clicking a few times will do it..instead of making the other layers invisible 🙃
My moms taking me to get a drawing tablet for my computer! I can’t wait to use it! 💕☺️
this program is so good, it's amazing that it's free
I'm starting to learn drawing and I found Krita. Don't know how and what to do as a start and then I found your video. This is awesome!
That's awesome! Very glad I could help you! Maybe my sketch process and line art process videos will help too?? :)

@@TutsByKai Thank you!
Anytime!!!
You can change the fill tool properties from "All Layers" to "Current Layer" in the tool options docker to resolve the fill issue you mentioned at 7:45. You may have to uncheck the option "Fill Entire section" to change sample options in the tool option docker.
If you do not see the tool options docker after selecting the fill tool. You can simply go to Settings on the top bar > Dockers > and enable Tool Options. This will reveal the tool option dialog in the right pane.
what if I don't have Tool Options? Like at all? :D I watched so many tutorials and all of them have it on top of the color selector or at least as docker in the settings. My krita just does not have it :(
@@lorenakalvelage4848 the tool options docker should be enabled from Setting option at the top > Dockers > check Tool options
@@roninenlightened6350 yeah I know, but it just is not there. like really. i watched so many tutorials but I just don't friggin have that..
5 key tip was needed . thank you.
Thanks for the tutorial, it helped a lot
instead of hiding all your layers to bucket fill the background, just move the layer you want to fill to the top of the layers, fill it then move it back to where it was.
There's a function to fill the current layer you're on, without any interference from other layers. That's the fastest way, but if you're more comfortable doing it like how you said - then keep on keepin' on :)
Thank you so much for This! I just started using krita for experiences in digital drawing, but I'm soo confused, cause there are to many tools...
Just needed sth like that! ^^
I'm very glad to help ya out! :) Let me know if you need anything else!
Thank you SOOO much! I've been trying to find a good tutorial for a while now and yours's was amazeballs! it helped a lot thank you once again!
Great video, im deffinetly will try Krita out this week. Thanks !
Nice! Glad you found Krita!
Thank you so much my brother has a drawing tablet but we lost the USB cord we finally are getting one and we don’t got the money for paint tool Sai
Np man! :) Glad to hear you all are getting another one! :) And YES! I feel you. Some programs are ridiculously expensive. Not to mention monthly plans :/ Trust me, I 100% hear that.
Krita offers more then paintaool sai anyways and has a active dev that actively updates the software
That had to suck. Since this was written way into the future, I just hope you guys started using the box
Just what i needed, ty so much
Thanks dude, rotating and zooming with shortcut keys, masking with the group layer thingy and the bucket fill tips where all new to me and very helpful
whats sad is the "sloppy sketch" is better than what i've ever done
this was awesome and taught me some things, but I do have an easier solution for your fill issue. First select your color, then make a new layer for the layer you want filled as a background ,then go to 'Edit' on the top left of the window and select 'Fill with Foreground Color' or use the short cut "Shift + Backspace". There you have it, Thank you again and hope this helps.
Aww thank you so much, Bell :_) Yeah, there's actually an option to fill JUST the background! I found it a while ago. Gonna make a quick video talking about it sometime!
Great tool to sketching concepts.
omg thank you! I just started digital drawing and this tutorial helped me a lot like a LOOOOOOOOOOOT
You litterly saved my life thank you kind sir
I know I'm 4 months late but this is a great tutorial.... Great job my guy
Haha! Thank you pal!! 😊 Really appreciate that 😋
Ya great tip i just bought my tablet
1:40
1) dunno what it is, but on my Wacom Intuos I can't use the bottom botton and shift without playing some sort of hop-scotch wizardry to get it to work right.
2) also, if i hold Shift, and drag to change pen size...even when I let go of shift, it doesn't stop changing pen size until I lift the pen up, making it very hard to get where I want it. essentially useless.
Thank you, Kai. Can't wait to see more Krita video! :)
Thank YOU. I love Krita.
I'm only 2 minutes into this and I already have learned so much! Luckily I have the same tablet you do. Going to keep watching now!

Yay! Very glad you enjoyed it! Thank you SO much for the support :)
Thanks for this! My first tutorial for Krita and you made it look easy.
That drawing is good, bruh
I don’t know what I did but I lost the color wheel and can’t find how to get it back. I even uninstall and reinstalled but nothing changed. Any solutions?
Try settings >> dockers then make sure advanced color selector is checked
Enable dockers, you can specifically enable a dock or disable it (Ex: Color wheel, Brush presets, etc)
Was just gonna say this! ^^ You guys are awesome :)
This video helped me much thank you. I'am a beginer in digital drawings and this video was very good for me.
