can we appreciate the bullet bouncing of the helmet while he is dying at 05:12
“Many historians and writers consider the Canadian victory at Vimy a defining moment for Canada, when the country emerged from under the shadow of Britain and felt capable of greatness. Canadian troops also earned a reputation as formidable, effective troops because of the stunning success. But it was a victory at a terrible cost, with more than 10,000 killed and wounded.”
-Tim Cook (Chief Historian and Director of Research at the Canadian War Museum)
My Great Great Grandfather took part in the Battle of Vimy Ridge and we believe he was wounded there. We don't know if it was bullets or shrapnel but he took 3 hits to the chest and required a plate to be put in his chest to keep everything from collapsing. He had to use a cane for the rest of his life and the front of his chest was pretty messed up from wounds and the following surgery, but in the end he ended up almost making it to 80 years old.
Absolute Chad. Canadians are a hard people.
Kudos for the new scripting approach. I love the aggressive charge through the wasteland.
I could never wrap my head around how SO MANY people could die in a single attack.
This simulation really puts it into perspective… seeing all the war movies and how many people die in them might make you think that it’s over exaggerated… but in fact, it’s under exaggerated.
Truly horrifying but such a great idea for videos.
I really want to see more of this type of stuff… just watched your Meuse Argonne offensive video too.
Can’t wait for the attack on Gallipoli video (definitely looking forward to) 💯💯💯
Subscribed.
I think an awesome video, would be if you did one of these on the Canadian attack on Juno Beach and/or one on the Canadians in Paschendale
As a Canadian this is epic! 👍 🇨🇦
My family both sides. Have been in ever war from the revolutionary war as empire loyalists/
1812 butlers rangers.

I served in the Lincoln n welland regiment and have family currently serving.
Wow family in Canada, germany AND korea.
Canada took Vimy ridge by using the rolling barrage technique
Which they also invented fighting with the British in Africa. UBIQUE
What’s that?
@@jeffreyisbell7471since no one explained it to you, I will.
The rolling barrage was an attack plan that consisted of a very organised and coordinated operation by both the frontline soldiers and the artillery units. The artillery would fire a barrage, and then incrementally increase the distance of the shots at the walking pace of the frontline.
This would cause a “rolling” of the barrages (where the name comes from) where there would constantly be a wall of artillery fire covering up the frontline’s advance. This would go on until they reached the enemy trench, whereupon the soldiers would fight a bloody melee against the suppressed and disoriented defenders.
If executed properly, the enemy trench would fall with light casualties to the attacking side, however; if the barrage went too quickly for the frontline, the men would be out in the middle of no man’s land without cover and would be decimated by enemy fire. Should the barrage go too slow, the barrage would end up hitting their own frontline troops, causing immense casualties due to them being out in the open.
An extremely risky operation for the ill-prepared or uncoordinated, and thus it was not employed as often as one would assume.
You can likely find more details about the rolling barrage on old military documents from the UK, or something, cheers!
@@jeffreyisbell7471 where the arty lands just in front of the infantry as they advance it also called creeping barrage
I personally think the visuals on this one were perfect much better than vanilla
THANK YOU D! We’ve been waiting for this!
the only problem with this attack is there are no creeping arty barrage in front of the Canadians
Fantastic video! Super exited for the ANZAC video, can you do a Battle of Brisbane or Manners Street Battle scenario? Would love to see those two as well
I second this request.

Would have been nice to see a creeping barrage prior to the assault but a great play non the less

They aren't _real_ canadians unless there's war crimes after the battle. Ooooooh Caaanada, we stand on guard for theeeeee!
Hey true man my grandfather took teeth and fingers 😬
@@lynneshiamm But not scalps though, that would be unseemly.
@@keegobricks9734 hosntly to much work I'd say
@@lynneshiamm At least they'd make great pot holders since they'd be square.
There was creeping barrages, and tanks in the first waves of attack.
Ww1 tug of war would be cool if possible
I could, as I am sure many of us could, talk at length about these battles in WWI.
That being said, I see that the game for this is the original Men o
.b could somebody let me know where I cann find this mod
How do you make big battles like this? Are there any tutorials?
Try the Italians!!
Hi
so many casualties because of ww1 tactics and medical care.
this game is fantastic but I wish the developers would fix the AI and the death animations..so tired of killed soldiers repositioning after their deaths
First 🎉 finally
