Apologies ladies and gents. A little bit of misinformation on my part. It seems the 25% discount only applies to FSX / P3D / FSW owners of the Arrow III unfortunately. I don't think it's anything personal against you X-Plane users out there, apparently the X-Plane version of the Just Flight Arrow III was simply made by a different team. Apologies again and all the best!
Thanks man! Yep, right now I would say it deserves top spot on the shopping list! I think we’re all waiting with baited breath for A2A though haha. All the best : )
Picked it up yesterday, got to fly around a bit before I had to head into work...I will second your review, spot on...can't wait to get home and take her up again.
Can certainly tell you’re a real world pilot. Even going through the briefing of what’s going to happen in the video - I may as well be sat in my window seat waiting to go to Barcelona lol. Awesome video and review. Please keep them coming, sir.
Thank you very much, happy to hear you’re enjoying the videos. Much appreciated! : ) Gosh wouldn’t that be nice, for both of us, if we were headed off to Barcelona haha. Soon hopefully ; ) All the best!
Thanks very much, really glad to hear you enjoyed it! That’s certainly the aim of my videos, to try and make it feel like you’re along for the ride : ) All the best!
Nice review ITBS, good thorough look at it and good narration. Sure viewers will have enjoyed that and will help folk decide if this is for them or not. Keep up the good work.
I quickly outgrew up Xbox and ordered a PC, this is a new hobby for me! This is definitely going into my GA hangar. Reviews are top notch mate, keep em coming. Thanks !
The Xbox does have a few great addons now and more should be coming, but I think the PC is always going to offer a higher fidelity experience overall (with the option to use external apps, flight models, addons etc). It sounds like you’re enjoying the sim / hobby thus far anyway - that’s great to hear! The Just Flight Arrow is a cracking addon. It does have a few issues with the flight model currently (as a result of previous sim updates), but Just Flight are currently working on a fix I hear. Just my two pennies worth; perhaps consider the Turbo Arrow over the Arrow III (if you’re planning on buying only 1). With the Turbo Arrow, you get two variants of the aircraft (the III and the IV), as well as improved performance etc - it’s the slightly more versatile addon overall. I’m really glad you’re enjoying the content! Cheers Sean, all the best : )
I love this plane - I was watching your review tentatively as I really hoped you would approve of it. I have never flown a plane so have no idea how it should feel. The Just Flight Arrow feels markedly different to any of the other aircraft in MSFS (including most of the payware) and I think it is a joy to fly - it feels heavy, solid and smooth. Yesterday I flew it and the landing gear would not raise - turned out the breaker had popped....not sure if that's me or JF doing some clever failure - but it really added to the immersion (and to my panic). I think some of the interior textures need a little work - especially over head - not a deal-breaker at all! I prefer the cleaner cockpit - it should still be worn enough for you :) - it also gives a clean windscreen! I have found adding one turn on the rudder trim helps to counteract the torque. I have landed very successfully in this plane (as in its not a gear breaking landing) - it feels consistent in its approach. I dont plan to stall it! Glad you liked it - now I can continue my flight across Scotland in my little Arrow....thanks for the video, glad you like it. (lovely comment from you about Just Flight -- well done)
I wondered why I couldn’t get the gear up! I will look for the circuit breaker next time. I agree, the clean textures are so much better as you can then see through the windows. Texture of the wings not great. But great to fly 👌
Thanks Mark! Sounds like you’ve been having quite an adventure haha! That’s awesome for the CB, I’ve no idea if random failure exist in the Arrow, be nice if they did. Always quite a satisfying feeling when you manage to troubleshoot these things. . . Yeah, we definitely agree on the Arrow, it’s a lovely product and a joy to fly! Actually, the end shot for my conclusion section was flying over Scotland. An amazing place for a bit of a flying tour (and indeed a visit in the real world). I got lucky with the weather when I went, but I can honestly say it’s one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever visited. I will have to try out the clean textures. On the preview version, they still gave a dirty windshield I believe. I didn’t realise JF had changed this. As you say, they still look nice and worn anyway. Yeah, I hope I didn’t sound like I was shilling for Just Flight haha, I’ve genuinely always been a happy customer of theirs and wanted to put in a good word where I could. Thanks for watching and happy flying! : )
I've been looking for steam gauge GA aircraft, without gps, with crude utopilot, for some old school VOR IFR. Cessna 152 is fine, but a little too basic. Glass cockpit cessna 172 is not for me. People recommended this aircraft, so I searched for the review. And found it. Your video is simply amazing, top notch quality. Subscribed! I will get this aircraft for the sim.
Thank you very much Mindau, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and welcome aboard! The Just Flight Arrow is a very nice option, although it does have some issues with the flight model currently (as a result of previous sim updates). Just Flight are currently working on a fix. Another aircraft you might like to consider, is the Black Square Analogue Bonanza. It sounds like it would very much fit the bill and is another excellent offering (with incredible systems depth): ua-cam.com/video/36CArpQjCCg/v-deo.html Enjoy your VOR NAV - always good fun in the sim! Cheers and all the best : )
Purchased this yesterday and flew the same route at dusk last night. Very nice aircraft, well done just flight. Reminded me of doing my PPL back in the day. I intend getting my old log book out and 're running my NFT this week, that should be fun. Nice review well presented, thankyou.
Thanks Paul, glad you enjoyed the video! The Arrow is indeed a lovely effort from Just Flight. That’s a great idea. I might drag out my old logbook and do the same. Re-run some of my PPL flights (they’ve become a bit of a faded memory now). All the best : )
An excellent review, thank you. I had to smile, when approaching Southampton you said we’ll go outside and listen to the great sounds, then promptly played a music track over them so I couldn’t here them! Just found your channel and now subscribed :)
Thank you sir! Haha, sorry. I usually add in a few external clips without music in reviews, so that people can hear the external sounds more clearly, but if memory serves me correctly I did fail to do that on this occasion. . . They really are rather good sounds though. Glad you’re enjoying the channel. Thanks very much for the subscription and welcome aboard! : )
I dug out my A2A Comanche in P3d the other day and thought, wow need this in MSFS. Another great review, thanks. But I had to check my You Tube settings, the graphics looked very FSX, radio dialls look flat and almost FS9 in my opinion.
We certainly do! Can’t wait for A2A to come to MSFS, but they really are in a league of their own. There are very few, if any developers that reach the same standards within GA / warbird flight simulation. I think Just Flights GA stuff is generally pretty high up the ladder though. Again, I think overall it’s the best MSFS product to date. Ultimately, as long as things keep moving forward in the direction they have been, we should get back to the same levels of fidelity we’ve seen elsewhere. I know what you mean about the gauges, they are a bit flat and basic by modern standards. Overall though, I still really like the cockpit / aircraft. Glad you enjoyed the review. Thanks David : )
Ah well, that’s thoroughly nice to hear, Betty! I’m really glad he is enjoying the content : ) Many thanks and all the best (to you and your grandson)!
Although I qualified in this A/C some 45 years ago - Yesterday I kept crashing of take of - the answer from JF "The flight dynamics have been developed using the latest MSFS techniques and therefore you must have your flight model set to ‘Modern’ for the aircraft to behave correctly." That might just help someone else ------ great video as usual - Spitfire next
Thanks very much Jayteeaitch! Glad you enjoyed the video : ) Indeed. This is always the first recommendation I make, if people are experiencing this sort of behaviour. Not sure how, but some people seem to end up in Legacy, which will cause a lot of problems / behaviours you’ve mentioned, with any of the newer aircraft. Thank you if you input though, much appreciated! Hope you’re are enjoying the Arrow. All the best
Thanks! There are a couple of options to make the sounds more audible (there is a “headphone” option in the sound settings for example), but I do generally find that ATC and some cockpit sounds are a little on the quiet side vs the rest of the sims sounds. All the best! : )
Another great review befitting a great new addition to the sim. Agree with the comment about the dirty windows. It would be great to have an option on the iPad for clean/dirty windows. Thanks again for your detailed comments and procedures. Great job.
Thanks very much as always Chris! Yeah, it’s a really nice product and hopefully the review conveyed that. As Just Flight have mentioned, you can indeed clean up the windscreen with a replacement texture set, but then you also lose some of the cockpit weathering which I like personally. Personal preference of course and to be fair, the “clean” cockpit textures still look really nice. It would be great if you could switch them out on the iPad, but I presume perhaps the sim doesn’t allow for this, or I suspect JF would maybe have given us the option. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the review once again. All the best : )
I don’t believe that would be possible I’m afraid. I think you have to literally swap the texture files out in the aircraft folder to switch between the two. So the aircraft won’t get dirty as you fly along or anything. In theory though, if the SDK can model ice build-up, I’m sure they could do the same thing for dirt build-up : )
Excellent review, very immersive and a credit to you and the JF Team, be interested to know if you have made any flights utilising the Garmin 530 ie creating Flt plan etc in aircraft ? I was in touch with JF re the switch’s in the VC not functioning with the Honeycombe alpha yoke which JF are working to fix. Thanks great job. Best Regards Charlie
Thanks Charlie! Actually, I tend to stay away from the default 530. I’ve tried the mod though and that is rather good (as seen during my New Zealand flight in the Arrow). I have tried a flight from Wick up to Sumburgh using the mod and setting the flight plan up from scratch, all seemed to work very well. Haven’t made any videos whilst doing that yet, I’m sure I will in due course though. . . That’s great to hear that JF are getting that sorted. As I mentioned during the review, they always seem to be very good at responding to these sorts of things. All the best : )
Ah very nice DC! You're pretty well covered in the sim then, with Just Flight's Arrow and Burning Blue Design's Andrewsfield haha. Are you still flying? : ) All the best!
44:42 It's kinda funny cause you want to do an engine failure test so in your mind you revert to real world procedures: engine idle as best approximation. But this is a sim. You can turn off the engine since there's no safety considerations involved. And then you get to test the inflight restart too!
Haha, well this is true. Actually for the sake of the video, it was easier to do it this way, but it would certainly be a good idea to shut down the engine and simulate the whole procedure if you were running an engine failure scenario normally. One of the things I would love to see in the sim, is a fully comprehensive failure generator, with random failures and percentage chances of them occurring etc. Cheers, all the best! : )
Thanks Michael, glad you’re enjoying it! It’s a great product for sure! Haven’t actually had the chance to try the latest version yet myself haha : D All the best!
Is it me or did they remove that GNS 430 as COMM1 option? I really hate using the GNS530 because I fly in VR and use a realsimgear GNS430 unit on my panel and so when I feel for the controls they don't line up with what I see on the VR panel. I did raise a ticket asking them to put a GNS430 COMM1 option in there and in their response they didn't mention that there already had been one. It's a great aircraft though.
Hi Andrew, It does indeed appear as though Just Flight got rid of that option for whatever reason. It's always a shame to have less choice and I can't see what the benefit would be of removing it (but who knows, maybe there is a reason). As you say though, a very nice effort overall - I've just been flying the Turbo Arrow a bit again recently and I'd somewhat forgotten just how nice these aircraft are! Thanks and all the best! : )
Thanks Mats, much appreciated! : ) Unfortunately I didn’t on the X-Plane version, so can’t compare, but what I can say is that the JF Arrow is currently by far the best GA aircraft we have available in the sim and I for one really enjoy it. If you pick it up, I hope you do too! Cheers and all the best!
Haha, all the better for taking in the scenery Jon! : P But I’m looking forward to the Turbo as well I must say. Partly for the speed, partly for that wonderful T-tail. All the best : )
Haha, we all know how that feels! : D It’s a little bit of a tricky question to answer Carlos, as obviously it’s a personal preference to some degree. I love it; I have a friend who returned his after a few days. For me, it’s a simming accessory that I couldn’t live without now though. I’ve had one for nearly 15 years and I use it for every flight that I don’t make in VR. It takes a bit of getting used to, as the head movement in sim, isn’t 1:1 with your own head movement, but it makes the whole experience much more immersive overall and also frees up joystick buttons, not to mention your hands! If mine broke, I would buy another one tomorrow. I think that says it all really (and in 15 years I’ve owned 2. So they are quite long-lasting overall). Have you considered trying one of the freeware / cheaper alternatives, just to see whether you like it in principle or not? If you do get TackIR at some point, feel free to get in touch and I would be happy to give you my setup profile (it makes a big difference over the default). Cheers Carlos, all the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations thanks Mate for that great reply! I will give it a go and let you know. I also believe it will be a very good addition to the whole experience.
very nice video, as always, I’ve enjoyed every moment! and really looks like a great product. would be perfect to go on with your tutorial videos, wouldn’t it? 😉 like IFR and flight controls training, eg. rpm and mixture controls... but it seems you are quite busy as a test pilot nowadays. 😃 anyway keep up the great work you are doing! 🙂
Haha, I am indeed now an unofficial test pilot! : P Actually I am sloooowly plugging away with some new tutorials, but they have been taking a bit of a back seat as I do enjoy doing the reviews and those vids also tend to be a bit more popular. I’m using the Bonanza for the next tutorial series, as then it’s something everyone can follow along with : ) Thanks again Péter!
Hi L CC, Yes, personally I like the worn look to the aircraft, but I know it isn’t to everyone’s tastes. Just Flight do actually provide both a more worn and a *newer* set of textures for the cockpit, but neither texture set is pristine to be fair. As you say though, the Arrow is a very nice offering overall and still one of the best GA offerings in the sim. Cheers and all the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I forgot to say how much I also enjoyed your review. It was excellent - the best I seen for this airplane - in depth but still accessible.
A great review - this is definitely my favourite aircraft in MSFS so far. I like the way that they have included the altitude hold click spot (as they did on previous versions) but I have found the aircraft so easy to trim, I haven't needed it. One small clarification to what you said in the video: The 25% discount isn't avaiable on "any previous version of this aircraft". I bought the Just Flight Arrow III for X-plane and didn't qualify for a discount. It looks as though you have to have previously owned a version for a Microsoft sim (P3D, FSW) to qualify. (I think it has something to do with the fact that the X-Plane version was produced by a different Just Flight development team to the MS versions.) It's not a big issue but I didn't want anyone to think they might get a deal for which they don't qualify. As you said, though, having bought the MSFS Arrow III, I will qualify for the 66% discount for the turbo version and I'm really looking forward to getting that (the discount as well as the aeroplane 😉).
Thanks very much Rich, glad you enjoyed it : ) and thanks for the great info once again! Indeed, I didn’t realise that was the case. I will pin a comment accordingly. Likewise, I’m really looking forward to the Arrow on both counts, should be a bit of a steal at 34% of RRP + I love that T-tail! : P Cheers and all the best!
Great again !! Wasn't sure if id be too interested in this , but seeing as lately i'm enjoying actually having to "fly " my add-on aircraft ( Spitfire , FW-P149D , Fiat G91 , all with no autopilot / modern GPS ) , and noticing in your video , how you could make various changes to the aircraft set up , i may give this more serious consideration . ( p.s I know someone will comment that i can " fly "any of the aircraft , without GPS or autopilot input . But , in this aircraft , you can remove the modern GPS screen and go more towards the steam gauge option ).
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it : ) Yeah, it’s really nice having the option to swap out the avionics. Almost feels like you’re getting two planes in one! I mostly prefer my older avionics and a very much “hand on” approach like yourself. But every now and then I enjoy reducing the mental workload, firing up the GPS and just taking in the scenery. Also with the GNS530 mod, it gives the aircraft even more functionality. Yeah, I would say It’s definitely worthy of your consideration, if nothing else. All the best!
I wonder about the accuracy of the engine behavior of this plane. So many questions! Is the lowest idle really as high as 1000rpm? Is oil pressure affected by anything? Does oil temp affect anything?
Hi Jagh, It’s “so so” I would say. Just Flight actually just recently updated the aircraft and corrected the high idling RPM. The engine broadly operates to the numbers, but I don’t think it’s “A2A quality” in terms of what’s going on behind the scenes. That being said, it does model spark plug fouling, vapour lock, low oil levels etc. Hope that clarifies things a bit : )
As always a great review. I purchased the Seminole as a result of your review on that aircraft, so it looks as if you might cause me yet more expense! One quick question. How did you prevent the annoying 'log book continue' thingy coming up during engine shut down procedure?
Thanks very much! : ) I can only apologise for what I’ve been doing to your bank balance haha. I’m afraid that’s just a bit of video editing trickery. I try and edit it out as it just kills the immersion. Judging by the number of people that ask me though, I’m far from the only one that it really annoys! I wish Asobo would just give us the option to turn it off. If you have picked up the Arrow, I hope you’re enjoying it and haven’t had to resort to remortgaging the house just yet! : P
i love this plane. it’s so much fun to fly. i have to admit though, i find it super difficult to land smoothly. i usually bounce it like a basketball. 🤦🏻♂️
in tems of fuel burn, the p28r burns the same as a da42ng bu the da42 takes jat a-1 which costs about half as much as avgas.. mental that a twin is cheaper than an sep
The DA42 is indeed pretty impressive as a cruiser, I never much enjoyed using it as a trainer though (a bit of a dog on the rudder during the single-engine work haha). As brilliant as the G1000 is, I still prefer flying these older aircraft, especially in the sim ; )
Awesome review. I purchased after watching and I'm very happy with it so far. A few complaints, the Garmin 100 GPS is "looks" only. You can only change painted tail number on the custom livery. Seems under powered from my RW flying the airplane but that was 30 years ago. I am going to check the performance against the manual and see if its just me.
Thank you very much! Very happy to hear you’re enjoying the aircraft so far. Yep, the GPS 100 is just a facade, but I think it’s better to have it than not (and I quite like it overall). Completely agree re the tail number and I mention it in every MSFS Just Flight review I’ve done haha. Even if they want to stick with their “Custom” option, it would be great to be able to choose from all of the available liveries. I find myself “missing” my own personal registration now. The aircraft being underpowered is an interesting point that you raise. A few others have said the same thing and I did bring it up with Just Flight (they said they’re happy with it based on their data). The strange thing is, I did some digging around online and found some real-world POHs for the aircraft. One of them very much confirmed the aircraft is underpowered, the other was very much in line with the Just Flight Arrow, as it performs in the sim. Both POHs were for the Arrow III, same engine and prop config as I recall; so I came away a bit flummoxed on that one. . . Hopefully those few issues don’t tarnish your fun too much, overall I still very much enjoy the aircraft myself. Thanks again, all the best and happy flying! : )
Hi Caleb, Yes, this point has been brought up before, including by some real-world Arrow pilots. I did bring it up with Just Flight at the time: They mentioned that they’re modelling an early Arrow III, and based on the numbers they have, the addon performs correctly. I did some research and found (online) the real-world POH Just Flight are using and it does provide numbers broadly similar to the JF Arrow. I’ve also (more commonly) found POHs confirming your numbers as well though. Both sets of POHs are for Piper Arrow IIIs, same engine, same prop etc. I really have no idea at this point what could account for the difference. . . I know that doesn't really clarify anything haha, but hopefully it adds some context to your comment : ) All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations that is so odd, and mildly disappointing. I’m IFR training in a Arrow ii, so I had bought the iii since they’re (almost) the same plane. One of my reasons for buying it was for the faster speed, the warrior ii is soooo slow, it’s sad to see this is hardly any faster.. Thanks for the response!!
Yes, it’s rather strange Caleb; as I say, I never did get to the bottom of it. I know it’s of little use after the fact, but the JF Turbo Arrow is a fair bit quicker, JF also offer a discount on the Turbo, to any Arrow III owners. The flight model of both needs a fix currently though. My pleasure on the response and best of luck with the rest of the training! : )
The aircraft is just rather twitchy at the moment. The flight model used to be pretty good, but through no real fault of Just Flight, subsequent sim updates have thrown it off a bit. I gather JF are currently working on an update though and in fact you can even get yourself a beta copy of the updated flight model, if you get in touch with Just Flight directly. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the fix : ) Cheers!
Agree totally about the overdone dirty windshield thing. Devs should at least have an option for a clean one if they feel the need to add spots or dirt for whatever reason.
@@justflight Awesome, thank you! I will be picking this up as soon as we get our "free" government money next week & it's great to see you are able to do such quality work within the toolkit of the new sim.
I am leary of buying 3rd party aircraft through MSFS market since I bought the Carenado Seminole a couple of weeks ago. I only used it a couple of times before there was an update III to MSFS. Since then the sim CTD when I try to load the Seminole. Carenado confirms that the Microsoft update "broke" their airplane so the ball is in their court now. I don't blame Carenado but I am the one with a paid-for broken airplane.
Very sorry to hear that Hugh, I guess I’m in the same boat then with the Seminole. Ultimately it is Asobos “fault”; but as you say, it doesn’t really matter who’s fault it is, as the customer you have ended up with a product that doesn’t work and that’s not acceptable. There definitely needs to be more cooperation between developers and Asobo; such that developer can release a patch in conjunction with the sim updates. Especially for the Carenado addons, where they are sold exclusively through the MSFS Marketplace. There have been a couple of occasions as well where (apparently) Carenado have created a patch and then Asobo has been very slow to release it. Again, not really acceptable. I hope for everyone’s sake (including Asobo and Carenado themselves), they come up with a more robust system. Thanks and all the best!
Thanks Lee, It’s a shame to have to dull the engine sounds, as in some aircraft they’re already not particularly loud, but I’ll give it a go and see what I think. Thanks very much for the info! : )
Great to hear it! : ) Yeah, exactly. It feels like the first “serious” aircraft we’ve had in the sim. It’s also great fun to fly though. Really enjoying it myself too! Thanks very much re the scenery. I will check it out.
Sorry, I’m afraid I don’t quite understand the question. What do you mean by “fake”? You can trim the rudder of the Arrow, but not the Ailerons, as per the real aircraft. Do you mean, can you trim aircraft that in the real world don’t have trim on that particular control surface? I’m not 100% sure in MSFS. In FSX etc you used to be able to edit the aircraft cfg file and set a trim tab for any control surface you liked. I expect you might be able to do the same in MSFS. By default though, I don’t think you can no. Cheers
My memory is a little hazy on this one now, but I don’t believe it has any anti-icing / de-icing systems no. That won’t necessarily preclude you from flying through clouds, it will mean that you have to keep a good eye on the outside air temperature when doing so though. Most GA aircraft are not certified for icing conditions, so the Arrow III is really no different from most in this regard. I expect you’re probably aware as you’re watching this video, but the Arrow III is actually on sale this weekend : )
HEY! question, where do you get your checklist from? i didnt seem to get one from JustFlight , and also how do you pushback with the towbar or is there an other way?
Hi Diego, Checklist I just dug up online. www.fltacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Arrow_Checklist.pdf It’s actually for an Arrow II, but they’re broadly very similar. As far as I’m aware, the towbar is just aesthetic. If you want to push back, you just have to do it as you would for any other aircraft in the sim (Shift+P works for me). Hope that helps : )
Haha, damn. I’m not sure it’s one I would have chosen. . . I can already see the merch; a “Clear Prop” with a picture of an MSFS ground crew member walking straight through the propeller disk : P
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I wonder what's the accident rate of people walking into moving propellers. Especially with larger aircraft, people might not hear the "Clear Prop, and the captain might not see if someone is walking by.
Haha, well not too high I would think fortunately. I imagine it might be a hangover from the old days. For example during the war, making sure that you haven’t still got an engineer sat under there when you fire her up etc. Most people know to stay well away from the prop when they don’t have to be near it and treat it like it’s “live” at all times. On bigger aircraft, I don’t think you’ll generally get a “clear prop”. As you say, you probably wouldn’t hear it and it will generally only be trained personnel in the vicinity anyway. Haven’t flown any big prop aircraft though, so it’s all just a guess really : )
Nice music choice for the external views; the prop note was right in tune with the bass note for the tonic chord (the chord that was sounding at the beginning of each phrase). How did you manage that? :D
Thanks David! I must say that was definitely done more by luck, than by skill then haha. I generally try and line the video material up with the music as best I can, but I don’t have much of a musical ear (or maybe I do more than I realised haha!). Glad you enjoyed it though either way. Thanks again and all the best! : )
I notice that although you had your personal reg on the internal dymo tape on the dash, externally the default aircraft reg was showing. is the external reg hard painted into the paint job?
Hi Russel, Yes, for most aircraft the registration in baked into the paint scheme (unfortunately). JF do however provide one livery where you can personalise your registration, as you would on other aircraft. Hope that helps : )
Hi Jose To some degree it depends what you want it for, but overall it’s definitely the PA28R (Just Flight version, not Carenado version). The Just Flight PA28 is a much more feature-complete product than the Carenado Mooney and has a lot more depth to it as well. Both are great fun though. M20R Pros Cheaper Better performance in speed, climb etc Better on frame-rates Nicer external model It's powerful, fast and capable. Get's you from A to B quickly and "in style" PA28R Pros Better flight model Better systems modelling More avionics options Nicer internal model Better sounds If you buy the Arrow from Just Flight, you will get a 66% discount on the Turbo Arrow when that releases The aircraft has a persistent state If I could only chose one it would definitely be the PA28R (though I do really enjoy the Mooney as well). Hope that helps : )
Great review of a great aeroplane. I've had a couple of flights in it and enjoy it very much. It's a shame that JF and Carenado have both produced an Arrow III at the same time as I have a lot of respect for both content providers. I went for the JF version partly because of your preview video and partly because of the offer of a discount on the turbo/IV to be released soon. It would be interesting though to see a comparison review of the Carenado product.
Thanks Squirel! : ) Yeah, it’s a lovely aircraft. The best yet for the sim I reckon. As you say, it’s silly that we have all these publishers making the same aircraft at the same time. It’s not good for them and it’s certainly not good for us! The JF Arrow is clearly the superior product here though. I’ve been a fan of Carenados MSFS products to date and whilst I still enjoyed their MSFS Arrow, I feel like they just slipped back into their old ways a little bit with it (presumably as a result of rushing to get it out first). Hopefully it’s not a sign of things to come. . .There were a couple of bugs that were rather inexcusable and a couple that were repeated from previous products. I don’t mind a few bugs (so long as they are fixed promptly), but major obvious inaccuracies, or making the same mistake twice is a bit poor. Carenado have been good with patches so far in MSFS, so hopefully they will continue to be. It’s just such a shame, as there are so many other products from their back-catalogue that I would much rather have seen in the sim! Yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to the Turbo Arrow as well! A bit more powerrr and I love that T-tail! I didn’t do a direct comparison video, but I have now posted a review of the Carenado Arrow, if you’re interested : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I've now seen the Carenado Arrow review and I too am a little disappointed in the errors that you have picked up on. I think I made the right choice for me on which aeroplane to buy. I even prefer the "used" look of the Just Flight model. As you say, Carenado have a huge back catalogue of aircraft to call on and get right but if they don't get it right, people will quickly loose faith. Thanks heaps for your reviews. :)
Yes, I would say the JF version is definitely the better option overall. Carenado have a bit of a dodgy reputation from their FSX / P3D / X-Plane days. I thought they were doing a lot of good work to address that (though I think some people will never “forgive” them), but if they just go back to their old ways; of releasing lots of products in quick succession and sacrificing the quality as a result, they will very quickly upset a whole new generation of customers ha. I’ve also really enjoyed their MSFS products so far, I want to continue to see them doing well. This was the first one that I found a bit disappointing. Anyway, thanks again! Glad you’re enjoying the content : )
Very nice review. Yet can you please share some words about how the avionics perform compared to real life? Can I use my Realsimgear G530W hardware? Will I be able to perform proper SIDs and STARs as well as see correct waypoints? Direct to? Minimum annunciation? Basically is it a study level IFR-trainer? I am eagerly waiting for an aircraft to train IFR until MSFS and WorkingTitle will fix everything. Thanks
Thanks very much! Glad you found it of use. I’m afraid I have no experience with real world GNS units etc, so I can’t offer to much insight on this. I can say that as standard, the Arrow still uses the default GNS, which of course has all the limitations, as it would on any other default aircraft. That being said, have you come across the GNS 530 mod? It seems to offer significant extra functionality and presumably more realism. I’ve tried it myself and it’s certainly a big improvement over the default GNS. It’s free, so worth a look if you haven’t already and it works just fine with the Arrow (and indeed any aircraft that utilises the default 530). If I had to hazard a guess, I would suspect that neither the default GNS or the mod will work with you hardware unfortunately. Is it a study level IFR trainer? By default, not when it comes to the electronic side of things I’m afraid, no. Perhaps check out the GNS mod in a default aircraft first and see what you think. As you say, unfortunately the sim currently requires a lot of work, before it becomes a realistic training tool. . . Sorry I can’t be the bearer of better news, but I hope it’s useful info at least : )
Not me I’m afraid, though I did always want to try the Majestic Dash 8 (never did though). Can you send me a link? I’m intrigued now haha. All the best
@@IntotheBlueSimulations www.justflight.com/product/airline2sim-majestic-dash8-q400-cadet-hd-video-training Superb video course. And the Dash 8 by Majestic is off the charts, awesome. There may be a sample on UA-cam somewhere. It's a compliment. You sound very professional and knowledgeable.
Very comprehensive review thank you. I found the rudder quite twitchy and it sometimes has a tendency to turn right in flight. I can only use rudder trim to correct this. Still haven’t managed to get the adf to function. I must be missing something!
Hi Alan, Thanks very much, glad you found it to be of use! : ) Yes, unfortunately the rudder can be a bit twitchy, I think the sim is at least partly to blame on that one though (as the rudder is overly sensitive generally). A tendency to bank in the cruise is not unreasonable and indeed, the pilot would use a bit of rudder trim to zero it out. That’s strange re the ADF. As you can see in the video, it does work. All you should need to do is turn it on and tune it up. Are you within range of the NDB you’re tuning, is it still active in the real-world etc? All the best!
Just had a look at the Durham NDB Alan. It’s 347.5? From memory you can’t tune the .5 in the Arrow can you? I would imagine that’s what’s causing the issue. . . Cheers
Haha, not a problem at all DC! I've never been to Shoreham myself, so I wasn't sure (don't have a Pooley's to hand these days either). Thanks very much for the info, I shall try to remember for next time ; ) Cheers : )
Hi, just come across your channel and love what ive seen so far, Question, ive being on/off flightsim for over 20 years and love to fly planes, i go from A-B, but mostly from A- where ever and get bored, i want to delve into the ATC side of things more and plotting courses and reading airports better, problem i have is im dyslexic, and really struggle to retain information read from a text book, but visually or watching youtubes really helps with me retaining information, So, do you have any tut videos on these kind of things ? Thanks
Hi Wolfe, Well welcome to the channel and thank you very much! : ) I do have a tutorial series. It’s aimed at beginners, so really covers the basics, but you might still get something out of it. The latter episodes focus on VFR navigation etc. Similarly I have a couple of tutorial series available for the Airbus - if you’re into any of that. Fair warning ahead of time though, these were some of my earlier attempts at content creation and as such, they’re a bit more “rough around the edges” and I fear I sound a bit bored haha XD ua-cam.com/play/PLaI08doFZ-LIK-PAyRGF7NDZDM88FpOVp.html ua-cam.com/play/PLaI08doFZ-LLwILOP5X4Ehloc4Ux5eVNg.html ua-cam.com/play/PLaI08doFZ-LLxsOq4NgK1NnZmq2P6dODr.html I’m forever saying that I will make a Part 2 to my “Flight School” series, but it’s very tricky trying to find the time to do so. Anyway, I hope you get something out of the videos. I try to make most of my videos on the channel an interesting flight in their own right, so maybe some of them will give you inspiration for trips as well : ) Cheers and and all the best!
Are you using some sort of AI ATC addon? Asking cause ATC on my MSFS is certainly not as accurate-sounding as this one in your video lol. Great review btw. Thank you. Can't wait to buy this and the turbo version as soon as they hit the msfs marketplace.
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed the review : ) No, just using default ATC here. Do you have the “Azure” option turned on for ATC voices? That will make a big difference (otherwise the voices will sound quite robotic). Yeah, looking forward to the arrival of the Turbo Arrow myself!
Hahaha, you’ve been rumbled! : P No worries. I know my videos tend to be quite long and not everybody has the time / desire to sit through them. Glad to be of help. Cheers, all the best! : )
Very nice video as usual. I noticed though that after the transponder issues in your preview flight (over NZ), you didn't try to set the squawk at all this time. I'm enjoying the aircraft very much, but the inability to do the "request flight following" procedure with manually setting the transponder is a bit of a disappointment. It's possible that this is a sim problem after the recent update, as I haven't flown any other plane since, but it has been reported as an Arrow-specific bug to Just Flight by a couple of people I think.
Thanks Achim, glad you enjoyed the vid! : ) Ah, that’s interesting! As you say, I’ve found that if you tune manually, it kills ATC. I’d just assumed it was a sim bug as like you, I hadn’t flown anything else at the time (and the sim had recently been updated). Would make sense if it’s a JF bug though, as I never had this issue previously. Not a deal-breaker obviously, but it would be nice to see it fixed. . . Thanks again, all the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thanks for the reply and confirmation. Have now read that apparently it only occurs if you start from cold and dark, which would explain why you encountered it as well. Let's hope JF can fix it - looks like they have already started gathering bug reports in the support section of their web site.
Yeah, that would certainly account for things on my end then. How strange. I really just assumed it was a sim issue. I guess the transponder in the JF Arrow doesn’t fully communicate with the sim or something then. . . Well I have to say, I’m glad it’s JF issue and not a sim issue; I’m sure JF are much more likely to fix it than Asobo : P Thanks again Achim for the info. All the best : )
I’m afraid your post got deleted by UA-cam Achim (as it contained a link). But I see what you were getting at. I see the update has now been released. It looks rather comprehensive! Looking forward to giving it a go when I get the chance : ) Thanks again for your information!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Oops, didn't know you can't use links. It was pointing to the change log, which is indeed extensive. Have installed the update, and so far it's great. Can now switch fuel tanks with key command, and turn off the GPS unit. Aircraft idles at lower revs as well and doesn't start taxiing by itself as soon as you release the brake. Full flight next to test transponder...
Great review as usual! Just a question, were you running in 4k? Because internal texture are not that clean in my setup (1080p and even 2k) and I can't read the text over the autopilot selector, and I am wondering if is just the resolution or something in my side. Thanks!
Thanks very much once again : ) Only running in 1080p on my end. But I’ve noticed on some forums, people complaining of blurry textures. I haven’t seen any reasons given for this though I’m afraid. I would assume that maybe one of the other sim sliders affects it, but I’ve no idea which one it might be. I have everything set to “High-end” with motion blur and traffic off in the sim. Maybe try that and see how you go? I suppose it could also be related to Nvidia settings (or whichever graphics card you’re using). Sorry, I can’t really think what else would be causing the difference. . .
Perfect. Glad to hear it! I saw in the patch notes that they had fixed it. Apparently the cockpit textures where affected by some visual setting or another within the sim. Glad you can (hopefully) enjoy it now! : )
Hi Jenny, I am indeed, yes. I bought mine from Amazon, but that was many years ago now. Prior to that, I believe I bought my previous TrackIR direct from the company (if my memory serves me correctly). Are they a bit hard to get hold of at the moment then (like everything else)? Cheers, all the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations well i managed to find one and i have it working but a quick question, do you still cycle through your in game cams occasionally? especially on things like the tbm as it seems to be hard cope with all situations on just one cam.. sorry noob question
Haha, it’s definitely something that takes a bit of getting used to and requires a bit of fiddling to set up properly. I very rarely (if ever) find myself having to change camera views now though. I would say 99% of the time I stay in the pilot cam and move accordingly. It can be a bit fiddly if the aircraft has small / obscure click spots, but luckily the TrackIR pause function works very well in MSFS. I’ve been sharing my TrackIR setup with quite a few viewers recently. You’re welcome to try it out if you like. Just send me an email to Intotheblueinbox@gmail.com and I’ll send over my profile when I get the chance. Either way, best of luck with it! : )
It's good, the flight model is .. strange but fs20 x) the only problem that i have is when taking off. He goes left right suddently at around 45 kts any idea why ?
Hi Voya, sorry for the slow reply. Haha, well exactly. It’s about as good as MSFS flight models go at the moment. . . Everything else is pretty solid though. Hmm, that’s odd. A lot of MSFS aircraft have a tenancy to do that on takeoff, but they’re all taildraggers. I haven’t experienced any such behaviour in the Arrow myself, but I haven’t had a chance to fly it recently, so an update may have changed something. I’ll run some tests myself and get back to you! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Hey ! Well there was an update like 2 weeks ago and it flies even better and the landing problem is now fixed ;) And i love it, i think it might on of the best purchase i've done on the sim hehe
Ah, perfect! Happy to hear it. Haven’t had a chance to try the update yet, but did just get a chance to try the Turbo Arrow and that’s coming along really nicely! I’d have to agree with you Voya. It’s one of, if not the best aircraft currently available for the sim! Certainly the best GA aircraft. Really great fun. The turbo is shaping up to be all that and more! : ) All the best
Thanks Daniel! : ) I do generally, yes. I’ve never been a big “scenery” guy. Of course it’s always nice having more detailed scenery, but I’d prefer to spend my money on aircraft when I have to choose haha. I find that for the most part, the default airports in MSFS are more than good enough for me.
Thanks man! I think I used this one from memory: www.fltacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Arrow_Checklist.pdf It’s actually for an Arrow II, but close enough. Hope that helps! : )
Excellent review video as always. Very thorough and entertaining. I’m really glad to hear your positive thoughts on this product as I was really hoping it was going to live up to its promise.
Thanks Eamon! Glad you enjoyed it : ) Yeah, for sure! Whilst I was expecting perhaps a little more from the flight model (which I think is really the fault of the sim at the end of the day), overall the product really surpassed my expectations! Thanks and all the best
Hi Paul, sorry for the slow reply. If memory serves me correctly; all you need to do is have the autopilot turned on, HDG hold turned on, have the rotary selector on NAV and make sure than CDI is set to GPS (as opposed to VOR / LOC) on the GPS. The aircraft should then track your GPS routing. Let me know if that works for you? Otherwise I’ll investigate further. . . Cheers : )
Hi Fred, Unfortunately, that which you mention, is a bit of an issue with MSFS in general. I can’t remember the specifics but, if I recall correctly, basically the sim will transition you to a “flight” model at a given speed, regardless of whether or not your wheels are still on the ground (hence why you get some verrry strange behaviours with some of the taildraggers). I believe Asobo have been aware of the problem for a long while but, haven’t done anything to address it (I would imagine / hope that the issue will be fixed up in MSFS 2024). Cheers and all the best!
Thank you very much! My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it : ) Thanks for your feedback re FPS by the way. I wasn’t trying to be critical, I’d just be surprised if all things being equal, you weren’t losing some frames (even if it is “behind the scenes”) All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations All is good👍 I will test the FPS later in the evening with the dev mode in VR and without. In my test flight of the Arrow in VR I have noticed no FPS drop, but this was more an subjective impression, because I had not used the dev mode. It feels as smooth as C172 and the new Spitfire. I flown in the Liverpool area around the Blackpool Tower. Take care.
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Hi all. Tested. Blackpool runway. Clear skies. Engines running. Pilot view. 2D on 2k Monitor. VR on HP Reverb G2 100% OpenXR/100% renderscale in game motionreprojection disabled NOT enabled as I mentioned. Results: 2D JF Arrow 50 Spitfire 65 C172 56 C152 65 As you said FPS drop (-15 FPS). VR JF Arrow 36 Spitfire 35 C172 35 C152 36 As I said no difference, no FPS drop. Take care all
It’s a great little device for the sim. It can be a bit tricky to get set up nicely and can take a little bit of getting used to (as it’s not 1:1 head movement), but once you’ve been using it for a while, it’s very hard to do without it (at least that’s what I’ve found). If you get stuck setting up a decent profile, feel free to email me at intotheblueinbox@gmail.com and I’d be more than happy to share mine. Cheers! : )
I believe it will be in due course yes Brendan : ) Just a little FYI though: If you think you’ll have any interest in picking up the Turbo Arrow at any point as well, the 66% discount on that, will only be available if you buy direct from Just Flight. I can definitely appreciate that’s it’s nicer to buy everything in one place and get automatic updates etc though. All the best
I was all set to buy this based on your preview videos, but the FPS hit sounds like a deal breaker for me as I'm just above the minimum specs in all but ram.😞 Given that I generally fly over Scotland do you think there's a chance I'd get away with it?
I have a 1050ti 4 GB GPU, an 8th gen i5 processor and 8 GB RAM - I get about 30 fps on medium settings and smooth performance with this aircraft (the same sort of performance as I get with the default TBM 930). I know each system is different but this might will help give you an idea of performance on a lower-spec machine.
Hi Duke, I ran a few more tests to see. It depends on what you normally run in the sim really. It’s -15fps vs the C152, about -5fps vs the TBM930 or DA40, only about -2fps vs the King Air. So if you can already run the King Air ok on your system, I would say the JF Arrow would “probably” be ok too. Hope that’s of some use. All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I saw on the JF forum (community.justflight.com/topic/1765/jf-pa-28-arrow-cpu-heavy/6) that you can reclaim some fps by switching off the EFB - i.e. pressing the circular button on the right-hand side of the tablet itself, not just making it disappear.
Thanks again Rich, that’s great info! I didn’t realise that hiding the iPad didn’t have the same effect as turning it off. I will have to test and see what sort of FPS gain I get. Much appreciated once again : )
i was about to buy this when i saw your review the 15 fps frame drop is a major concern as with my set up currently my stock frame rate is only 30 which im happy with at the moment its nice and smooth but a 15 fps drop from that would be a disaster. Can anyone else confirm this amount of fps drop?
@@WhiteHawk77 I am flying only in VR. My system is an 64GB I9-9900K @5Ghz RTX3090. It is as smooth as with the stock aircraft. I think because of the motionreprojection I saw no difference.
Sounds like, as you say, that might be motionreprojection covering it up then though? My test for these things is pretty simple. I load in the aircraft, turn on Dev Mode, check the FPS. Then use the Dev Mode aircraft selector to choose the default C152, check the FPS of that. Then switch back to the plane in question and double-check the FPS there (to confirm it’s the same result). So everything else remains exactly the same for the test : )
Hi Jenny, Is that 30 FPS with something like the default C152, or 30 FPS with a G1000 aircraft? If you’re getting 30 FPS with a G1000 aircraft, I’d imagine the JF Arrow might perform around the same. If you’re getting 30 FPS with the C152, then I suspect the Arrow might be a bit of hit on your system. If you have a “typical” scenario you like to run in the sim; I’m happy to test between the two aircraft and let you know what the difference is. Cheers, all the best! : )
Hi Alex, You can change the sensitivity settings via the Controls menu (there are sensitivity options amongst other things). I don’t have a lot of experience with this though I’m afraid (I’m sure there are some tutorials on UA-cam). For me, the Arrow doesn’t feel too bad with default settings. That may just be because we have different controller setups etc. Is it a bit too sensitive, or uncontrollable? If it’s the latter, make sure you have “Modern” flight model selected in your sim settings. All the best
Hey, That’s very strange. It should be ON by default (once the aircraft is powered up). I believe on the real unit, you use the COM volume knob to turn it on / off, but as far as I’m aware with the default GNS530, you can’t turn it off. The screen is just black is it?
I don't consider it cheating to use the altitude hold "easter egg" because IRL, you can trim the control pressures out so well that it acts as ALMOST an altitude hold anyway. That's hypothetically possible to do with the sim, but until they start putting force feedback into joysticks and yokes and programming them properly in the underlying sim, it's just blind luck to get it right. On a side note, I run a Discord server and I've had several requests to get some reviewers in to share their videos, answer questions, basically do whatever you'd like. The Server invite is discord.gg/8nUgs3qWn5 if you're interested HMU there and we can discuss. This invite is also open to all simmers or simmer wanna-bes, we have cookies! Nice review!
Very true Kev, I think if I said that, it was said in jest ; ) I’m generally not opposed to little concessions like this being made in the sim. As you say, it’s not reality and so some concessions can be hugely beneficial. So long as the fix doesn’t detract from the realism of the aircraft, I think it’s common sense. I’m really pleased Just Flight added the alt hold function and I think they did it in a very nice, discreet way. I’d be more than happy to stop by your Discord and say hello to the guys and girls some time. I guess that’s a win win both ways and I’m happy to talk flight simming all day long! ; ) I’ll stop by when I get the chance and you can let me know more about exactly what you’re looking for. Thanks again Kev, all the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thank you kind sir (assuming it is sir?), when you get a chance to drop by, just drop me a PM in Discord, and remind me how we know each other and we'll go from there. Look forward to meeting you, even if it is only "virtually"...
@@IntotheBlueSimulations BTW, regards... "I’m happy to talk flight simming all day long! ; )", I'm lucky (in a twisted sort of way) that I can do that all day, every day. Unfortunately to do that required me to become disabled, unemployed, and unemployable, but it does let me talk simming all day long- and I DO, even though I occasionally get in trouble (especially with some mods) because I don't have a filter lol... Anyway, we can discuss this (and more!) once you're in Discord, and do so in private without clogging up the comments on your vids, like I'm doing now...
Yes, I remember you previously (briefly) mentioned your situation. Hi Adrian, I appreciate where you’re coming from and believe me, I’m no big fan of Apple; but I use an iPad at work all the time, I have one at home as well. In my brain, I see a tablet and tablet = iPad. It’s not the first time a brand has ended up becoming a colloquial term for a product. Hoover, Tannoy, to “Google” something etc. I’m not trying to endorse / advertise any one particular brand, I’m just speaking freely and off the cuff. I take your point and I will try and remember it, but I’m not going to get too carried away with censoring my own thought processes, for something that ultimately isn’t causing anyone harm. I think that’s fair and hope you understand All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Hey mate. Really loved your youtube video! I went a bit "radio rental" about tablets vs ipads! Yeah, I have fluxed over too many times by apple!
A little omission on my part (which I didn’t realise at the time). Apparently the discount only applies to owners of the FSX / P3D Arrow. I’m guessing you owned the X-Plane version previously? Sorry for the misinformation. All the best : )
Hmm, that’s very strange then Daniel. . . and I presume you purchased both the old and new version through Just Flight? If you did, then perhaps worth getting in touch with JF. They’re usually very helpful with these sorts of things : )
Haha, to each their own I suppose Stephen! I like the shed look ; ) I just saw today actually, there are modded clean textures available from flightsim.to (a very nice cream coloured panel). So if you are interested in the JF Arrow, but the interior textures are putting you off, perhaps worth a look! : ) All the best
All good except when you said, lets listen to the lovely external sounds of the engine, followed by rubbish loud music totally smothering the sounds of the engine????? other than that great video
Hi Steve, Thanks, I'm glad you broadly enjoyed the video! Haha, I did realise that point after the fact, but I didn't consider the music to be too detrimental to the video, since I did feature a couple of other external shots without any music (so one can still get a good feel for the sounds during the review). I try my best, but I'm never going to hit the mark 100% of the time ; ) Thanks very much for watching and all the best! : )

Haha, both of you have had gear issues? Seems like Just Flight need to do a little maintenance on their landing gear systems! : P
Really, really excellent review as always
Thanks very much once again Ole! As always, much appreciated. Glad to hear you enjoyed it / found it useful.
All the best!
It sounds like it would very much fit the bill and is another excellent offering (with incredible systems depth):

Enjoy your VOR NAV - always good fun in the sim!
Love these reviews - professional and well put-together. Many thanks indeed.
Thank you very much Japayuki! Glad you’re enjoying them, it’s my pleasure! : )
All the best
My Grandson loves your video's, they are so well made.
Ah well, that’s thoroughly nice to hear, Betty! I’m really glad he is enjoying the content : )
Many thanks and all the best (to you and your grandson)!
Although I qualified in this A/C some 45 years ago - Yesterday I kept crashing of take of - the answer from JF
"The flight dynamics have been developed using the latest MSFS techniques and therefore you must have your flight model set to ‘Modern’ for the aircraft to behave correctly."
That might just help someone else ------ great video as usual - Spitfire next
Thanks very much Jayteeaitch! Glad you enjoyed the video : )
Indeed.
Modern is set by default.
I found that if you turn down the Environment slider in the sound settings you will be able to hear the Morse code identifiers.
Great job.
You can choose a cleaner windscreen as an option.
Any chance of a starting clean and getting dirty during the flight ...or is that a bit hopeful given current limitations of the SDK ?
What a great little aircraft, if I had that on my key ring I would be well happy.
Haha indeed, I wouldn’t complain either Gary! ; )
All the best!
Its great to see G-BNSG in the game, this is an arrow that was at the club i did my PPL at - Andrewsfield
Ah very nice DC! You're pretty well covered in the sim then, with Just Flight's Arrow and Burning Blue Design's Andrewsfield haha. Are you still flying? : )
All the best!
Just flew the new release! I am so glad you did this review! Cheers!
Thanks Michael, glad you’re enjoying it!
It’s a great product for sure! Haven’t actually had the chance to try the latest version yet myself haha : D
All the best!
Hi Andrew,
It does indeed appear as though Just Flight got rid of that option for whatever reason.
Many thanks! Loved the in dept review. Will most probably buy this plane in MSFS. Had it in Xplane as well.
Thanks Mats, much appreciated! : )
Unfortunately I didn’t on the X-Plane version, so can’t compare, but what I can say is that the JF Arrow is currently by far the best GA aircraft we have available in the sim and I for one really enjoy it. If you pick it up, I hope you do too!
Cheers and all the best!
What a well-spoken, comprehensive review, thank you very much!
Thanks very much Leonard! My pleasure! Glad you found it informative etc : )
Can’t wait for the Turbo. The regular is so slow.
These FSEconomy flights are rough! Lol
Haha, all the better for taking in the scenery Jon! : P
But I’m looking forward to the Turbo as well I must say. Partly for the speed, partly for that wonderful T-tail.
All the best : )
Haha, again, you’ve just got to enjoy the scenery whilst you’re making all those $$ Jean! ; )
I love flying the Arrow!
Great Anthony, glad to hear it. Me too! : )
Hi Amigo. Did you use the trackIR for this video?, the moves in the cockpit are so good and realistic Thanks.
Hi Carlos,
Yes, I am indeed using TrackIR in the video. Do you use it yourself?
All the best : )
It is on my list to buy when I recover from what I Spend so far😋. Do you think is it worth it?. It looks it is. Thanks for the Video.
Haha, we all know how that feels! : D
It’s a little bit of a tricky question to answer Carlos, as obviously it’s a personal preference to some degree.
My pleasure! Good luck with it then, hope you enjoy it! : )

Inside looks brilliant...
Yeah, they’ve done a lovely job in the cockpit haven’t they! : )
Awesome review at the start it sounds like a passenger announcement keep up the great work.
Haha, thanks Damien! Glad you enjoyed it! Will do : )
very nice video, as always, I’ve enjoyed every moment! and really looks like a great product. would be perfect to go on with your tutorial videos, wouldn’t it? 😉 like IFR and flight controls training, eg. rpm and mixture controls... but it seems you are quite busy as a test pilot nowadays. 😃 anyway keep up the great work you are doing! 🙂
Haha, I am indeed now an unofficial test pilot! : P
Actually I am sloooowly plugging away with some new tutorials, but they have been taking a bit of a back seat as I do enjoy doing the reviews and those vids also tend to be a bit more popular. I’m using the Bonanza for the next tutorial series, as then it’s something everyone can follow along with : )
Thanks again Péter!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations answer sunday, huh? 😃 you are right, jut do what you enjoy and we will as well! 🙂
That’s the level of service you get over here at Into the Blue Simulations! ; )
I wish I could get both the used and new/refurbished version. Otherwise, the plane is a good one to fly.
Hi L CC,
Yes, personally I like the worn look to the aircraft, but I know it isn’t to everyone’s tastes. Just Flight do actually provide both a more worn and a *newer* set of textures for the cockpit, but neither texture set is pristine to be fair. As you say though, the Arrow is a very nice offering overall and still one of the best GA offerings in the sim.
Cheers and all the best! : )
"CLEAR PROP!" 😁
Just in case : P
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I forgot to say how much I also enjoyed your review. It was excellent - the best I seen for this airplane - in depth but still accessible.
Thanks very much Percy! Very kind of you to say and of course it’s always great to hear that people are enjoying the content! : )
All the best!
Thanks very much Rich, glad you enjoyed it : )
and thanks for the great info once again! Indeed, I didn’t realise that was the case. I will pin a comment accordingly. Likewise, I’m really looking forward to the Arrow on both counts, should be a bit of a steal at 34% of RRP + I love that T-tail! : P
Cheers and all the best!
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it : )
Yeah, it’s really nice having the option to swap out the avionics.
Hi Jagh,
It’s “so so” I would say.
I can only apologise for what I’ve been doing to your bank balance haha.
Haha, yeah. I may have had one or two bounces myself. . . Can neither confirm nor deny : D
in tems of fuel burn, the p28r burns the same as a da42ng bu the da42 takes jat a-1 which costs about half as much as avgas.. mental that a twin is cheaper than an sep
Curious why the cruise is so slow? Looks like 115kts, I thought the arrow iii was 135kts?
Hi Caleb,
Yes, this point has been brought up before, including by some real-world Arrow pilots.
I really have no idea at this point what could account for the difference. . .
I know that doesn't really clarify anything haha, but hopefully it adds some context to your comment : )
All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations oh no, is the flight model not accurate? What needs adjusting?
The aircraft is just rather twitchy at the moment. The flight model used to be pretty good, but through no real fault of Just Flight, subsequent sim updates have thrown it off a bit. I gather JF are currently working on an update though and in fact you can even get yourself a beta copy of the updated flight model, if you get in touch with Just Flight directly. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the fix : )
Cheers!
Agree totally about the overdone dirty windshield thing. Devs should at least have an option for a clean one if they feel the need to add spots or dirt for whatever reason.
There is a clean option included.
We have, you have an option.
Very sorry to hear that Hugh,
I guess I’m in the same boat then with the Seminole.
In sound settings set to headphones this will dull the aircraft engine and make comms and nav idents clear
Thanks Lee,
It’s a shame to have to dull the engine sounds, as in some aircraft they’re already not particularly loud, but I’ll give it a go and see what I think.
Thanks very much for the info! : )
That was an excellent review, very well done..
Thanks very much Ashley! Glad you enjoyed it : )
Thank you for this thorough review!
My pleasure my man! Thanks for watching! : )
Fine! This is what I want to have.. hoping the bugs are healed..
Hope you enjoy / are enjoying it! They actually just bought out a significant patch, that fixes a lot of issues.
All the best : )
Enjoying this Aircraft. It feels like a 'proper' aircraft for MSFS. Also there is a Compton Abbas airfield on flightsim.to much better than default!
Great to hear it! : )
Yeah, exactly. It feels like the first “serious” aircraft we’ve had in the sim. It’s also great fun to fly though. Really enjoying it myself too!
Thanks very much re the scenery. I will check it out.
@@IntotheBlueSimulations You are welcome.
Is there a way of applying some "fake" rudder, aileron trim in the sim ?
Sorry, I’m afraid I don’t quite understand the question. What do you mean by “fake”? You can trim the rudder of the Arrow, but not the Ailerons, as per the real aircraft.
Do you mean, can you trim aircraft that in the real world don’t have trim on that particular control surface? I’m not 100% sure in MSFS. In FSX etc you used to be able to edit the aircraft cfg file and set a trim tab for any control surface you liked. I expect you might be able to do the same in MSFS. By default though, I don’t think you can no.
Cheers
Does this thing have anti-ice? What if someone wanted to fly through clouds?
Hi Diego,
Checklist I just dug up online.
www.fltacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Arrow_Checklist.pdf
It’s actually for an Arrow II, but they’re broadly very similar.
As far as I’m aware, the towbar is just aesthetic. If you want to push back, you just have to do it as you would for any other aircraft in the sim (Shift+P works for me).
Hope that helps : )
*CLEAR PROP!*
I feel like that's your catchphrase now. XD
Hi Russel,
Yes, for most aircraft the registration in baked into the paint scheme (unfortunately). JF do however provide one livery where you can personalise your registration, as you would on other aircraft.
Hope that helps : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Good to know. thanks for clarifying :)
Thanks Russell, you’re most welcome! : )
Thank you for an honest review...just got it! 😊
My pleasure! Hope you are enjoying it!
Happy flying : )
hello! Comparing this with Mooney carenado..... what is the winner? Thanks!
Hi Jose
To some degree it depends what you want it for, but overall it’s definitely the PA28R (Just Flight version, not Carenado version). The Just Flight PA28 is a much more feature-complete product than the Carenado Mooney and has a lot more depth to it as well. Both are great fun though.
M20R Pros
Cheaper
Better performance in speed, climb etc
Better on frame-rates
Nicer external model
It's powerful, fast and capable. Get's you from A to B quickly and "in style"
PA28R Pros
Better flight model
Better systems modelling
More avionics options
Nicer internal model
Better sounds
If you buy the Arrow from Just Flight, you will get a 66% discount on the Turbo Arrow when that releases
The aircraft has a persistent state
If I could only chose one it would definitely be the PA28R (though I do really enjoy the Mooney as well).
Hope that helps : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations very very thanks
You’re most welcome! My pleasure : )
Great review of a great addon, thanks!
Thanks Robert! Yeah, it’s a lovely effort from Just Flight isn’t it : )
All the best!
Yeah, it’s a lovely aircraft.

Very comprehensive review thank you. I found the rudder quite twitchy and it sometimes has a tendency to turn right in flight. I can only use rudder trim to correct this. Still haven’t managed to get the adf to function. I must be missing something!
Hi Alan,
Thanks very much, glad you found it to be of use! : )
Yes, unfortunately the rudder can be a bit twitchy, I think the sim is at least partly to blame on that one though (as the rudder is overly sensitive generally).

Hi, just come across your channel and love what ive seen so far,
Question, ive being on/off flightsim for over 20 years and love to fly planes, i go from A-B, but mostly from A- where ever and get bored, i want to delve into the ATC side of things more and plotting courses and reading airports better, problem i have is im dyslexic, and really struggle to retain information read from a text book, but visually or watching youtubes really helps with me retaining information,
So, do you have any tut videos on these kind of things ?
Thanks
Hi Wolfe,
Well welcome to the channel and thank you very much! : )
I do have a tutorial series. It’s aimed at beginners, so really covers the basics, but you might still get something out of it. The latter episodes focus on VFR navigation etc. Similarly I have a couple of tutorial series available for the Airbus - if you’re into any of that. Fair warning ahead of time though, these were some of my earlier attempts at content creation and as such, they’re a bit more “rough around the edges” and I fear I sound a bit bored haha XD

Glad you enjoyed the review : )
No, just using default ATC here. Do you have the “Azure” option turned on for ATC voices? That will make a big difference (otherwise the voices will sound quite robotic).
Yeah, looking forward to the arrival of the Turbo Arrow myself!
would be cool to see the option for a 430 in this thing looks fun though regardless

Ah, that’s interesting!
I guess the transponder in the JF Arrow doesn’t fully communicate with the sim or something then. . . Well I have to say, I’m glad it’s JF issue and not a sim issue; I’m sure JF are much more likely to fix it than Asobo : P
Thanks again Achim for the info. All the best : )
I’m afraid your post got deleted by UA-cam Achim (as it contained a link). But I see what you were getting at. I see the update has now been released. It looks rather comprehensive! Looking forward to giving it a go when I get the chance : )

Thanks very much once again : )
Only running in 1080p on my end.
Sorry, I can’t really think what else would be causing the difference. . .
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I guess should be Nvidia settings. I'll keep watching forums. Thanks again!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations yay! with patch 0.2.0 it seems they solved!

Are you using Trackir5? if so where did you buy it?
Hi Jenny,
I am indeed, yes. I bought mine from Amazon, but that was many years ago now. Prior to that, I believe I bought my previous TrackIR direct from the company (if my memory serves me correctly).
Are they a bit hard to get hold of at the moment then (like everything else)?

How do I get it to follow the flight plan via nav?
Hi Paul, sorry for the slow reply.
If memory serves me correctly; all you need to do is have the autopilot turned on, HDG hold turned on, have the rotary selector on NAV and make sure than CDI is set to GPS (as opposed to VOR / LOC) on the GPS. The aircraft should then track your GPS routing.
Let me know if that works for you? Otherwise I’ll investigate further. . .
Cheers : )
Something is off in the ground handling at higher speeds with this bird. Cant quite put my finger on it. The way it departs the ground feel unnatural.
Hi Fred,
Unfortunately, that which you mention, is a bit of an issue with MSFS in general.

Thanks very much for the info Rich, very useful for others! : )
Hi Duke,
I ran a few more tests to see.

@@IntotheBlueSimulations yes haha sry i was not clear enought 😆 i bought it a while back at simflight 😊 best ga plane there is !
i was about to buy this when i saw your review the 15 fps frame drop is a major concern as with my set up currently my stock frame rate is only 30 which im happy with at the moment its nice and smooth but a 15 fps drop from that would be a disaster. Can anyone else confirm this amount of fps drop?
No fps drop here.
Hi Jenny,
Is that 30 FPS with something like the default C152, or 30 FPS with a G1000 aircraft? If you’re getting 30 FPS with a G1000 aircraft, I’d imagine the JF Arrow might perform around the same. If you’re getting 30 FPS with the C152, then I suspect the Arrow might be a bit of hit on your system.
If you have a “typical” scenario you like to run in the sim; I’m happy to test between the two aircraft and let you know what the difference is.

Hi Alex,
You can change the sensitivity settings via the Controls menu (there are sensitivity options amongst other things).

Hi in what button I turn on the gaming 530 I can’t turn in on . Thanks
Hey,
That’s very strange.

Very true Kev, I think if I said that, it was said in jest ; )
I’m generally not opposed to little concessions like this being made in the sim.
I guess that’s a win win both ways and I’m happy to talk flight simming all day long! ; )

I appreciate where you’re coming from and believe me, I’m no big fan of Apple; but I use an iPad at work all the time, I have one at home as well.
