Amazing question-and-answer session with the All Blacks. Until I visited Belfast in 2004, I would have been as oblivious as the ruggers were. Mr. Rees explained the history quite succinctly.

I love this channel. Growing up in an Anglo-Irish family in the 70s and 80s I grew up with the backdrop of the troubles affecting my family.
This is particularly interesting as my folks moved to Leeds whilst I was still in my first year at primary school and Rees was our MP,. I remember him being at community events etc.

@@anthonywalsh7613 apparently he and Harold Wilson drafted a plan soon after this to hand NI back to the ROI but it was nixed by the Republic govt because they couldn't afford the turmoil that would ensue.

I’m reading a book at the moment.
In it, it states that once the Wilson government was elected, they opened the doors to nationalists to be able to enrol in certain further education institutions

Watching this as the years advance,you cant help but see Rees as someone who hoped for progress back then.who actually seemed genuine.the younger self wouldve been much more cynical. Watching them in the car driving along cheerful, thru dangerous times ...poignant.
