Pedro Jose Antunes Hipolito Cavo from Portugal animated this song. According to a commentator from Finland, Swans guide souls to the afterlife. When the Swan took her hand she had passed. The Swan became her ghost, pigtails and all. In Dead Boys Poem, there are also Swans. But there is redemption also. Gotta go cry my eyes out again. Peace.
Nightwish's record label, held a contest for fans to create their own music video for "The Crow, the Owl and the Dove." The first-place winner received a "Golden Ticket” allowing access to any show on the Imaginaerum World Tour, a special award, and a band meet-and-greet. The second and third-place winners received two tickets to a Nightwish concert near them, as well as a copy of the Limited Tour Edition of Imaginaerum. Winning videos were uploaded to the Nuclear Blast and Nightwish UA-cam channels. Winners were selected by members of the band, label, and management, while taking UA-cam "likes" and views into account. The winner was Pedro José Antunes Hipólito Calvo from Portugal. You can find many other entries out on UA-cam. It is Marko and Anette on vocals. Troy was a guest musician in the band when this was recorded. I don’t think he is credited with any vocals, but does play pipes on his one.
HAA"! I was just considering weather or not to cut and paste the Wikipedia entry about this video into the comments here and then I look and you beat me to it!
Metal, rock? Nightwish don''t fit in a box...Nightwish is his own genre, thats the reason I like it so much...al the best to the Nightwish fans @BeSafe
Anette and Marko and Troy on vocals. Troy also had a tin whistle solo. The record label held a contest for fans to create a video for the song. The winner was picked by the band ,management ,and the label.
Anette, so underestimated but so good and she made Nightwish more versatile. This song, Scaretale, Storytime, Eva, Meadows of Heaven, Turn loose the Mermaids, Slow Love Slow, .... Amazing lady, her smooth, sooth, and in some songs a very beautiful jazzy touch ....
One of my favorite Anette songs (w/ Marko)!!! The end of that video punches you in the gut, so sad!!!! Yes the animated video was very well done. Love the acoustic guitar in the song too (by Marko).
This song was inspired by Michael Nyman's piano instrumental song The Heart Asks Pleasure First. So much that Nightwish asked for his permission, it took time, so this song was not on the album Dark Passion Play, but on the next one, Imaginaerum. Nightwish also recorded The Heart Asks Pleasure First with lyrics of their own.
This is One of my favs by Annette such a pretty song love the videos need to do MEADOWS OF HEAVEN BY HER you will love it she's got a pretty voice love her
Great reaction and a beautiful song. Nightwish and Nuclear Blast Records had a contest for fans to create a music video for this song and this video is the one that they chose. Singers are Marko, Annette, and Troy. Song is from the Imaginaerum album about an old composer reliving his life as he lies dying. My understanding of the lyrics is that Tuomas borrowed from Henry David Thoreau's book of poetry Walden where he said "'I don't care about the love, the beauty, the pride or anything, just give me the truth." Tuomas has said " I thought there was a big philosophy behind that, and I started to think I could make a song about it. The crow represents pride, the owl wisdom and the dove love and peace." The video I think really captures the lyrics and their call for innocence and truth (reoccuring themes for Tuomas) over pride, wisdom, love or beauty. In Finnish folklore I believe the swan is the creature that escorts your soul to the afterlife, which helps explain the ending.
Mouseman is correct. Troy was involved in this song. He sang the Cumbrian lyrics part when the child was pulled into the water by her spirit guide. Troy is from the Cumbrian region of Northwestern England. What does Gar tuht river ger te rheged mean? Basically it means "Go to the river, Go to Rheged". Rheged is being used to represent a type of fairy land of regeneration and healing. Tuomas: It`s a secret incantation, an ancient water ritual of regeneration and purification. The mysterious Celtic kingdom of Rheged was one of the kingdoms of the Hen OgledRhegedd ("Old North"), the Brythonic Celtic speaking region of what is now Northern England and southern Scotland in the Early Middle Ages. Rheged initially formed part of Coel Hen's Kingdom of Northern Britain, the northern half of England which had developed from the former Roman military zone.
As you are already on the mellow lane, I recommend another of those songs, also worthy of a lyric breakdown. That song is from their follow-up album "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" with Floor in the lead, called "Our Decades in the Sun". Enjoy.
There is a version of our decades in the sun on youtube that uses animation from the film brave that is outstanding,it brings a tear to my eye when I watch it. LoL ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
NW is unlike any band I've ever heard, their songs hit a place in me that not many songs ever have.....my favorite NW song is the last one I listened too.
This one always gets me a bit teary🥲, such a beautiful song. It has something in common with the people in my life (video+song) Anette is perfect in this..
One of Anette Olzon's better studio recordings with nightwish considering she had recently suffered a broken rib before recording her tracks for the Imaginarium album upon which this song was featured. Since other comentor's have taken to cutting and pasting from published material, I'm going to jump on that wagon here to provide greater details from time to time. Some fun trivia about the recording of the album: Anette Olzon's vocal recordings were originally planned for 7 March 2011 but plans changed when she fell in her home a few days before and broke her rib, and the date was changed to early April. Male vocalist (and bassist) Marko Hietala was instead called in to record his parts early, so to not waste the booked studio time, but before being able to start recording, Hietala as well slipped and hurt his rib, and had to hold several days before starting the recording. At the same time, recording engineer Mikko Karmila was home sick, and the day after Hietala had slipped, the other recording engineer Tero Kinnunen was run over by a horse and cart. Holopainen (Toumas) would later refer to this as "the Curse of the Mummy".
There are a few fan made videos for the newer Nightwish songs including the one used on the second disc on the Human nature album which all got the Nightwish tick of approval and believe me is so cool. Nightwish truly gets engraved into the hearts and souls of it's fans and many are willing to do what it takes for this band. The advantage you guys get learning more about these European bands and this style of music as you could learn a few things you could add to your already unique style of music and add a different flare since many bands from outside of America doesn't get Air play. sadly even though there are many great musicians and artists in the U.S. many of the music on the station being played are very repetitive and become mundane. You can blame those at the top of the industry for that as they have a very narrow viewpoint and can't get past the same old crud.
This album Imaginaerum is amazing. I think you have done most of the songs, still to do Taikatalvi, a short opening song of the album sung by Marko in Finnish, then Arabesque. you should check out that one too live performance in Helsinki 2012
Anette was never my favorite or close, but no denying the woman's talent, Tarja either, both in a world of mere mortals, very impressive. Both Tarja and Anette are Nightwish's past and that if for no other deserve respect. I won't even name the last and my favorite singer, but this is me showing great respect to both ladies, who in their time, propelled and made Tuomas' lyrics start and continue to where we are now.
And then and there, out of the mind of this seasoned mouse wrangler, was the entertainment innovation of the century born: _The Tattooed Belly Ballet._ Somebody better make this happen in a hurry. Please.

I guess you already know that the svan is the one that takes brings you to the other side in old finnish mythology. The dove is of course the one that brings you peace and the crow is one of the shaman birds. The birds where very powerfull because they could move between the two dimensions between lifew and death. The owl was not only the wise soul but also the mother. A very old story tells... The hunter went to the forest and meet mother owl. Dear hunter, where are you going? Im going to hunt some food. Please dear hunter spare my children. As you are the wisest soul in the forest I will save your children. How do they look like? Oh, dear hunter, they are te most beautiful birds in the forest. OK, mama Owl, I will spare your children. The huinter meet a lot of beautiful birds witch he will not shoot. Then suddenly he see two ugly trolls on a bransh and shoots them because they can not be the children of the owl. When the hunter leaves the forest he meets mama owl and she is crying. What is the problem the hunter asks and mama owl says you have just shoot my children. The hunter responds, I was walking for a long time and I did see a lot of beautiful birds who I spared and then I shot the two ugliest kreatures I could see . Oh, dear hunter, don`t you know every mother thinks her children are the most beautiful. This little girl is the most beautiful child for her parents even if she is not "perfect" she is going to die.
Sorry guys, that was nit Floor, that was Anette and this is one of the songs that Floor can not hold a candle to her in. Her voice added the softness that this song requires
Interesting. Disappointed in the lyrics, half the song just repeats the same stanza. Way to poppy and teen angst for me. Sorry Nightwish army. Stay safe, God Bless, and keep rocking.
@@frank1963 Yes, they were really good. I never listen much to the Anette era songs; sad to say, the more I hear the less interested I am in hearing more. It is not hall because of her poppy style, but it seems Tuomas tried to go too mainstream poppy for me.

The fan who made this video really gets the point of this song. Anette and Marco did the singing there and naturally Tuomas, Emppu, Jukka there too.
