I appreciate the effort put into it. Just a heads, up, if you use digital spdif in, you are gimping you sound to the far lowest denominator and likely not getting ATMOS. You will only get very low bitrate, COMPRESSED, AC3, 5.1, legacy audio. You likely will be listening to a 640 Kbps (.640 Mbps) audio stream. When input is HDMI it can give up to 18 mbps UNCOMPRESSED! There is no way you can audition the quality of this soundbar fairly using that SPDIF digital in. Connecting directly with hdmi from blue-ray or your source it will decode the best audio format. ARC will not get it done (no Atmos) and eArc is good but sometimes has its limitations (compressed formats from TV streams) but can pass atmos. However if you are streaming audio from the internet, from your TV, you are getting Dolby Digital Plus ( DDP/ EAC3) which is lower bandwidth COMPRESSED audio worse than Dolby TrueHD, which you find on Blu-ray or ripped files. Its still great, just not gonna maximize the soundbar's potential. A format like Dolby TrueHD with atmos can go up to 18Gbps of lossless (not compressed) audio, and averages around 1.5-6 Mbps. All these uncompressed high bitrate audio formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA (not Atmos compatible) have a wrapper that contains two audio files, one high bitrate uncompressed audio track AND one dinky legacy compressed format used as a fallback, like the old 5.1 AC3 that is very low bitrate and compressed, and DOES NOT SUPPORT ATMOS. It falls back when hardware is not compatible with the uncompressed and Atmos audio file. READ: SPDIF NOT COMPATIBLE. It will fallback to legacy AC3. So you are auditioning you're soundbar using 30 year old AC3 low-fi audio with no Atmos, with spdif in. DOn't use spdif, if you want great sound. You are paying for the Atmos, so use Atmos if you can. Use HDMI. If your tv is only Arc, yer kinda screwed if you want full bandwidth audio, check your tv for Atmos compatibility. eArc is Atmos compatible. Blue-rays sent directly to the soundbar with HDMI would ensure best sound when playing a Blu-ray with Dolby TrueHD.
So what's Arc HDMI I'm confused? Coming from someone with absolutely no idea, I've just bought a Samsung Qled and got a free one of these sound bars with it, what's the best way to set it up? Will be streaming from disney/netflix etc but will also be using my PS5 as a 4k Blu Ray player.

However if you have a DVD player with a Dolby Atmos track, you will need eARC to use uncompressed Dolby Atmos. The difference between the 2 is the amount of bandwidth they provide. ARC is older, eARC is newer.

Hey bro need your opinion was looking for soundbar and taught of either this or the hw-q60r. Would like to knw which sounds better since u have gave both good reviews. I am just using toslink as i am pairing it with my monitor so need some input with that. Is it worth to spend more on this current soundbar or will the hw-q60r just enough. Wait until you find a Samsung TV that has Q Symphony technology that this sound bar also support Dolby Atmos Q Symphony which also uses the TV integrated speakers as well as the speakers from the soundbar. Anyone buying the soundbar is wasting their money they're TV doesn't support Q Symphony.
@@caseychaffin5445 yeah but his apparently don't because not once did he mention it. I don't know about other Samsung TV models but my S95C uses both the soundbar and the integrated speakers in the TV when the smart audio is turned on. The "Adaptive" audio he will not work correctly if the TV doesn't support the Q Symphony.

My HDMI ports were taken up with other devices. I haven't had any lip sync issues

How well does it perform when streaming music from your phone, either via AirPlay or Spotify Connect?
It does really good with Bluetooth. Much better than using a portable speaker because of it size.

If you are looking to pair it with a monitor than I would just go with the cheaper one of the two. Both are great soundbars.
