What a strong, and beautiful lady who gave so much. I hope everyone, especially those who saw her realized how blessed they were! There could never be another like he!!! Rest in Peace beautiful Maria!!!!
Wow! What a sad story for a glory of the Opera. I met Maria Callas when I was studying classical music but I didn't know about her painful personal story. And all for love, it's incredible! It might not seem like it, but I hope she found a little peace before she dies.
Omg I love this woman toujour je t'écoute toujours en Nouvelle Zélande à mon âge 70s mais j'étais en France London almost 20years. My heart is theatre opera ❤❤❤
People who know more than I have helped me understand her voice. It is not always pretty but it always portrays the drama needed for the parts. There have been many pretty voices but only one perfectly dramatic voice that was Maria Callas. I think she gave so much, worked her voice so hard, that that may have shortened her performing career. Her repertoire was amazing. Many other singers are known for only a few operas while Maria did many. Apparently some roles can damage the voice. Marilyn Horne, in her autobiography, described certain ranges that should not be done often. Maria gave all she had to opera and the public. Thankfully there are many good recordings. By the time she met Onassis, she was ready to have some play time, something she had never had before in her life. It makes sense that she strayed from the grueling work schedule and found some enjoyment.
Callas learned her part in "I Puritani" in six-days while singing Die Walküre in the evenings. She had previously learned "Qui La Voce/Vien Diletto," which she recorded for Cetra in 1949.
Maria Callas remains one of the best Opera singers in the world and it is pure blasphemy that an actress with no musical talent or physical resemblance like Angelina Jolie to potray her in a biopic...
I just begun to know her, through Aristotle onnasis having had married Jacqueline Kennedy. I would have never forgiven Aristotle Onnasis if i were in her shoes.
She ALWAYS thought that Onassis hadn't really loved her.He had been in love with wonderful Claudia Muzio and when he recalled her he couldn't go back to her because she died when she was in her fourties.Thats apparently why he got hold of Maria,to remember the days with Claudia who committed suicide for him.I wish they made a film with all the truth.
@@Sarah_Vanesa-Sophie She committed suicide at the Majestic Hotel. In Rome.I know it well because my family knows very well the property of the Hotel. Besides don't think that Licinio Reffice would have allowed people to believe the TRUTH being secretly in love with her and being a priest. There is a good movie to make and not one shit with Angelina Jolie.
"a string of passionate loves... involved in a number of high profiled relationship..." overstated, inaccurate, unless those passionate loves and high profiled relationships include Pollione, Alfredo, Jason of the Argonauts, Radames, Mario Cavaradossi...
The great conductor Tullio Serafin referred to Callas as "un grande vociaccia” (a big ugly voice). Serafin was a mentor to and admirer of Callas, so calling her that must have been tongue-in-cheek.
Aï Puritani ? And why not Aï Puraïtanaï ??? 🤣 Oh, and by the way, she sang at the "Old Met", so no need to put a picture of the new Met... So many mistakes in this short presentation. Leave it to the professionals...

While performing Die Walküre.
@@UranusRising Thank you (or "La Valchiria" in Italian)
@danawinsor1380 yes ...empty fluff pieces to be sure
Just researched and it says losing weight can definitely have an impact on the vocals 😢
You're right, many believe it refined her tone but may have sacrificed some of its power. A fascinating transformation, no doubt!
La Divina - the only true Diva.
I'm still waiting haa haa🎉

In my opinion, the betrayal of Aristotle Onnasis might have precipitated her decline. Loss of Love, Loss of Life.

Claudia Muzio she died of heart disease through there were rumors of suicide at the time.

She wasted her prime with a playboy, Greek man.
and an unattractive man, but he sure had money!
Karma came for him later.
And to make matters worst Aristotle wasn’t even good looking
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
She had a terrible childhood, but became the ultimate diva RIP 🩷🩵

she was a smoker- that affects the voice..
Loosing her weight, made her really loose her voice.

Unknown to an AI voice. Can’t stand AI to narrate.
I hate AI voice overs
That part! They sound so “robotic”. And they can mess up words so bad it can’t decipher correctly…cause it’s not human.
