I definitely remember the high pitched door closing chimes as well as the motor sounds of the 3K rail cars those days especially when I first moved to and lived in the area in late 1986 through early 1987
OMG! I miss the old Metro -the colors, the smell, the sounds. I remember the door chimes you on the 1000s were identical to the NYCTA's R46s through R68As. The 1000s had a different sound than the 3000s & 4000s when accelerating. Now everything looks and sounds the same.
this from 1991 the year I was born man I would be born later that same year I use to love catching the Washington Metro Train one these days wow 25 years ago so old but nice video and footage from Early 1990s love it gotta missed those years and days catching Yellow Line and Red Line that was good year but some say was crazy I don't believe that.
@@theplushydogo3295 or 3k series since they wasn't rehabbed yet. I believed they didn't get the exterior speakers until the late 1990s. The pre rehabbed 3ks have the same buzzing sound as the new 4ks do, but it is significantly more pronounced compared to the 4ks
@@its-LuqmanVlogs or 3000 series prior to rehabbed. both the 3000 and 4000 series breda cars had the chopper control propulsion which give it the buzz when in motion. There is even a 2000 series in this video and it was shown on the lower level of Metro Center. Unlike the it's later cousins the 2ks had cam control propulsion, and it was silent like the pre rehabbed 1ks(not shown).
@@SuperWorldRailFanProductions Good to know, when I was little I would always be like how in the world are all the train cars moving without something holding them together 😂 I was like 5
Classic Metro, before all of its modern problems. Brings me back to childhood.
The buzzing sounds like the buzzing in Baltimore subway

0:18 I like the old sound of the train. It's kinda a neat sound!

Also, the trains are louder now than before.
The 7k trains are particularly loud
Yes me too! I remember the high pitched door closing chimes on the Breda 2Ks & 3Ks back in those days
@@CentralJerseyRailfan There was even complaints from residents about it who lived near tracks.
This is due to their weight and propulsion systems.
4:17 the best sound 😩😎
I have video from the Metro on all the lines. A lot has changed throughout the years.
0:19 breda 2000/3000/4000 series closing chime
4:17 That sound omg I miss it

I love this sound my step brother was born in 1991
Lots of 1000 series cars!! Love it!!
Were those cars refurbished? They sound like those 4000 series engine startup

I hate the 1000s but the 1000s are better and amazing in 1991
@@darkness6070 These are unrehabilitated 3000 series cars.
Back when Metro was good
miss this
I did not know they had 4 cars in the 1990s untill now
Anyone notice no chain link barriers between the railcars during that time.
Yes I did noticed that, but I don't think Metro started add Chain barriers until the 2000's came, as an person who rode Metro since the 90's
@@dreamyyx_3762 It was added when the (now retired) 5000-series entered service, as they were originally delivered with link barriers.

0:30 Is that an automated speaker?
That classic door ring
(Horn: 1:41)
Cicada Buzzing 3000's Bredas.
And they took off like a roaring jet engine! More like the sound of a commercial jetliner taking off!
Legit the day Terminator 2 came out
I wasn't born in 1991
3:15 OMG 2000 SERIES
Old metro buzz
1000 series sounds were annoying on the track. I prefer the 8000, 3000, and 7000 noise
Bro what 8k you like 5 years early 💀
