I also spent many youthful weekends at the roller skating rink where I practiced skating just so I could ask the girls too skate/dance. 70 years ago is about right as I graduated high school in late 1950s. Fun memories, thank you

I am now 77 years old and I grew up with this kind of music and I love it. I still have many of my parents record albums that are the old thick 78 rpm records that are music like this. Thank you for the wonderful memories I have as a young kid and double thank you for playing music like this. It is so enjoyable to listen to and watch you play.
One of my favorite songs to roller skate to at the local roller skating rink in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, when I was a kid. Thanks for the happy memories and the beautiful music.

Ah, but yes it is: a skate rink where angels play. This particular organ has perfect sounding for this joyous song.
Gert and Marjolein, it has been 78 years since I’ve heard this played, and the joy you felt while playing it was as mine those years long passed.
Does this mean, people should never organize organ concerts in their churches, and Gert should only play organ concerts in music halls instead? I think it's pretty boring, because in music halls, Gert for example can't play hymns and psalms as it doesn't fit the type of audience which usually comes to such places. And also, then not so many people will be able to come, due the longer distance they need to travel, than to their local church. I understand why you say it. It sounds like a disrespect towards God. But it's a difference in opinion between people about this. Maybe you could see it this way, that God has invented the music, to let people communicate that way to eachother and sometimes directly to God Himself as well, and when you think, that God is inside his people, that's always a communication to Him as well too. so I don't think it should be forbidden to held concerts in churches. Btw, I was present at that concert in France too, and it was awesome and not to be missed. Saint Vaast, see you next time? 😉

1/ La musique profane.
2/ les applaudissements.
Pour le reste, je n'ai rien contre les musiques sacrées et religieuses dans les églises, Dieu sait si elles sont belles !
J'ai souvenir de l'époque où des concerts spirituels se faisaient dans la paroisse, on commençait par prier et à la fin, on se réunissait dans la salle paroissiale pour féliciter les musiciens et les applaudir, par respect pour l'Hôte Sacré du lieu.
Il est vrai qu'aujourd'hui, on ne croit plus à rien ...
@@fontgombeenberry33 Je comprends ce que tu veux dire. Mais Gert joue de cet orgue avec la permission de l'autorité établie dans cette église. Donc je peux aussi supposer qu'il n'y a rien de mal avec cette musique dans cette église. Profitez et appréciez s'il vous plaît.
@@rypkepaulusma C'est justement bien là où est tout le problème : il y a la permission du clergé ! Et parallèlement, si on veut y faire célébrer une messe en latin, c'est "la croix et la bannière" (c'est le cas de le dire) avec refus catégorique + église fermée !

Hm - schwierig zu verstehendes Stück, gestrickt mit den einfachen Komponenten der mitteleuropäischen Leichtigkeit des 18. Jahrhunderts.
Muss man schon mögen, um es gut zu finden ... na ja, Gert und Marjolein finden es offenbar relativ gut ...
Insgesamt betrachtet und dass muss man bei so einer Schießbudenkomposition anerkennenderweise feststellen, wird es aber virtuos vorgetragen.

Sorry you didn't enjoy this - but it's always been true that you can't please all the people all the time. I hope you enjoy some of the other 'proper' organ music Gert posts....
