- Beauveria bassiana is a mycoinsecticide that will grow and develop in your soil and kill pests over a long period of time. As it continues to build and strengthen its own mycelial network, it will become stronger and more effective at targeting the pests in your soil. All without harming your plants!
I really love using this because it grows and gets stronger all on its own. You can top dress your pots with it or mix it into your soil but I prefer to mix mine with water in a squirt bottle and apply it to all of my pots.

Been wondering if I can use this to kill fungus gnats or not .
John, I've been researching Beauveria Bassiana for weeks now and all of the commercial products other than this one indicate that the strain of fungus does not stay in the soil and strengthen over time. However, those strains are slightly different than Build A Soil offers which leads me to ask. How do you know that it is in fact staying in the soil and gaining strength? Also, does it move systemically through the plant to infect a pest that is feeding on the growth tip?
Hey, thanks for sharing this info! I’m basing my claim on three things:
1) My communication with the people at build a soil, which told me the fungus would continue to gain traction in the soil over time
2) Physical evidence of a mycelial network in my pots many months later, which I had never seen prior to using the product
3) A steady decline in fungus gnat populations and little to no evidence of fungus gnats for many months following treatment
I hope I am not spreading misinformation but even now, I have hardly noticed any gnats and I probably haven’t applied anything in at least 6 weeks. If you are correct, then perhaps a seasonal application would be enough to ensure a thorough control? I’d love to hear what you’re thinking about all this and thanks again for digging deeper.
Also, to my knowledge it will only grow in the soil and does not provide any systemic protection whatsoever
@@JohnDennery i am very interested in this topic. to my knowledge the aggression of B.B. toward fungus gnats is not documented ...although there potentially could be a strain that has this affinity...I guess at the end of the day ill have to call build a soil

I don’t really know but I think it’s mostly just effective against fungus gnat larvae. You might ask the people at build a soil, they are knowledgeable and helpful

I really like this stuff. It seems like there are far fewer gnats a week later after the first treatment of the year. Gonna apply some more this weekend and hopefully that's the end of it for now!

B Bassiana doesn't control fungus gnats. Works great on root aphids. I've spent some time researching this. For fungus gnats, nematodes or bti
I have tons of b bassiana at my commercial grow, I would love to be wrong so I can use it on the fungus gnat problem I'm having. It's not listed on any of the b bassiana labels as treatment for f gnats
Have you tried it ? Just Bc it’s not listed on the label doesn’t mean it doesn’t work
@vysrom4440 Hi! im having a nightmare with fungus gnats plus whiteflies, seems like i have killed ALL the white fllies and 70% of fungus gnats population using yellow stick trap, diatomaceous earth, neem oil on ALL leaves... Yesterday i bought b bassiana, BTI and Thicoderme, can i use ALL of this on seedlings?? Im with 72 seedlings with less than 1 week while still have my adult plants in another room, i mean, high risk for the seedlings Room get infested too, im thinking to give for their first watering BTI+Thicoderme, to Prevent fungus gnats From my infested plants room, the Thricoderma is for strenght and Prevent fusarium, can u help me with some ideias?? @@bakerrr333 yeah. It's expensive af and doesn't eradicate the problem. I'm in charge of 2 facilities with tier 3 plant count, so close to 10000 plants indoor. Not being a smart ass, but bti and feltiae nematodes are cheap af and work. Use the every other watering. B bassiana, killing some of the population, would work for a tent grower I suppose
@DJSerpents mix the bti and nems together btw....use dechlorinated water. The bti is spores, some chlorine and chloramine will cause less germination
