Thanks for your comment! I hope that I didn't make my video sound cruel about opinions. But some people just seem to be judgemental on things that I do or say at times. But it's all good! I am very happy! Thank you for watching the video! I really enjoy having you for a subscriber! Thanks buddy!
I forgot to mention that the "bubble top" variation doesn't look near as good as your Impala with the simulated convertible 'crease' just above the back window. There were 4 roof-lines as I remember: The bubble top - the 2 and 4 door sedan - the convertible - and your style. Yours is best.
My dad and I had a 62 SS, stick shift, black with a red interior, I absolutely loved that car. We fell on hard times and had to sell it. That car will always hold a special place in my heart, what a great machine.
I am so sorry that you had to sell that beautiful car! I know that a lot of good memories were made with the car! I have had to sell some cars and things as well during my life. I think about what I have had to sell and it makes me really sad. But sometimes you have to do what you gotta do to make ends meet. I like to think of it as being a man. Thank you very much my friend for sharing your story! It touched me and makes me remember my life as well! Thanks!
Thanks for the info! After I started the video, I kinda went blank! Lol. That seems to happen to me more often than not! Lol. I really appreciate your comment! Thanks buddy!
2 door hardtop like yours are called "Sport Coupes" Some came with the antena on the right front fender and some on the right rear fender. Mine had it on the rear and I added the optional left rear fender antena to give it a more balanced look. Mine was Silver Poly Blue with blue interior and white molding inscripts. 283 powerglide. I now have a red 1964 SS 327/300 hp. 4 speed numbers matching car with white and red interior
I bet that did look nice with those SS Cragars on it! Those cars sure do ride smooth. Mine is not fast just a cruiser car. I really love the old car! So many memories of the car and the people who owned it. It's a one family owned car. Thank you for sharing your story! I truly enjoyed it! Thank you very much!
Thanks for showing some of the details that differentiated the various 62 Chevys. My dad ordered a new 62 SS the minute they were released. The earliest deliveries did not have the swirl in the rear facia. They were just like the one you showed here. A friend of the family bought one a month or so later and, yes it had the swirl design. I drove that car for years.
I'm a Ford man but I have always loved the old GM as well as the old everything else. I remember the 62 Impala because my aunt had 1 when I was a kid. I always loved that model year and yours is a sweet-looking vehicle. I never knew the differences between standard Impala and the SS. I got to say the 58 is one of my favorites too. Maybe the 61 also. But I'll take any one of them from 58 to 66. Again nice ride and thanks for the video.
Hello Mr. Myers! Thank you for sharing your story with me! I love all old cars and trucks! They all have a story to tell. I hope that your Aunt enjoyed her 62 Chevy! I am like you just enjoying all old cars and trucks. Thank you very much for your comment! I really enjoyed reading it! Thanks!
my dad bought us a 1962 impala the day before i was born and we’ve been working on it ever since. We’ve worked really hard on it but it’s not yet there yet. I’m trying to learn more for what i need to know about the car so i can get it in tip top shape
Congratulations on your Dad buying a 62 Chevy! They are really cool cars! I just recently sold mine after owning it 38 years! Send me a video of your car to Primeredisbest@comcast.net. Or my Instagram Messenger: Primered is best. Or Facebook Messenger Primered is Best. I look forward to seeing it! Just make the video no more than 3 minutes long. I can post it on my UA-cam channel: Primered is best. Thank you very much!
I bought a 4 door 1962 Chevy Impala when I graduated from high school in 1967. It was white with red interior and in beautiful condition. It was my very 1st car and car loan. My Dad co-signed the loan.
I am hoping that you still have it! That is a great color combo! It is funny how you remember your first car or truck and girlfriend. It was nice that your Dad helped you get your credit started by co-signing for you! My Dad done the same thing for me as well! Thank you for sharing your story with me! I really enjoyed reading it and remembering things that you said that also happened to me! Thanks very much!
Great video, I learned there's only 1 way to "almost" know for sure if the car is a real SS, but you have to lift the carpet. Other than that, the single hardest piece to locate for 62 SS is the center console!
@@Olds_Gold ,my family had one 1962 Belair. I remember it had a 2 speed trany. Dad ran that car pretty hard way back in the day I was about 10 years old.i love 62 's
Just got a 62 impala SS. This was very helpful as I want to make the exterior and interior as original as possible. Motor has already been changed out. I need a lot of interior parts and also some exterior molding
You have a Beautiful Impala . I always loved the ‘62 . I own a ‘66 Corsa that I love with the 4 carbs ! Of all the chevy’s that I’ve seen in my 67 years the 1962’s come in at #1 . Thank you for a great video !
Thank you so much Mr. Puff! I really appreciate it! My friend that I worked with for many years had a Corvair Spyder. He said that he would run Corvette's red light to red light and would beat them! So that was pretty impressive to me! But I have rode in a lot of Corsa's back in the day. My friend loved them and had bought several of them. Thank you for your kind words and for the fond memories of my youth! I really appreciate it! Thanks!
When I was a kid, my mom had a 62' wagon. It was black with red accents in the chrome side pieces and a red, I want to say leather, interior. I have search my mind and I cannot find a memory of it being otherwise. Anyway, my dad had put a 283 Vette' motor in it and it had dual exhaust with Thrush glass-pack mufflers. Not a very discreet sounding car. This was my mother's grocery getter and her daily driver. She also substituted as a teacher and would drive it to school. The guys in high always were wanting to buy the car. She had a 57' Belair wagon that was set up pretty much the same way prior to the 62'.
Now that's a good story! Thank you very much for sharing this with me! Sounds like that you had the coolest Dad and Mom in town! I had a 62 Belair wagon. Sounds like your Mom had a Impala with the red accents that you mentioned. That's awesome! And a 57 Chevy wagon too! You are so blessed to have such cool parents instead of the boring cars that most parents were driving! Thanks for your story and please comment anytime! Thanks!
Some very early 62 Super Ports came with the regular Impala rear trim instead of the swirled SS trim. The supplier had issues. The dealer would swap over to the swirled trim if you brought the car back after it was in stock. I'm sure there are a few Super Sports out there with the standard rear trim.
Yes, my Deuce drop is original and did not have bezzled rear trim, nor the rear antennae. *but, I may have to grab that glove box cover from a ‘61.. oh, also I believe it should have two tone steering wheel.
Thank you very much for the kind words! I don't think I have ever seen an Impala that I didn't think was beautiful! My Aunt had a 1969 Chevy Impala that I wanted do bad. Had a 350/350 in it and it ran very good! It was a 2 door dark green with black vinyl top. I know that they are very similar to the 1970 Impala's. I love body style of them. I finally got a 1969 Chevy Impala and had it for a week and someone wanted it worse than me, so I sold it. Now I wish I had it back. But I have made a lot of dumb moves in my life! Lol. Thank you for watching the video! I really appreciate it! Comment on my videos anytime! Thanks!
I have a 62 impala 4dr 283 power glide. Similar history as yours was bought brand new and handed down. Still original with 109k miles. Sometimes i think of selling, other time i think of restoration with safety add ons. Just don’t know what to do.... your video is encouraging me to get someone to restore. Thanks. Would like to hear your thoughts.
Well Mr. Ross it sounds like you and I are a lot alike! If your 62 runs and drives good then I would just drive it like it is and enjoy it. As you know 62 Chevy's are very popular and yours would be easy to sell. I am into "Patina Style". Mine will never be a "fully restored" car as long as I have it. I get more people look at "Patina Style" cars and trucks before they look at "fully restored" cars and trucks. I think it is because that someone can still picture in their heads what it can look like fully restored. I don't know if what I have said makes any sense. But I would keep it and guard it from being stolen. Thank you very much for your comment! I enjoyed reading it and I hope to hear from you again soon! Us 62 Chevy guys have to stick together!
Great Video!! My Dad Used To Own A 63 Impala SS it Was Royal Blue with Cragar SS Wheels He Had The Originals But Switched Them!!Loved That Car I Wish He Kept it, But When Times Got Tough He Had To Make The Tough decision And Had To Sell it!!
I bet that your Dad's car was beautiful! I would say that you had a lot of good memories with that car! That's the same with me on this car. I have had to do the same thing as your Dad and had to sell some things. But somehow I always kept this car. I will do a video on it this week. I will try to explain and talk about car on detail. Thank you very much for sharing your story! I greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
This guy knows these old Chevies! My best friend Jimmy had a 63 convertible in 69, we had great times in that car! I bought a 63 in 1979 for $200, put a water pump on it, drove it for two years, sold it for $200. Those old Chevies were great, comfortable, easy to work on, affordable.
Hello Mr. Fannon! It sounds like you have a thing for 63 Chevy's! Lol. They are good cars! You described them exactly comfortable and easy to work on. I always wanted a 63 but never got one. But I sure do love them! Now the prices are very high if you can find one that's in good shape. Thank you very much for your comment! I really enjoyed reading it! Thanks buddy!
Hey Loved the Explanations on the "62" have always checked out 62 Videos as.... wait for it .. A 62 Chevy Impala Convertible was my First Car... and drove it in High School way back in 71 & 72 then went into the Navy.... traded it in on a 65 Corvair as I "THOUGHT" I needed a newer Car to drive ..... regretted very soon after that... & Still Miss it... it was White over Red... so another Sad Story...
Well that 62 Chevy Impala Convertible with that color combo must have been beautiful! But I love Corvairs too! Rode in many of them. I also thought that they didn't get a fair shake in the press. Thanks to Ralph Nader. It's not a sad story for you sir! It's a happy story! You were blessed to have had a 62 Convertible and a 65 Corvair! Now how many people can say that! I want to thank you for sharing your story with me! I really enjoyed it very much! Thanks for putting a smile on my face!
My dad bought a 62 Corvair brand new. The family (mom, dad, me (13 years old), and my sister (16 years old)) went on a trip from Virginia to Texas and back with our luggage. (It was too small and not enough power!) When we got home, dad traded it in on a brand new Impala SS (327, white outside, red interior with bucket seats). Learned to drive in that car. First date in it. LOVED that car!! Next to the 1967 Buick Riviera, most beautiful car in the world!! To me at least!
Very nice I've had my 62 impala for over 30 years now I've taking it apart and it's on a rotisserie, I'm very excited to finish it ,probably a couple more year to complete,,It's not cheap to restore
Oh no sir they are not cheap to build for sure! Sounds like it will be a great car when you are done with it! Something to be proud of! Good luck with the build!
my dad bought a 1962 Impala 2 door hardtop new in 62, it was only one I have seen with the yellow interior, it was white on outside, 327 250 HP 3 speed on column he sold it in 1963 wish I had that car today.
I wish that you still had it too! That wS was a great color combo! My I cleaned had a 62 Impala Convertible with what I call butternut yellow with the same color on the insides! It was Beautiful! I am glad that you made a comment on my video! It brought back a lot of memories for me! Thank you so much for your comment my friend! Hope you will subscribe if you have not already! God bless you!
My grandpa just sent me his 62 impala. I'm excited. It needs to work but when I'm done and get it all waxed and what not I can't wait to drive it around on a nice summer day.
I had a nice 62 Impala in the early 1990's. It was a 4 door hardtop without the pillars. It had so many options. The grille guard, electric windows, air conditioner, dual am antennas on the rear quarter panels, 409 turbo fire engine, all original. It was so beautiful and I miss it so much. I had to get rid of it in a hurry and not to go into a very long hurtful story, the cop who towed it to the impound contacted me and asked what I wanted to do with it. I told him I had no money to get it out or repair the damage, so I gave it to him. He said it was for his 7 year old daughter, who now cruises it in Deer Park Long Island all these years later.
That story makes me so very sad for you! I could just about cry! But I guess it is good to know that the car is still around and driving. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I will never forget it. Good luck to you my friend!
@@brooklyncarmelena5755 If it is still rolling, then you have saved it from the crusher. Or that is the way that I look at things like this. And you still have a chance to get it back someday too. I would let the owners know how you feel about it. Things change. Sometimes it's in your favor. Thank you very much for your comment.
I really like your car brother. Beautiful ride. We had a 62 Impala Station Wagon. First car we ever had with AC. It became my mom’s car to drive my soon to be born sister and I to school and other things. Grocery store etc.
Thank you! It's kinda funny how cars and trucks bring back memories of friends and family! I love 62 Chevys! I am glad that a good memory came back to you my friend! God bless you and your family always!
I'm curious...which model had no tail light panel? I've seen a molding set for sale that is simply a bar that connects all the tail lights in a straight line.
Always liked the 62,when I moved down to Florida from New York as an 18 year old left my Chevelle in NY needed a car for work and found a 62 Impala, black over red from North Carolina was a 327 but had a 283, coming from NY I was amazed how solid it was but sadly my father nixed that deal and I wound up with a 69 Volkswagen Bug the only foreign car I've ever owned, man I would love to have that Impala now, and in my opinion the regular trim is much cleaner than the engine turned SS trim!
Man, I am so sorry that that deal fell through! That color combo would have been beautiful too! I wish that you still had the 62. The VW was a nice car and I am sure that your Dad had your best interests in mind. But the 62 would've been the one to keep in my opinion. Thank you very much for sharing your story! I enjoyed reading it and hope to hear from you soon! Thank you, buddy!
Man oh man y'all have some really nice rides! I personally like all of them! But I have never had anything other than 62's. I wish I could have owned a 61, 63, and 64. But it hasn't happened yet! Thank you very much for sharing your story with me! I appreciate it! Thanks buddy!
That is some nice to know information. I appreciate it. I had a 62 Impala convertible In 1971 when I lived in Miami. I really wish I still had that car.
Hello Mr. Lowe! Thank you for your comment! I had a chance to buy a 62 Chevy convertible years ago. I didn't buy it because of lack of funds. It was a basket case. But I have regretted that ever since. I should have but with bills and kids I just had to pass. I guess you know what I mean. It's funny that you run across the best deals when you have no money! Lol. I wish you still had your convertible too! I guess hindsight is 20/20. Thank you very much for sharing your story with me! And thank you very much for your comment! I really appreciate it!
@@primeredisbest You're welcome. I had to move out of Florida so that is why I sold it. I only took A u haul truck and all my furniture. I sure did like that car though it was white with a white convertible top and red interior.

On boy. Brought back memories. I had a '62 Wagon, white, red interior. Four barrel 327 and Power Slide. Great car, went like hell. Moved me and all my stuff from San Diego to Washington State.
Hello Mr. Pearson! I am so glad that the old 62 brought back some memories for you! My old cars and trucks that I have always bring back memories for me as well! I always enjoy hearing others talk about their old cars and trucks! Good memories in all of them! Thank you very much for watching the video! I greatly appreciate it!
@@primeredisbest One thing I could never figure out is why oh why Chevy completely redesigned Powerglide with an aluminum case in 1962, but still didn't add second gear.

Chevy Super Sports were trim options up until about 65, there are several examples out there a straight 6 with factory SS emblems. That all changed after the GTO.
@@mrBILL-sr2cu that's good to know. The SS chevelle first year with a standard big block was 66, though a few Z16 65s are out there but very rare. Too many people associate SS as a performance package when it was initially a trim package.
I remember being sick for a 62 that was for sale until the owner sold the 327 engine and swapped in a 283 and crumpled the right rear quarter and still was asking a big price .
That's crazy! Lol. I would have kept the 327 for sure! Some folks are kinda high on their prices on these old cars and trucks! Thanks buddy for your comment and for watching the video! Have a blessed day today my friend!

Thank you very much Mr. Pestacchi for your comment! I have always loved 62 Chevy's! It was a good year for Chevrolet! Thank you very much for watching my video! It means so much to me! Thanks!
I had one of these back in the day, in 1968 it backfired , caught fire in the carburetor and went up in flames, totaled! It broke my heart. I had just returned from Nam the preceding year. I've driven an Impala ever since with a 2008 sitting in the driveway right now. There are 176,000 original miles on it. It's a question now if the car will outlast me or I will outlast it. Cheers.........
Thank you so much for sharing your story with me! And Thank You for your service in Nam! I really appreciate it! I have always loved the Chevy Impala's. They are good cars! My whole family were basically Chevy folks anyway. So it comes natural for me to prefer Chevy's. I will be doing more videos of this 62 Chevy this week. Please stay tuned as I believe that you will enjoy the story about my 62 Chevy! Thank you so much my friend! Please comment anytime! Thanks!
I have a true 62 SS Impala. It has the factory holes for the grab bar. The only problem is that I don't have a grab bar or the SS panel that goes on the dash. Wondering if you would sell yours. Can you send me info on what you have for SS parts? I'm trying to put mine back together. Thanks, Joe
Hello Joe! I wish I could help you with the parts that you need. But unfortunately I have already sold those parts that you seen. I am so sorry buddy! Thank you very much for your comment! Good luck!
Biggest difference for me was the bucket seats! I customized my first car ('62 SS) by painting Testors PLA model paint (bright RED!) on the inside of the two rear upper interior lights. They would glow red at night when you opened the door.
I subscribed after watching your video. I had a blue 62. 2 door post. A white over sea foam green 2 door 62 impala. A black 2 door 62 impala. And a gold anniversary 62 ss impala.
First of all I want to say, "Thank You very much!" for Subscribing to my channel! Especially a person who has several 1962 Chevy's! I have had around 13 Chevy's of the same year of 62. Biggest part of them were parts cars. I did have a friend who had a white with sea form green inserts. It was a beautiful car! He had it for a good while and sold it. I always wanted to buy it. But he had sold it before I had a chance to. You are like me my friend and have been blessed to have had several 1962 Chevy's! I have always loved that body style! I will be bringing my 62 Impala home this week from having a few things done to it. Please stay tuned to see it. I am so glad to have you as a subscriber! Thanks buddy!
Thank you! I really like the 61-62 Chevy's! Beautiful cars and they were built very well! I truly appreciate your comment my friend! Have a blessed day today!

Thank you for the video. I need to ask you about your wheel/tire sizes,,,they look great. I'm trying to figure out where to go with my '62 droptop. I could use some things for sure if you're selling trim and stuff.
I wish that I could tell you more about the wheels and tires but I bought them used. They came off of a 1960 Chevy wagon. I didn't know the guy that I bought them from. I just bought them because I knew that they wouldn't rub and they were well taken care of. Sorry I am not much help. But if I was you, I would call Ronnie Tyler in Madisonville, Tennessee. Like someone below said the EARLY ‘62 SS’s had the satin aluminum rear trunk panels and are correct. I know because I have one and contacted the Late Great Chevy club in the early 1980’s to inquire about it. They said Chevrolet hadn’t quite tooled up yet in making the traditional SS swirl panels and that my 1962 Impala SS was an EARLY car and correct. A commentor below said they noticed the change after the first month. Probably very few cars made -or surviving like this.
My first car (in 1978) was a red 1958 impala convertible with red interior. 348 four barrel and a power glide trans. I loved it but the floors were gone and after “working” on it some I realized it was too much for my skills and tools. Sure wish I had it now, I’d be able to fix it, ☹️. I replaced it with a 1967 Chevelle though so that was cool. 🙂 nice car, enjoyed the video. I guess if all options were available in any combination the only thing that makes it an SS is the trim? Are there any clues on the trim tag or the VIN that it was built as an SS?
Hello and thank you for sharing your story with me! Yes there is a way to tell on the Chevelle's Vin number. If it had a 136 it is a Malibu. If it has a 138 it's a an SS model. That 1958 sounds like a Dream Car! I would LOVE to have that! Red on red with the first year of the Chevy Big Block the 348! But at least you can say that you have owned one. I have sold some that I wish I could have kept too. You and I are in the same boat! Lol. If you have any pics of the Chevelle or the Impala please send me pics of them to my Instagram: PrimeredisBest or Facebook: Primered is Best. I sure would love to see them! And thank you so very much for watching the video! I means a lot to me! Thanks so much!
Hello Mr. Frazier. Yes I have seen some too that I would love to have! But of course you have to keep in mind that I want and love every car and truck out there! Lol. Someone told me today that I am "Addicted to cars and trucks!" I guess that's a true statement. I think that you have good taste with the 61's too! Thank you very much for your comment! I really appreciate it!
I was a supermarket boxboy in a neighborhood full of retirees in 1989, Los Osos Cal. Lots of one owner cars perfectly maintained. Almost given a '69 Bonneville hardtop sedan in harvest gold. Was invited to look at a '35 Lafayette sedan (small Nash). Already had one project, '50 DeSoto Custom sedan. Parents woulda $#÷% a brick if I brought another home. DeSoto was wrecked once, had the '49 front clip bolted on. '62 is the best of the impala series, though they are all good. The '68 has started to grow on me a bit, now that you don't see any Impalas around here.
@@tomfrazier1103 Sounds like you were at the right place at the right time! I am the same way about cars. Like the DeSoto and the 68 Impala. If I don't see them much then when I do see one again then I think that they look pretty good! Lol. I got to ride in a 69 Pontiac Bonneville in 69. My friend's Dad was driving us to a track meet in the car. I was thinking how smooth the ride was and a very nice looking car! Thank you for sharing your story with me and making me remember memories that I had almost forgot. Thank you very much!
Wow, bought in Albertville Alabama, that’s where I live now ! Was the dealership Paul Smith Chevrolet ?? Sweet ride my friend, take care and have fun with it !!
Well it's a small world! All of my folks are from that area around Albertville! Yes it is from Paul Smith Chevrolet! Somehow we are related to the Smith's that own the dealership. My grandparents last name is Smith. I love going to Albertville, Guntersville, and Boaz area. Haven't been in awhile though. It had really changed since we were there last time. I guess it has changed even more now. Thank you so very much for your comment! It is a small world!
No, not really. That's why I made the video so folks who are looking to buy one, won't get fooled into paying more for something than it is worth. Thanks buddy for your question!
Good video, nice car. One other way to verify, and really the only way to truly verify if a 62 is an SS or not, is to decode the trim tag. If the car came with bucket seat interior, then its a true SS. If it did not come with buckets, then it is not an SS. As you said the emblems, grab bar, and swirl panels can all be added pretty easily. A bit harder to change the trim tag. By the way the bucket seat verification only applies for 62 model years, as far as I'm aware.
@@primeredisbest I know people say they have seen super sport cars with bench seats... I thought the same for years.... But apparently all SS cars left the factory with buckets. It wasn't possible to check the 30 dollar SS option box without first checking the hundred and some odd dollar bucket seat option box from what I've learned. Lots can be changed in 60 years I guess!!
Man, I had a chance years ago to buy an SS convertible and passed on it. Kicking myself now really hard. LOL Good Luck to you and please send pics on my Instragram or on my FACEBOOK PAGE Primered is best Thank you very much!

I just bought one that supposed to be an ss but the front seat is missing. Hopefully I can make the one from the 4 door tilt and I'll be ok. Been looking for one and couldn't find any.
Nice 62!! I also own a 62 hard top, was wondering if you know if theirs is clip or catch for glove compartment door because mine won’t stay up and is been like that since I bought it. Thank you
Hey buddy! The best I can remember about that is there is a little piece of metal that you can adjust so the glovebox door will open and shut. It is in the upper part of the compartment if the glove box. Maybe yours needs adjusted or missing. Give it a shot and see if that helps your problem. If not, let me know and I will try to help you if I can. Good luck to you my friend!
That's what I thought too! But actually you could get it anyway you wanted it back in the day! I have had and seen others with the bench seat and be a Super Sport! I almost bought a SS with the bench seat and a 3-speed on the column. Kinda wish I had bought it now! Lol. It was very pretty and ran great! Thanks buddy for your comment!
On a 1962 Chevy you need to look for the typical rust issues. Hood, floorboards, trunk, etc. As far as a good deal, if you can even find one nowadays you are doing good! Lol. These cars are worth quite a bit of money fixed up but parts are very expensive to purchase! Do you homework and look on EBAYMOTORS to get an idea of what you might be getting into. Good luck my friend!
Hello, Just make me a list of what you might be needing and I will see if I still have it. I have sold a lot of parts since I made that video. Most it the parts were sold locally. Thank you very much my friend!
Great video 👍 Do you happen to have a trunk panel moulding? The part that goes along the entire back of trunk with the trunk key hole, idk exactly what that panels called but I have a 62 sedan, someone broke into the trunk and crowbar'd the trunk key hole out so I just need the entire aluminum molding that goes across the back of the trunk, my trunk is fine just need that piece
I’ve never had a 62 impala But I did have two 61 bubble tops A 63 SS 64 SS 65 SS 63,64 4 doors. I had a Canadian made Chevelle. With Pontiac split Grill & Maple leaf Emblems and badgers. Why , I even had a 1969 Dodge curry cruiser. I grew up in Norwood Massachusetts, hometown of the Norwood Arena Stock Car Track , demolition derby, So as kids that was our Saturday night entertainment.
I have been really blessed myself to have owned several of them. It is one of my favorite cars of all time! You my friend have been blessed to have had all of those cool cars! Thank you for sharing your story! I enjoyed it!
I love your channel with all the stories and 62's that you've had. I'm finally going to restore my 62 SS. Could you share your tire and wheel sizes? Take care!
That's no problem my friend! Fronts are: 245x40x17. Rears are: 235x35x18. I hope that this is helpful to you! Please comment anytime on my videos! Thank you very much!
Hey 👋 Jesse from Texas how are you doing love the original 62 impala you have. Mine was same color scheme but since got it repainted Daytona Blue, I wanted to ask by chance do you have 62 convertible trim that the convertible boot snaps into?
Hello Jesse! Welcome to my channel! Unfortunately I don't have anything for a convertible. That might be a challenge to come up with. I can't even think of anyone who might have anything for a convertible around here. Good luck to you buddy!
I had a new 1962 Chevy 409 which had two crossed checkered flags on front and I think on the trunk lid. it was black with red trim and had a wide range 4 speed. The only thing I added was a set of Belanger Bro’s. Set of headers. I raced it on Long Island NY at two drag strips and loved it. Then in 1963 the US Army drafted me so I had to sell it. Two months after it was sold, the engine blew.
Thank you for sharing your story with me! And thank you for your service to our country! Thank you, sir! I have always wanted a 62 Chevy with a 409 engine in it! That would be the ultimate engine to have! I have have been blessed to at least have some 62 Chevy's but never with that great engine in it! I bet it ran good at the track! I would loved to have seen it! You are a very blessed man to have had a piece of history! Thanks buddy for your comment and your service to our country! Proud to have you as a Subscriber!
@Primered is best - I have to be honest. I was drafted and was in basic training in New Jersey and most knew I would be going to Berlin, South Korea or some place that was getting nasty, Viet Nam. My fiancé broke off from me because I would not be around, “Let’s see other people until you are discharged.” Well i did not go overseas but to Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn 9 miles from my house. I mostly drove Colonels and Generals around. 🙂 But thanks anyway.
@@lescobrandon3047 Mr. Konard, You still served our country! And I am very proud of you for that! Remember that it takes a team effort to make everything go smoothly! Whether you fought on Nam or cooked meals, or drove someone around you still served! I thought I would be going to Nam too! Had my draft card and was very soon gonna be out of high school. Went up to the Air Force to sign up with my buddy. Got all the way to the door and both of us chickened out! Lol. But Nam was winding down and troops were starting to coming home. I was glad too! I had pictured myself being on a rice field doing like Gomer Pyle going, Hooty hoo! Hooty hoo! Lol. But be proud of yourself! I am proud of you! Thank you for your service and for your comment! You're great!
I have a ss 62 impala there are little red lights that are under the ss impala emblems in the front of the car and the back. This will tell you if you have a real ss the holes for the emblems will also be available for the ss emblems with a big round hole for the red bulb turn signal lights.
That's a good question! I think that the doors of a 1961 and the 1962 Chevys are the same! They do share a lot of interior parts such as the dash components. But the outside other than the doors I believe are the same! Of course a lot of the mechanical parts are the same as well! Send me a video of your car and I will post it on my UA-cam channel: "Primered is Best". Let me know if you need any more info or help my friend! Good luck to you!
Not all 62 SS had engine turned rear panels. Early 62 SS cars Sept and October did not have SS swirl trunk panels. They came with Impala panels. Also whether they were made in Arlington, TX.
In 1973 I bought a 1962 Impala SS, black with red interior. 327 with automatic trans. I consider the 1962 SS only half an SS. Why? It had bucket seats but the shifter was on the steering column. It had half a consul between the front seats, which was a padded box with a lid. It had stock Impala wheel covers with an added spinner bolted in the center. In my opinion the true SS came out in 1963. Oh, and I bought the 1962 for the motor and junked the rest. I'm still kicking myself after all these years.
Thank you for sharing your story! I had one just like you described. I sold mine as well. Just one more regret that I carry along with all my other regrets! Lol. But at least we can both say that we have owned one! Thank you very much for your comment! Made me remember that 62 SS again! It was a good car!
Your '62 Impala Super Sport was correct, the column shift auto was correct in all full-size Chevys that year. Only 4-speed cars had floor mounted shifters. Also SS wheel covers did have the 3-bar "knock-off spinner in place of the blue center insert.
Well I am glad that you had a chance to remember a good memory of your 63 Chevy! I had an Uncle who had a red 63 Chevy Impala SS. It was a 4 speed car and sounded good! I loved that car! But I also like the kinda quiet sound of my Impala too! Just a good cruiser car. You can still talk to someone when you are driving and you can drive down the street and not wake everybody up in the neighborhood! Lol. Thank you very much for sharing your story! I sincerely enjoyed it very much! It's people like you that make great comments like that makes UA-cam interesting!
To know if your is a true SS and not a clone, you can check the vin number. My favorite is a 1963 Impala SS with a 409, 4 speed. and love the tach in the dash.
Thank you very much for your kind words! The tires and wheels sizes are Fronts: 245x40x17 8" Rears: 235x35x18 10" . I hope this is helpful to you! Thanks so much for watching the video!
Another difference between the regular Impala and the SS was the springs were 1 inch shorter on the SS. I had a new '62 Impala 300 hp 327 and when I put bigger tires on the back I switched to the SS springs so it would sit lower.
I guess i had a basic 1962/2-door/hardtop,....very dark blue, almost purple,....283-engine,....My very fist car at age 15, paid $100 for it back in 1979,.....bought it off my old neighbor's son,....ran great,.....great memories,...got in an accident and scrapped it in 1981.....😢..!
That sounds like a great car you had my friend! Such good memories that you and I have of our 62's! Thanks so much for watching the video and for sharing your story with me! I really enjoyed reading it my friend! Have a blessed day today my friend and God bless you and your family always!
Why not just check the cowl tag? Trim code "813" bucket seats. Only SS cars had bucket seats in 62. Atlanta cars also had SPORT X1 in the ACC code, not sure about the other assembly plants.
I have had Impala SS car with the bench seats in them. Back in the day, you could get one anyway you wanted it. Even with a 6 cylinder. Some of the plants that made the cars used ID's on the cowl, some did not. I am just showing what to look for in one quickly if you are looking at buying one. Thank you very much for your comment! I really appreciate it!
@@primeredisbest Back then SS was a trim package, not a performance package. Could you have gotten a 6 cylinder SS, yes. You also could have gotten a 409 non-SS. I've talked with several Impala people and the vast majority say go to the cowl tag to see if the car is a true SS. Every 813 trim car is a SS as only SS cars had bucket seats in 62.
I am sorry my friend but I do not have those parts anymore. I hope that you can find the parts that you need. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks buddy for your comment!
That is a sweet old car . SS's are cool and desirable but , not nessessary . Especially if " it's your car " and want to do what you want to it . Thanks for posting .
Thank you very much Mr. Lee for your kind words! I really appreciate you watching the video. Please comment anytime on my videos! You are most welcome! Thank you!
Hello Miss Apodaca! Thank you very much for your comment! I really appreciate it! It means so much to me that people like you watch my videos! Thank you very much! Appreciate it!
"Because hey, it's my car". That's the best reason in the world, right on.
Thanks for your comment! I hope that I didn't make my video sound cruel about opinions. But some people just seem to be judgemental on things that I do or say at times. But it's all good! I am very happy! Thank you for watching the video! I really enjoy having you for a subscriber! Thanks buddy!
That’s the best reason for sure. Dang skippy.
I forgot to mention that the "bubble top" variation doesn't look near as good as your Impala with the simulated convertible 'crease' just above the back window. There were 4 roof-lines as I remember: The bubble top - the 2 and 4 door sedan - the convertible - and your style. Yours is best.
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Thanks!
I have a 63SS and a 65 Convertable. I love these old cars.
Hello Mr. Sigmon! You are a very blessed man to have those years of old Chevy's! I love those old cars too! Thank you for sharing your story!
The swirls are called "machine turned metal" love the looks of it.
Thanks for the info! After I started the video, I kinda went blank! Lol. That seems to happen to me more often than not! Lol. I really appreciate your comment! Thanks buddy!
Actually, it’s not referred to as machine turned but engine turned metal.
2 door hardtop like yours are called "Sport Coupes"
Some came with the antena on the right front fender and some on the right rear fender.
I appreciate your comment my friend and for watching the video! Good luck on your search for the 64! Have a blessed day today my friend!
I had one exactly like yours in the early 70's. Loved the smooth ride. The baby blue color looked real nice with the SS cragers. Wish I still have it.
I have heard that too! Very interesting about the early models! Thanks buddy for your comment!
Love the 1962 impala or SS .
That body , is Sweet !!😎👍🔥🔥🔥
Thank you very much! I really appreciate your comment!
Thanks!
Beautiful ride. Love the history! Big thumbs up
Thank you ManCaveTV for your kind words! I really appreciate it! Thanks!
my dad bought us a 1962 impala the day before i was born and we’ve been working on it ever since.
Great video. My 1st car was 1961 Chev Biscayne. I'm real partial to these models. Beautiful car. Thanks for sharing.
I feel the same way as you do! Always loved those cars! Thank you so much for your comment my friend! I really appreciate it!
Thank you very much! Good information to know. I appreciate it!
I know. I have 3. 😁
@@Olds_Gold That's great! Thanks!

Just got a 62 impala SS. This was very helpful as I want to make the exterior and interior as original as possible. Motor has already been changed out. I need a lot of interior parts and also some exterior molding
I have sold alot of parts since this video was made.. Let me know what you might be needing on FACEBOOK or INSTAGRAM Primered is Best Thank you!
@Roger Loesch Thank you for the info. I went blank for a minute when I was doing the video. I do that alot lately. LOL Thanks again. I appreciate it.
Thank you for the info. I appreciate it.
Yes, my Deuce drop is original and did not have bezzled rear trim, nor the rear antennae. *but, I may have to grab that glove box cover from a ‘61.. oh, also I believe it should have two tone steering wheel.
Pontiac also used engine turned parts on gto & later trans am.
Sweet video man I love 62’s I have a 1970 impala and I wouldn’t mind adding this to my garage
Thanks!
My man.... I love the info your giving..... can you do a video for the 65' and even the 63' ????? thanks !!!!!!!
Don't know anyone who has those cars buddy!
Thanks!
The 62 impala is in my opinion the most beautiful car that GM ever built thank you for sharing

a water pump on it, drove it for two years, sold it for $200.
Yep, my Corvair was Black and did not leak Oil, it was a Cherry, should have keep that too!
You got a beautiful 62 impala. I just purchased a 62 convertible impala but needs some rust work done. I wish mine was as clean looking as yours.

My grandpa just sent me his 62 impala. I'm excited. It needs to work but when I'm done and get it all waxed and what not I can't wait to drive it around on a nice summer day.
Congratulations to you on your 62 Impala! I am sure that it will run and look great in no time! Good luck to you my friend!

I'm curious...which model had no tail light panel? I've seen a molding set for sale that is simply a bar that connects all the tail lights in a straight line.
That's a good question! That would be a "BelAir"! Thank you very much for your comment my friend!

@@donnlowe9129 Boy, I bet that was nice! But at least you can say that you have owned one before! That something that not too many people can say today! Thank you sir for your comment!

My uncle Larry had a black duece with red interior red trim 283 powerglide .
I had a bicayne bone red interior 235 3 sp overdrive .
You and your Uncle Larry have good taste! Lol. Seriously, those years of Chevy's are beautiful cars! So grateful that you took the time to watch the video! Have a blessed day today my friend and God bless you and your family!
I think that I enjoy the memories better than reality of the times today! I imagine that your 62 Chevy wagon was a beauty! Great color combo too! Thank you for sharing your story with me!

Thank you for that good info! Very much appreciated!
Impala trim option ran from 1961-1969 / then to the ones in the 90’s !
1967 was the last year you could specify an Impala Super Sport with the six cylinder engine...
@@mrBILL-sr2cu that's good to know. The SS chevelle first year with a standard big block was 66, though a few Z16 65s are out there but very rare. Too many people associate SS as a performance package when it was initially a trim package.
@@mrBILL-sr2cu Hello! Thank you for that good info! I really appreciate it! Thanks buddy!

I love 62 Impala's too! I really don't know of any right now but I will keep my eyes open for you one! Thanks buddy for your comment!
Biggest difference for me was the bucket seats! I customized my first car ('62 SS) by painting Testors PLA model paint (bright RED!) on the inside of the two rear upper interior lights. They would glow red at night when you opened the door.
Now that's interesting! Never heard of that! Thank you for your comment!
Translucent painted interior lights/ bulbs was a fad back in the early 60s.
Mine were amber..
I understand completely what you are saying! Sometimes life happens! Thanks for your comment my friend and God bless you!
I've heard that too buddy! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us! Have a blessed day today my friend!
My Aunt drove a '60 Biscayne. I've always liked the '62s, but have seen really clean '61 Sport Sedans, when I was a supermarket bagger.
Hello Mr.
I like your car, the early '60's Chevy's are sweet. Can you tell by the vin if the car is an orignal SS?
Thank you very much! I appreciate it!
Very nice i have a black 6 cylinder 62 convertible almost finished

I didn't know they made a seat like that for a 2 door. It's just like the one for the 4 door sedan but it tilts forward?
Yes that is correct! All 2 doors had those type of seats. Thanks for your comment my friend!
Also, SS only came with Bucket seats. Great video!
That's what I thought too! But actually you could get it anyway you wanted it back in the day! I have had and seen others with the bench seat and be a Super Sport! How do i know if im getting a good deal on a non Ss 62?...what key elements should i look out for?
On a 1962 Chevy you need to look for the typical rust issues. Hood, floorboards, trunk, etc. As far as a good deal, if you can even find one nowadays you are doing good! Lol. These cars are worth quite a bit of money fixed up but parts are very expensive to purchase! Do you homework and look on EBAYMOTORS to get an idea of what you might be getting into.

I have a ss 62 impala there are little red lights that are under the ss impala emblems in the front of the car and the back. This will tell you if you have a real ss the holes for the emblems will also be available for the ss emblems with a big round hole for the red bulb turn signal lights.
Something I never knew. I'll have to check into that. I almost did that to the F100 emblems on my 66.
Hello question im working on a 62 impala what other year impalas i can used parts from
I need doors,hood,fenders
I've never heard that before. Thanks
I had a 63 327 and your car sitting there idling sounds just like the one I had when in high school.
Thank you for your info! I appreciate it!
In 62 the vin doesn't verify an SS. The trim tag will. If it came with bucket seats, it's an SS. The only way to truly verify for a 62 model year.
What size r your tires and rims?...gorgeous stance
Thank you very much for your kind words! The tires and wheels sizes are Fronts: 245x40x17 8" Rears: 235x35x18 10" . I hope this is helpful to you! Thanks so much for watching the video!
Another difference between the regular Impala and the SS was the springs were 1 inch shorter on the SS. I had a new '62 Impala 300 hp 327 and when I put bigger tires on the back I switched to the SS springs so it would sit lower.
Thank you! That is some good info! I did not know that! Thank you for sharing!
That's a beautiful 62 Impala you got there👍
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it.
How much did you get the other ss impala for just curious?????
It was many years ago. I don't remember. Thanks!
This is correct. If it had buckets its an SS.
Hey there I have a 62 ss. Wanted to see if u have a trunk and the rear ss brake light area panel with swirls. N sum side panel trims.
I am sorry my friend but I do not have those parts anymore. I hope that you can find the parts that you need. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks buddy for your comment!

No sir, I do not have those parts! I have already sold them a few months ago! Thanks so much for asking!
That is a sweet old car . SS's are cool and desirable but , not nessessary . Especially if " it's your car " and want to do what you want to it . Thanks for posting .
