@ I did! I took one of the group classes with Arianna Powell. It’s a great platform. Super straightforward. You just pay directly for the lessons you want from whichever teacher or teachers you choose.
I'm curious - you said you have been playing 20 years which obviously means you picked up guitar young. You also mentioned having been able to receive instruction through a high school class. I'm guessing you went to college for music too. So what is the extent of your education in this regard?
@ I’ve been playing since I was 10! I took a few lessons from a local teacher when I first started. And my high school classes weren’t really a place to learn, they were just electives and easy credits for more experienced players. I started playing in bands when I was 12 and learned pretty much everything on my own. I didn’t learn any music theory at all until 6 or 7 years ago. I don’t have any other education.
@@andrewclarkeguitar Wow. I started playing at 14 - took a few lessons from local teacher but I usually just got him to show me how to play a Nirvana song. Everything changed when I got into The Beatles and I started writing. I wrote more songs & blurbs I call them (pieces, "sketches" of musical bits often with nonsense placeholder lyrics) than I can remember but the ones I do or that I recorded turn out all be in key or correctly use borrowed chords. Some life event always got in the way though. I took to a breakup real bad at 20 so I joined the Navy to get out of town. That is not the most conducive environment to creativity but after I had my second phase and things were looking really good even though I was still doing everything by ear. I never got "good" at guitar but I could write songs. I told you about my Dad and that resulted in me getting away from music for the longest but now things are clicking like they never have before. It is no wonder now you are so big on playing along with songs. You come back to that again and again on lots of topics because that is how you learned. Where can I hear your original stuff? I want a sound that essentially combines the Beatles and Cream. I don't know if you ever heard of The Redwalls. They unfortunately only made a couple albums but they are the "newest" group that I know of that kinda have the sound I want. Lord Huron is good too. On the more folk side of things as I love some Bob Dylan too are The Avett Brothers and The Devil Makes Three. So is this what you do full time?
Has anyone here used Til or similar (lessonface, ect...)? I'm in the late beginner stage and didn't know if it's worth finding an in person teacher or go with the convenience of an online teacher. The promo had me wondering
I’ve used Til and love it. The teachers on Til are mind blowingly good. And the video quality is just like being in the same room, so I love the convenience. Have learned more in the past 2 months than the last 20 years
i don't know if there is an answer for it but, my hands are thick and short, they touch the strings below even when i fret on the tips of my finger and try to play fast... is there any solution for it??
@@thisismyyoutubeaccount3322 i was considering buying one but what if i wanna play a steel string only, thats what the issue is!! i still appreciate your concern man.....
Suhr is a high end guitar manufacturer specializing in extremely fine quality instruments. They're incredible guitars and that's reflected in the price. John Suhr was a Senior Master Builder for the Fender Custom Shop in the 90s before launching his own company. They're basically Fender Custom Shop guitars with more modern appointments. I have owned my two Suhr guitars since 2017 and I feel very lucky to have them.
He didn't say what key the song was in and I was like are you going to finish and tell us what the answer is...was the last note the key ...it sounded like it was the tonal center
2nd last note was the tonal center. The song was in D major. Can be a little tough to recognize since the chorus chord progression starts on the V chord (A Major). If you're only goal is to find the key of the song (which is not exactly the aim of this particular exercise) then I would use a different method. One I teach in a bunch of my other videos.
Thanks for watching! And make sure you go here to get $20 off your first guitar lesson on Til: til.co/andrewclarke
Have you used Til, Andrew, and if so, what did you think?

What song are you listening to when doing the exercise? I know it will work for any song I just kinda dig it. 😂
The first one is called "CIncinnati" by Loving Caliber and the second one is called "Never Mine, Never Yours" by Loving Caliber.
@ Sweet. That’s actually pretty funny because I live in Cincinnati and had never heard that before. Thanks for the reply!

Get a guitar with wider string spacing
@thisismyyoutubeaccount3322 i don't know, that doesn't seem to help, my hands are short too! i still appreciate the concern bro!
@@intenseseeds Maybe it's not wide enough lol. Have you tried a classical guitar?

@@intenseseeds Yeah I just mean try one and see if it works for you then you can find a steel string with those specs :)
The up to down transition from 2013 power point made me think I got a notification. Yes, I am high😅

something off topic but why does this guitar cost £3500?
