an easy way to tighten your bmx wheel if you have brakes is to pull on the brake when the pads are right over the rim and hold it there and VOILA PERFECT CHAIN TENSION
Good tip about the washers with knurling, Doug. I think that's often overlooked or misunderstood. Absolutely love integrated chain tensioners to help dial your rear end in.
Yeah I had never heard about the knurling either. And I'm pretty good at straightening my rear wheel. Another tip I'd recommend, is to get it about where you want it, and then pedal hard and it will center itself and then tighten down while it's spinning.
Oh man this brings back memories turning my Diamondback upside down putting the rear tire back on my foot against the seat post trying to get that darn chain tight and the wheel on straight haha that was funny
Integrated tensioners lol. I won’t buy another frame without them. I have the kink contender with the knurling on the inside of the drop out. Great design and I think it’s the only frame that has that feature
In this day and age buy a frame with chain tensioners. Tighten both sides until they’re just loose enough to move the wheel with your hand. Pull the wheel tight with your hand and keep it straight while you tighten one side (usually non-dive side first). Tighten the other side. Spin it to make sure it’s straight. Good to go.
Tightening one side then the other until it's centred worked for me. Now my wheel moves closer to the front and makes chain loose... Fckin' BMX design... I know about chain tensioners but I have not tried one yet and do not want to. Chain is tight enough... Chain slaps when jumping is what gets me...
Buy chain tensioners. Sure it’s not hard to tighten your chain. But each side lets also allows you to adjust the tire alignmentment at the same time. Also it locks the wheel in place so when you pedal hard nothing moves.
my problem is. when i tighten the wheel, it doesnt move. but the second i start to pedal it shifts. i have pegs so im not using the spacers that u showed could that be why? i never had these problems before i bought a hub guard and now i have them
About to give my $600 bike to a bum. Changed my back wheel, popped inner tube, first time in almost 20 years and I have a peg on it and I’m about to punch the concrete

Chain Tensioners help with this issue as well
Wish I would’ve known this before I ran a wheelset without spacers for a week on my favorite frame… damn

everyone always says to pull the washers, but I keep them between the peg and frame/dropout for the knurling/grip and they don't move.
Tnqu sir you litterly gave an idea 💡
you saved my life
Thanks man

I feel you man. Been riding 6 months and I’ve worked on my bike more than I’ve rode it. It’s a constant fucking problem.
the same thing happened to my front wheel is it normal?
single speed too
I fucking hate my bike I’ve worked on it more than I’ve rode it. Constant fucking work for such a simple stupid machine
