  • When designed tastefully, Virtual Sets can give a small production shop the ability project a professional ‘large studio’ image - without the floor space, lighting, and general fabrication costs required by physical sets. That said, many of the Virtual Set designs being used today lack a sense of dimensionality and can give off a relatively flat and static vibe.
On today’s show, we will explore a creative way to break out of this traditional ‘Virtual’ Set look. Combining VMix’s core Virtual Set framework with multiple MIX Inputs, multiple video Masks, and a little bit of scripting, we will show how to add a realistic ‘floating video window’ to a basic Virtual Set design.
If you'd like to access any of the scripts used during our shows, here is the link to our Streaming Alchemy GitHub Repository:

Great Show! Where do I get a VU Map? Do I build it or can I get it online or is it special made?

can you have an animated UV mask? So far as I can see, vmix virtual sets can only refer to a static .PNG for the UV map. But what if I want to have a live input move around within the Virtual Set? Can vmix do that?

Unfortunately you can't have animated UV maps in vMix virtual sets - I could see some really cool uses for that. That said, if you are mapping greenscreen footage onto a larger UV map it can be keyed out. This will make everything keyed out around the object transparent and allow an object to move around the set as needed. Hope this helps.
      Thanks for watching!
