Bro filled the drainholes for the door… this is a no go in my area if we have a deck and a door the deck goes 1 1/2” below the door so no snow / shit gets in the house

This is what they call “a jack of all trades, master of none”. Using masking tape AND Windex just goes to show that you obviously have no idea how caulking is supposed to be done or in this case NOT to be done. You might as well not caulk it, as the masking tape creates a tiny lip that prevents the tight seal between the caulk and the surface plus the Windex will get in between the caulk and the surface and will basically prevent the adhesion. It will need to be redone in no time.

Lexel is one of the only sealants that sticks to wet surfaces so the windex won’t hurt it. I was more concerned why he even sealed the bottom I was always taught seal the sides and top but leave the bottom unsealed so if a leak developed over time it has a drain path. Also he covered the weep holes on the slider so that track is gonna be full of water every rain… fun stuff.

It makes spreading the sealant much smoother and easier

in this video, the deck board is sort of under the sliding door and siding, mine is like that as well. Is it easy to remove that board? I am looking to pull up my decking and add edpm pond liner and then reinstall the deck boards with composite screws.

Just go 2 back from the house, so 2 rows. Then remove your hiden fastener or just fastener. Then you should be able to remove the deck board against the house without damaging it. Really depends how its fastened.

@@TheEzpeaz Most nail pullers have a rounded indent tool to unbury the nail, then with the same nail puller you pry it out with a pryblock to protect your decking material. Thatll be the best way to do it without totally destroying the board.

@@Billybob-go8hn I guess if I can't get to the nail with the puller then worst case scenario I could use an oscillating multi tool to cut the nail?

@@TheEzpeaz If you get the nail puller with the indent tool itll fit around the nail head. You then hit it into the wood around your nail head. Itll leave a circle indent just enough you can pull the nail out without gouging the wood. Worst case you hit the claw into the nail and pry. To get an idea, if you google dewalt nail puller itll have the indent tool on the side. Thats personally my favorite nail puller, but im sure other companys have the same thing.
