  • There are many videos showing how to make 4 or 5 gallons of laundry detergent at a time, but if you're like me, you really don't want to deal with that big of a volume at one time. So I decided to show how I refill my 1-gallon jug when I run out of laundry detergent at home. Hope you find it useful.

Thank you for you share, for smaller amounts! I have one minor add that may help the separation,😊 add 2tsp. Of glycerin to the hot mix before cooling and it helps with the separation . I still blend bottle gently before dispensing . ❣️✨❣️ hope this helps

When you pour it in the old laundry bottle, do you pour it all in the bottle or just some of it and add water.

I think when I watch it the second time I got my answer. you pour it in the old laundry jug when cold, is that right.

I make my own DIY laundry detergent also but I do the powder and don't use any borax. I do one bar of Fels Naptha with 3 cups of washing soda, that is all. Every time I do laundry, put one tbsp of the mixture in and add about 1 tbsp of baking soda into it.

Just to summarize, you put in 1/4 bar of Fel Naptha, about 3/4 cup of borax and 3/4 cup of washing soda?

I'm guessing you can also use a bar of Zote instead of fels naptha.

Yes you can. You can actually use any bar of soap of choice.
I know of a lady who used castile soap.

She uses two water softeners. Baking soda is partially neutralized washing soda. It’s not an effective water softener. It’s not needed.

First of all 20'mule team borax is for laundry and cleaning, borax (boric acid ) are two different things

Borax is the conjugate base of boric acid. Add lye (sodium hydroxide) to boric acid and you’ll produce water and sodium borate.

Boric acid in a cat’s brain?
If your water is slightly acidic the gas is carbon dioxide from washing soda neutralizing the water.
This isn’t a detergent because it contains none. The only surfactant is bar soap. It’s a laundry soap.
