Future Pres. Nixon on Face the Nation

- Weeks before the 1968 presidential election, Richard Nixon disputes the idea that his "law and order" policies make him like controversial Alabama Gov. George Wallace on the October 27, 1968 edition of Face the Nation.
interesting hearing a President speak coherently
I’m only for law and order if the law is honorable
A tragic figure. Brilliant but corrupt. It was like he wanted to do the right thing, and knew what the right thing was, but couldn't bring himself to do it. So, he goes rogue and ruins his life. Sad.
And just couldn’t quite keep the dollar backed by gold.... such a troubled guy... wtf? This guy was a criminal POS.
I voted for Humphrey in 68 and McGovern in 72 but still respected Nixon
War on drugs that was his law and order response
As I understand it and I was taught this the people you mean the United States of America have the power to enact laws to change the laws that they do not agree with that they cannot abide the laws that are on the books that we have outgrown or find a fencer but it must be done the right way through our judicial processes through our elected representatives we allow this government to proceed to carry out our will the people's will is never violence and bullying unarmed peaceful citizens make note Law and Order must be obeyed by all the same.
Peace.
Rest In Peace Sir George Wallace and Richard Nixon 🥰🥰😇😇😇
Imagine these questions to their darlings Kennedy and Obama - media bias continues to this day.
Nixon was brilliant.. but sadly he was just an oddball..
I hate Richard Nixon
Nixon was the best and most consequential president of the last half of the 20th century. Hands down. Reagan was a fool by comparison.
Just a stab in the dark here, but I'm betting that you hate a lot of things and people because you're a bitter old sod.
@@jstasiak2262 Last time I checked, Reagan won the Cold War, and Nixon didn't. Also, Reagan completed both his terms.

Nixon had to contend with Democrat control of BOTH houses of congress for BOTH of his terms; Reagan never had that disadvantage. Neither did Trump. If they did, both Reagan (for Iran-Contra) and Trump (for breathing) would have been gone too. The Democrats in 1973 were just as petty, hypocritical and vicious as they are today.
The things for which Nixon was hounded out of office seem innocuous and quaint by today’s standards. And, I would argue, that Nixon’s numerous accomplishments in office were far more significant, beneficial and enduring than Reagan’s. Reagan couldn’t have accomplished what he did if Nixon hadn’t accomplished what he did.
Reagan only looked good because Jimmy Carter was abysmally incompetent, ineffectual and feckless. Carter couldn’t accomplish anything even though the Democratic Party controlled both houses of Congress during his term.
@Ahmad Hijaz
Joke? Nope. I don’t think so.
I didn' like him as Veep and I hated him as POTUS. I cheered when he left Washington!
Deborah Hale unfortunately he was still a better potus than Obama.
Obamagate was ten times as bad as Watergate. We're is the justice
@@geoffwalker4764 Nothing came close to drumpfgate.
Yeah elitist Georgetown socialite
You cheered President Johnson during the Vietnam War
