Spruce Grouse Calls (male) - Up-close in Banff National Park

Recently I visited Banff National Park in Canada. While hiking on a trail near Mount Assiniboine, this male Spruce Grouse was blocking our path. As you can see, it had no fear of us.

Is another name for this bird also Guinea Fowl? Or is the GF plumage more speckled?

No this is not another name for a Guinea Fowl. But yes, Guinea Fowl are more speckled. But they do look alike. Thanks for watching.

I live in the interior of Alaska. I've seen them on my property but I've never heard them. May 2, 11:30 pm, I asked Alexa if they are nocturnal, answer, no. LOL, apparently nothing is nocturnal in the land of the Midnight Sun😂
