03:04 In Indonesia, we called it, Wallet (Swallow) Bird's Nest. People eat their saliva made nest for health purpose. Some even made into healthy drink. It taste like jelly drink. Just like in Philippines, we Indonesian also consider to be lucky when their house is getting nested by Wallet Bird, they choose to move their residence, and turn their house into Wallet Nest Farm instead.
African American and Chinese Fusion? Bro I’m Asian and I’ve never heard of that kind of fusion before. I would love to try some but I can’t afford a trip to New Orleans😢😭😭
It's a delicacy here in Vietnam as well It's ridiculously expensive, my mom prefers to buy raw nests then pick the features out herself The raw nest is still expensive though
how did you get that number? it's 80,000 birds, so let's give it a chance that's there are 40,000 pairs, that's 40,000 nests. $40,000 x $200 = $8,000,000 (8 million USD) [ i use the lowest value number because there's not always guarantee for high value nest]
Excelon The 4th Avalon Heirs Yeah! I haven’t drink it in a LONG while. Unlike the video though, it was sweet instead, and we used rock sugar and everything. I wish I can have some right now lol.
God bless these people who take such pride in their food. That's what makes the food taste so good is their passion for cooking the food. It's insane how intensive it is but I give them such credit for what they do. Good job guys, please keep it up. We need people who cook like that instead of people who just cook stuff the day before and sell it the next day or even all week until they get rid of it all. It's gross, like the first people do, the food should be made fresh every day and should be made to order. Not having food sit around for God knows how long until somebody orders it.
There one gripe for me with Vietnamese noodle in the US. After all the normalization and trade, they still haven’t been able to put proper Pho noodle into a bowl of Pho. In many places we still have to settle for the thin, insubstantial pho noodle.
Portland has GREAT Asian restaurants and stores. Zien Hong. Fubon. Rose VL. Pho Oregon. I live in N.E. Portland and feel blessed they are here. Of course I am addicted to their soups. All of Portland has many excellent restaurants as well. Portland has hundreds of talented and very special people cooking here. Come try them. But don't stay.😄
I'm gonna come to this restaurant soon when i drive to California From WA. I need to try all the Vietnamese cuisine to see which local can make the best
08:24 So far, I'm not really into Japanese instant noodles cup. Because they tend to be more delicate and easy to get soggy if you soak it on hot water too long. Our nation instant noodles are more firm and got something to chew when you eat it. 😊
Pho is great and all, but wait till you westerners discover the Indonesian Soto Ayam and Soto Betawi, those two are one of the most underrated soup dishes I've ever had
Do you ever wonder how people find out that they can eat things? Like how did someone at some point look at those nasty nests and go "huh...could probably boil that and eat it." ?????
Same with most of these foods. People where hungry and desperate so they looked to the things around them. It’s why pesto and pasta exists or the birds nest soup
@@user-im4my8hg3d Oh it really does ! There are many variations, but the most famous and the most common is the Soto Ayam. Hope you'd like it when you tried it !
Actually, the bird's nest soup came from the imperial Viet Nam dish. Now, it is eaten all over southeast Asia. It is the most expensive animal-related food ingredient, they say.

Looking at the soggy noodles, they probably made the noodles way early before recording. So the soup got absorbed by the noodles.
