I left dundalk md on my 42 Sonic and ran up the bay into the canal and out into the deleware. Spent about an hour and turned around and went back home. We averaged about 35 to 40 mph. Did it in one day with time to spare. The canal was very cool to experience. I took my 75 year old father who grew up in stoney Creek in pasadena. Kinda a bucket list thing. Great memories! I sold the boat a few weeks later.
We brought my uncle’s 42 foot trawler from Tolchester Maryland to LBI about 30 years ago. Great memories. Just a reverse of your trip. Would love to take a ride on a “Chesapeake Deadrise” sometime.

Haha... the DE Bay is different from the Chesapeake Bay... because it does not exist. That is the DE RIVER.... and hitting the C&D at the wrong tidal direction... ouch, but looks like a good run, congrats.
When people ask how many hours are on the engine, you just tell them "Just over 2 years"...Reminds me of my wife saying our son is 24 months old....na 2 years :p (18,000 hours / 24 hours = 750 days / 365 = 2.05 Years.)
Use to have a 65ft 130tonne scallop trawler with a 300hp boudwin,(French P,O,S) the sounder was an elac sounded like a lepricorn in the bilge with a hammer it only fired every second and it used a carbon role to print the depth worked good but took up the size of a microwave oven in the wheelhouse and the vessels draft was 10ft L Ship

Permission to come aboard captain hi I'm captain Daniel Fitzhugh down here in South Florida we are boat Builders we are fishermen our last boat was 56 ft trawler running two 135 Perkins 3-2-1 reduction 2000 gallon fuel capacity 700 gallon water Upper Deck 18 ft skiff and an 18 ft sailboat the cabin roof axis of water catcher also why people come out to see you well we work and then beat ourselves up building the boat is the way we've done it since I was 12 years old actually started out tearing down my dad's charter boat engine when I was about 9 years old ran out of North Key Largo Ocean Reef Club running charters how to Purdue Dean tackle shop on our little charter boat the Hop grasser well when I was little instead of saying grasshopper I said hop grasser there's where the name of our charter boat came from people came from everywhere to see us build our boats one thing that we hated was the fact that helicopters would fly over to look at our 46 ft catch sailboat built her upside down plywood fiberglass plywood fiberglass ribs made of mahogany and fur you talk about a beautiful boat everybody claim that it came out of a mole all of that standing micro Bubbles and polyester resin to smooth out the rough spots and more sanding than you whatever imagine I came in every night covered with fiberglass from head to toe well if you don't know the key to getting glass off of you get in the shower and run it as hot as you can I mean you just about melt yourself do not do not touch yourself do not try to wash during this process when you can't stand the heat anymore turn it down until it gets cold enough that you're shivering then start washing yourself this will allow the fiberglass to be flushed from your pores close and then you can wash the fiberglass off I wish we could talk in person don't care where you fish at on what ocean we're all one big family and if you struggled on a commercial boat if you had to bust your ass for every penny that you made you know what I'm talking about the cash is there just that next boat we never trusted boats already built we had to build them ourselves stubborn ass people we're going to have it our way and that's the right way it might not be the easy way we trust our hull
