I swear, every time Librarian says "In the desert" throughout the video, my brain immediately autofills to "you can't remember your name, 'cause there ain't no-one for to give you no pain."
what's the point, then? you can only hear him going "oooh what is this", you don't actually see what he's "oooh"ing at. sounds like an empty experience to me
As someone who recently sold a 100 year old Craftsman house and moved into a trailer, I can see the "high-end bedding" perspective. All of the windows and the natural setting lend a glamping kind of vibe to everyday living, which we love. We're excited to get the wood stove fired up for our first snowstorm. It's across from our couch next to a large picture window, and you better believe I've put a lot of thought into crafting a cozy spot there, lol. The bookshelf is in reach of the couch and everything
@AdolfHitler-wo1my 1. Fat check. 2. We moved from Kansas to the Black Hills of South Dakota for my wife's dream job, so it was a pretty great move, lol
17:25 Oh boy, the mention of the radio tower and the radio station itself under the moon in a silent desert town... Welcome To Night Vale immediately came to mind. At the beginning I was thinking if there was going to be some sort of nod to that series, since the map is a desert town at night so it checked that from the list.
these sorta maps are like little vignettes, just snapshots of a particular moment in time that allows you to fully explore and flesh out every detail and emotion that it could make you feel. And then when you RP on those maps it goes from a vignette to a full narrative that shows how those feelings mesh with ordinary hustle and bustle of human activity
Imagine spending the first 25 years of your life in this town. Nights just like this you're perched on top of one of those radio towers, taking a long drag off your cigarette and looking wistfully off into the distance wanting more but afraid to leave that simple and quiet life. It's the paradox of small town America. It doesn't just protect you from the world, it _keeps_ you from it.
Imagine if this map had random paranormal activity going on like you turn a corner and a shadowy hand slips around a wall but when you go to check there's no where for anyone to go
if I had the time and motivation I think making a dark souls like player ghost system that people can record their movements and stuff to create effects like this without having to add manual map integration. Would only really be the best on popular maps but it's an idea
Seeing these towns with this creepy but comfy feeling (especially in the middle of nowhere). I keep thinking about the town from my paranormal story. Think about it a suburban town located in the middle of a woods that is surrounded by an aura of mystery and unknown. Quite a perfect place for a haunted town
33:33 you're thinking of elephant graveyards. tho they seem to just be folklore, the imagery used in movies like the lion king was definitely effective on us growing up, so i can see why you'd think of it. the other one is a whale fall, which is when a carcass reaches the seafloor, and i can't imagine anything more horrific than coming across a huge deposit of whale corpses and knowing Something killed and put them there itself, since they usually float and the currents will carry them off. thanks for the awful idea!
Even though its called Chaparral (Mediterranean brushland native to California), it looks a lot more like the Chihuahuan desert: a desert that mainly covers New Mexico, Texas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, and Nuevo Leon.
this suggestion is a bit out there, but a one off video on Mudrunner might be cool. I always find it very atmospheric and quite creepy at night, especially in the seemingly abandoned hamlets and villages. Closer to the comfy side of creepy comfy, but being alone in your truck in the dead of night, surrounded by dense forest can certainly make you feel uneasy.
8:36 As far as I know it's related to optimization - when the doors are closed or the player is far away enough there is no need to render interiors and when it's misconfigured it might result in something like this.
There was a building in my old neighborhood that had this underground parking garage which my folks actually called "the cave" for that reason! Sometimes we'd walk a little ways into it to test our courage, and needless to say, we never got far.
Hello Librarian, I'm still watching your videos and enjoying them. GM Chaparral is a spooky map and yet it has that ambiance that makes you feel welcome. The moonlight, the red lights of the tower, and the silence. Your voice is the only thing heard in this quiet place as you lead us on through your video. You found an underground facility, and it has everything. Well except a UFO.
Him coming upon the aircraft graveyard reminded me of the Cosmodrome from Destiny 1 and 2, which has an area that is an aircraft graveyard. Usually one of more sparse areas when it comes to the presence of hostile aliens, mainly the Fallen who usually are there to scavenge parts and tech for their own purposes. Get a little more opportunity to soak in the atmosphere of the environment. Especially when waiting on a Public Event or just out gathering resources.
Walking into a dilapidated, gross, and small looking trailer and going "my dream home" unironically is the sort of unique takes that makes me enjoy this channel. Trailers can be nice, though, and don't really deserve the disdain they get.
I always love watching all of this the gmod videos. It will continually make my day when a new gmod video is uploaded, and I always want to revisit the older videos because I love them that much
Perfect timing for the Liberian to post a Gmod exploration video while I’m on a long, foggy road trip. Thanks Liberian I love your Garry’s Mod videos! 🗿🍷
Ive heard about teardown adding VR support soon (there is still a mod for it now). I think that game is almost perfect for exploration, so im just suggesting an awesome alternative to gmod.
I love your content!! please play gm_deep sea research! Its top of the workshop right now! Its very creepy and comfy, i always feel like im being watched!
Saying the Police station would have 3 or 4 on duty officers.. is so true. Living in a small rural town myself, my local PD is literally only 3 officers.
Know that I can say that a lot of these buildings and assets are from gta 5’s sandy shores or somewhere else in that map. The red and white garage he seen in the beginning was the fire dept from sandy.
I don’t know why but this map reminds me of the area that my grandmother’s house is in. She lives in the country side area of the state she’s in where there is nothing but flat ground and crop fields that go on forever. There are barely any houses there and there’s no grocery store, or any stores for that matter, for miles. You can barely get service on your phone down there. Her house is located down this long and abandoned road that leads to a dead end and it’s surrounded by trees, so the only way you’d see it is if you just happened to go down that road for no reason. Her house is the only building that’s on that road and across from it is an old crop field that has an abandoned graveyard in it with about 4 graves and a tree growing in the middle of them. Pretty sure she’s been in that house since 1950 something.
You missed some Easter eggs, ones at the entrance of the military base on the boxes, There is an abandoned mine somewhere in the mountains with suprise inside (recomend using a flashlight as you enter), on the hotel, you can brake one of the doors thats locked with police tape.
I wouldn't be surprised one bit, especially after seeing Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. For 1968 there were some damn good special effects which makes me wonder if the USA really landed on the moon. With a race on against the Soviet Union at the time I imagine NASA could resort to desperate measures. 48:25 😀
Safety Glock is great and all, but my chosen armament for exploring maps is an AR-15 chambered in .50 Beowulf. I highly recommend it. AR-15.50, I believe it's called.
Voices of the void 4 when? In all seriousness its great whenever you make a video you are a sight too behold sometimes and it's like Christmas morning whenever you post
Can you play The Cursed Factory? It’s a Minecraft horror map if you didn’t play it. Now I’m gonna binge watch your content. Love ya The Librarian!! ❤❤❤
15:11 this exact frame here reminds me of that one game where a... girl returning from some kind of conference, her cars dead and had to stay on a motel and there's this creep trying to get in the room, I forgot the name. maybe they use same asset?
Was looking for this comment, they're right out of l4d2, and the trailer interior is almost exactly the same as ones in l4d2. Also that bank was just like the one from GTA5! But cool map nonetheless.
had to scroll so much to find someone talking about it. once he turned the corner i couldn't register what he was even saying, just thinking about grabbing that cola and running
26:47 Wait a minute. Isn't this interior almost exactly looks like L4D2 store. The one you retrieved a box of coke to give to the shop owner. Now that i think about it. Some interior do kinda look familiar to an extent.

I was actually getting a little bit of a "Night Vale" vibe with those lights on the water tower.
Oh man, I love your GMOD videos, the atmosphere is perfect to fall asleep to, not in a bad way. Keep it up Brother !
I always love the details of the moon at night, it shines with a silvery hue as you walk through the valley of shadows for macabre exploration.
Most US desert towns exist because there used to be a railroad.
