A Red Grouse Calling in Perthshire, Scotland

On one of my tours of Scotland with a group of lovely ladies from the USA, we drove up the beautiful route from Crieff (where we were staying) to Kenmore, going over Glen Quaich in the process. Shortly after taking the side road from Amulree, I spotted this male Red Grouse on the wall. He didn't seem to be concerned about us, and stayed on the wall for more than enough time for me to capture this footage and to take some really nice photos too. I love his call!

Just parked up in the middle of nowhere to have a Jimmy Riddle and I seen this bird in the distance and heard this noise. I thought it was a Grouse and this video confirmed it. Brilliant. Nature is just amazing !! 👍🏽😀

This sounds like a ptarmigan

It’s a very closely-related species, technically not considered a “true” ptarmigan because its feathers don’t change color with the seasons.
