- I recorded a second video showing you how to iron Hama beads (or perler beads depending on where you live) correctly as the first craft video I made is quite old and was recorded in portrait mode so you can't see very well. The link that that video is here: • How to iron Hama beads...
Pixel / Hama / Perler bead projects do not need to be ironed on both sides. I find that if you only iron one side (but do it well), then you get a nice front side that looks really cool - much better than melted plastic blobs on both sides of your pixel art project.
To iron your Harma or Perler bead project, you will need:
Hama bead project ready on the peg board.
Hama ironing paper (or greaseproof baking paper).
Ironing board (or suitable ironing surface)
Iron (do not use the steam function, start on the setting in the middle then increase if required).
You can find more Hama bead projects on my craft blog at www.emmaline.co.uk or let me know what you'd like me to cover in the comments below.

I'm glad to read I'm not the only one who got totally obsessed with beads lol. Thank you for the video ^^
🥰
Thank you for showing me how to iron the beads correctly.😊😊
No probs, glad you got something out of it 👍🏽
Thanks for the help! I've been obsessed with making these bead arts! (That's what I call it anyway)
Hannah Sanihin addictive, isn’t it!
Thank you so much for this. I could swear I did everything right before and it didn’t stick. My first project finished with a success after 4 tries.
Happy to help 😊
Poxa muito obrigado, hello from Brazil!
Hi!
yay thank you! this was very helpful and you said more info that other videos on the same topic
Glad you found it useful!
Thank goodness I watched this first 💖
Is it bad that I bought these for my kid and I'm a bit obsessed with them?
ConstanceMarkiewicz not at all - I have them sorted by colour into specially bought boxes...🤦🏼♀️
This is Art, and Art is for ANY age!! 😊
Thank you this has been really helpful
You’re very welcome 😊
Thank you so much you have helped me really well
Glad it helped!
Thankyou!!
Thank you!
I'm surprised they don't have wooden boards so the boards can't melt
Or metal
Thanks for the tips just starded with Hama beads I making a David Bowie for my friend .
Sounds cool, hope it all goes well!
Can we use baking paper?😅
Thanks this really help me alot
JustPineapple I’m glad you found it useful! 😊
Emm McAndrew 🤗
Somehow I always manage to melt the base with while ironing.. any tips for that matter?
You might be pressing down to hard, or holding the iron in one spot for too long 👍🏽
Found this helpful, but the baking paper i ordered is brown, not so easy to see through, and i think iron was too hot, still came out ok, pleased with my first attempt.
I’ve used the brown paper before and got a decent result too. Glad you found it helpful!
Perfect, thanks!
Andrew Deacon glad it helped! 😊
I've always heard ironing over the pegboard will warp the pegboard itself.
ruinawish hi, you iron over the paper, not directly on the peg board. The peg board will only warp if you use too much pressure and heat - keep moving the iron around :)
thanks
Your design it's 2,5 mm or 5mm?
Do I need to put water in the iron?
Can I use baking tray?
Check the instructions of your iron. They are all different. My video is more about technique.
Perfect 👌
Tony Eden thanks for the feedback 😊
Emm McAndrew ......I followed the instructions to the letter but they still stuck to the board......... but no problem just peeled it off......all good 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ps.....we got the same iron 😊
I feel like all stuff I've see is melted both sides. I guess baking paper to protect the board after flipping and otherwise the same process., I think it will hold together better. But I guess it is a matter of taste if you like the melted side, then it is double sided ofc.
Exactly. I don’t like the melted look so I only iron one side.
did the storm trooper coaster melt when your friend put a hot coffee on it?
after I iron it it is half wobbly and half a little bit hard and it would fall apart and break.
You can iron the back for stability depending on the design you made.
@@hollyandersonsmusic3226 thanks i will try it
How hot should the iron be?
Check the instructions of your iron. They are all different so best to try setting 2 first.
Check the instructions of your iron. They are all different. I think I used 2.
I have noticed that once done, in long run Hama beads keep falling apart and the design breaks. Is there anything else that can be done like a coating to keep the beads intact.
Hiya, I don’t do anything extra to them and they last a few years with gentle care.
Temperature of iron?
Check the instructions of your iron. They are all different. I think I used 2.
Is there a right and wrong side to this as i prefer the side that doesnt show the holes?
Alison Keatings if you iron one side, it will show the holes on the reverse. But you can iron both sides of you want, then there’d be no holes showing at all 😊
Ah great ive only just started this im hooked already 😊
Alison Keatings it won’t be long before you’ll be sorting them into little boxes by colour...it’s a slippery slope! 😊
As a Dad, I resemble that comment!
Glad I don't offend everyone with my one-liners Patrick Mooney :)
What temperature do you use?
Tiara Haynes-Kelly hiya, I use 2 or 3 depending on the iron. If it’s your first go at it, I’d say go low and you’ll know if the beads aren’t fusing so you can increase the temp until they start to fuse (you’ll see them start to blob out).
@@EmmMcAndrew in celcius, what temperature is that ?
@ariel, I have no idea, sorry! They’re just dots on my iron
The board that you use for it where do you get it at or was it called
Hiya, it’s called a Hama bead peg board 👌🏼
Grease proof paper yeah?
Yes Danina :)
I just keep melting the board =/
Hiya, try to keep the iron moving around: if you stay too long in one place, it can melt it. You could also try turning the heat down a little? 😊
@@EmmMcAndrew ok thank you I've been on the works of a 3d version of the enemy in Mario that is in the pipe that plant just waiting on some glue to put it toghether
why is mine wobbly
Hiya, the reverse side may look wobbly, is that what you mean? Or do you mean beads in the middle or edges are bobby?
I have a steam iron so what do I do?
Turn the steam down :)
No setting for this? Use the steam!
Emm McAndrew thanks 😀
I done this and I melted the board LOL
Whoops!
where i can find the grease proof paper??
jorge morsahermosa hiya, it's just baking paper. You can find in the baking aisle at the supermarket. Where are you from? In the uk you can also get it in pound shops :)
i already got it, but thanks :D
