You seem like such a pleasant guy. I appreciate you taking the time to upload to this channel throughout the years, I’ve watched a lot of your videos just because I enjoyed em so much. I love chess and you’ve re inspired me to buy a little lathe and try it out myself.
Gone. On our move from Colorado to Washington the movers destroyed it. Drove into it actually. Bought a Grizzly G0458Z 18" 1-1/2 HP Open-End Drum Sander with the refund check (they broke other stuff). Thanks for watching.
Slot for the bolt shaft only down 3/4 of way to where the head would be, flip the board cut a dish 1/8th" deeper than the bolt head and 3x's the width of the head, fill with the bolt and JB weld, let cure, I have a setup like that on a router fence and it's lasted 3 years already. {use Mylar to prevent sticking and can even lay it down while curing fo a flush and smooth finish.
Also have found since that if using epoxy etc. to seat a bolt for clamping to not make the dish round, an odd shape helps keep the bolt head from turning the fill.
Thomas Edison on his previous failed attempts to make lightbulbs…”I haven't failed -- I've just found 10,000 that won't work." 🙂. Good job, sir! I still watch your chess piece videos over & over! 🙂♟👍🏻

Great vids. I was wondering how much clearance you have under the gantry and the bottom of the z mount? lease let me know.
Thanks
4 “ to bottom of z mount. But 6” to the tip of the router collet

Oh and MDF is good but hardwood is always better.
