My household budget has separate line items for both “Wine” and “Literature”… yes, you have to budget it at that level, I have to manage it at that level.
My goal for 2025 is to introduce my husband to this wonderful phenomenon known as “the Library”.
We love our local library!! Having a “wine” budget might do more harm than good in this house 😂😂
We only buy books if there’s something we’re going to read more than once :)
Family Entertainment category is so important for bringing joy - we have one called "Littler Adventures" and would cover admissions to events or locations as well as treats like ice cream. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! And a caution about the PS5. If you’ve played you know It gets really hot so if you put it in a cabinet make sure it still gets plenty of airflow.
For sure!! It’ll have lots of air flow around and only turned on with cabinet doors open-I will make sure to cut the back out if whatever we end up has one as well. We had a similar set up with my PS4 we had to make work to strike the balance of Shea thinking it is ugly and me needing it to not burn out the fan 😂

You guys just convinced me to re-add an entertainment category to the "from scratch" budget. I couldn't think of any reason I'd need it, after using it as a category to pull from the last few months.
Now I have reasons. :)
We usually put everything in “date night” but we have been so much more intentional with it lately so we needed a catch all for little house things :)
Do you enter the Broadway ticket lotteries? I saw Sunset Blvd in your tickets category and I know there's a lottery for it. I won tickets for it last week!
We are Not good at remembering to enter the lotteries!! We absolutely need to be better at it, especially now that we are into January and the tourist traffic has slowed down!

I thought of you guys when reading about surge pricing for NYC transit. Will that affect your transportation category?
It will not, as we don’t do any driving (or ride share) in manhattan! It won’t change the train prices-though those are likely going up soon too
