Yes that panel must be way more cos my 200w doesn't spark like that but i must say its not low grade at all cos it runs my lay z spa absolutely fine has done for over a year with an inverter and that thing used to cost a fortune to run.
Just make sure you don't get shocked. That type of electricity is deadly. Its the inverter that converts it to house energy wich isn't as deadly. Without it it's 💀
You may be better off with a extremely under-rated resistor in the middle.. The thing will obviously burn out immediately.. but it should start the fire much easier..
@@korbiniansimmeth5325 With the price they charge I want brand new unstressed parts. Please explain how short circuiting a solar panel causes no problem to the components.
@@MS-Patriot2 Well, solar panels are designed to run at their short curicuit current and are usually even tested by shorting them. During normal use they typical run at about 90% of their short cuirciuit current.
you can create a lot more heat if you add resistance rather then directly touching the ends of the wire together place one on opposite ends of the grill
Might damage the panel, that is a dead short. Better to use a 24 volt heating element (panels are 18-20, always under volt heating elements with solar.) or a 24/12 converter and 12 volt heating elements, like a cigarette plug.
I once connected the two positive ends of 2 460W solar panels and when I realised what I've done I pulled them apart which you shouldn't do and the cables exploded in my face
Only if you put in on after it's lit, solar panels are designed to operate very close to short circuit current and have ample capacity to dissipate the tiny bit of extra heat produced by a dead short. When I first got mine I was also worried about stuff like that but they're actually shockingly robust, they're tested to take direct hits from hailstones. Unless you smash them on a rock or a tree falls on them they're pretty hard to kill.
Something is fishy here, cause a ordinary Solarpanel is not able to produce a high current that could make a high voltage discharge that produces a arc like that. You would need a Stepup converter to produce a arc like that, especially the sound gives away that there it something wrong. Never heard a solar panel make a sound like that even one’s with a inverter’s on them and they would shut of the second you touch + & -
Don’t try this at home kids, get a grown up engineer😂😂 scary stuff that DC, that’s only one panel! Link 3 or 4 and you can have some real heart stopping moments 😳
Thats handy to know, whenever my lighter runs out, I can just use a 200w solar panel! 😂
200w? Thats low grade these days
Yes that panel must be way more cos my 200w doesn't spark like that but i must say its not low grade at all cos it runs my lay z spa absolutely fine has done for over a year with an inverter and that thing used to cost a fortune to run.
More like 400w
@@LOVE2RC the minimum i place on roofs is 410 watt per panel these days.
Just make sure you don't get shocked. That type of electricity is deadly. Its the inverter that converts it to house energy wich isn't as deadly. Without it it's 💀
Should have had a capacitor in the circuit to build up the charge
No not realy 200w is enough with a cap you won't get a nice arc it wil just weld the wires together
You may be better off with a extremely under-rated resistor in the middle.. The thing will obviously burn out immediately.. but it should start the fire much easier..
That panel will be on a clients roof next week now it’s been shorted out. 😊
And the problem with that is?

I know it seems violent, but this istn hurting the panel at all.
@@korbiniansimmeth5325 interesting, I was basing my thoughts on stressing batteries.
That tape looks yummy
Don't use paper.
Use steel wool as the igniter.
It's a coal pack dude, that's literally an impregnated firestarter wrapped around coal.
Not complicated enough.
you can create a lot more heat if you add resistance rather then directly touching the ends of the wire together place one on opposite ends of the grill
This is the most entertaining video the channel has ever made 😅
😂😂😂
agreed.
You need to pull the leads away slower, the voltage of one panel cannot make long arcs.
Noice! 😍
Please try also putting a piece of charcoal between the wires, the carbon might glow up if its resistance is in the correct range 😎
The question should be if you actually ate it after you lit the bag with the plastic tape still on 😂
Pretty sure they tell you not to remove it
Not gonna do anything anyway
How many BBQ starts do you get before the panel is ruined?
Wouldn't it be easier to just use a large lens and focus the sunlight onto the paper, at least then you get 90%+ efficiency
For this reason, is why it is always good to have a friend who is a smoker... WE always have a working lighter on hand....wink*
Maybe, but the smell puts me off
Might damage the panel, that is a dead short. Better to use a 24 volt heating element (panels are 18-20, always under volt heating elements with solar.) or a 24/12 converter and 12 volt heating elements, like a cigarette plug.
Maybe you should use a thin strand of conductor as a heating element
Only use a few strands of the copper so they act as a heating filament.
Put a big cap between, will spark more nicely haha
Have to start bundling Hershey bars, marshmallows, graham crackers, charcoal grills, and solar panels, the ultimate Smores solution.
Light it with a magnifying glass 😂
However, can you light a solar panel with a barbeque?
That green flame tells you it will be extra tasty
Doese the solar panel still out put something?
Thats how fires start in lofts if you clip the cables together.
Rodent attack could cause a fire
Alternateively you could have used a capacitor and resistor, waited thirty seconds and then done it with one hit
I once connected the two positive ends of 2 460W solar panels and when I realised what I've done I pulled them apart which you shouldn't do and the cables exploded in my face
Carbon free ignitor for a CHARCOAL grill.
Honestly it’s probably faster to get a lens the same size and use that, but i respect you all for the advancement to science
Next week. Can you light a solar panel with a BBQ?
Can you fry your solar panel with a BBQ?😂

I'll stick with a box of matches, and I can get that in my pocket!!!
I guess the solar panel is considered a multiuse tool for camping now 😂
That's fantastic, if you haven't got room to pack a lighter, just pack a solar panel.
Real question is. Could you light a solar pannel with a bbq?
🤣
Finally a green energy bbq!
Thank god I no this, I’ll keep one in the glove box just incase 😂😂
All that teck and money and a box of matches would do 😂
Use another panel in series. Better arc, better result.
Most won’t see how much this would help when ur living off the grid.
Bear Grills looking at this... 🧐😲🤯🤠😎
whats that big thing leaning on your grill?
its my lighter bro.
How long did it take tho Was it less time to go to the shop? Buy a lighter walk home and light your barbecue.
Solar Panel $200, box of matches $0.25 , destroying your solar panel prematurely , priceless.😂😂😂
Take a resistive coil out of a space heater and slap it on there
That would of been faster with a magnifying glass 😅
Also harnessing the power of the sun
Something is fishy here, cause a ordinary Solarpanel is not able to produce a high current that could make a high voltage discharge that produces a arc like that. You even can light a house with a solar panel…ask your local fire department 😂😂
Will that damage the panel?
You need more panels for green flares 1ft long trust me
A magnifying glass 🔍:
"Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power"
Yep those semiconductors will love that
So easyest way is use a glowplug from diesel
I like the solar panel its green electric 😊
A magnifying glass would've been a hell of a lot more efficient.
I'm more interested as to what's on offer than how you light it. Shrimp anyone?
next time can you light a barbecue with High voltage Lines?
Providing the is energy stored in the panel bad weather equals no energy
If you use pencil lead much faster give that ago. Also saw dust on it.
Nice tips
Here in Texas you don’t need a panel to light a fire
No you can’t light a bbq with a solar panel but you can light a fire starter 👍
Stil plastic(tape) on the paper, nice!
In 1 second it would be going with wire wool and a solar light solar panel
Next time try giving yourself a Brazilian with that.
The real question is can you BBQ with a solar panel?
Way more fun with 8 of them
😅
Cut out the middle man ... use a magnifying glass 😄
Can I do the same with my home battery black and red leads?
all the volt surges cant be good for the panel surely?!
This seems like a fairly expensive lighter 😂
Yep 😂
Shouldn’t you just be able to plug something in to light it?
Green BBQ confirmed
What happens if you touch the wires
It's easier if you use an ignition coil from an old car. Just make sure your solar panel is supplying 12-14 volts to the primary on the coil.
That will require either an ac or pulsating dc source
@@phillipcharlton9009cause car batteries are AC huh..
@@Deiphobuzz no but the voltage gets pulsated before
Now I'm wondering if I can melt some ants like I used to with a magnifying glass
Tape in your grill??
can I light a BBQ with a atomic electricity plant, YES !!!
dude, touch the charcoal with the two wires, it will be red hot in seconds.
next time use the silver bit from a chewing gum packet between the cables and see what happens
Good luck to the solar regulator
Solar panel powered spark plugs for your gasoline cars
I always keep one in my pocket.
A magnifying glass would have been quicker 😂 and it can fit in your pocket.
RIP warranty 😂
Me at 7am with no lighter and a cup of coffee
How many watts is that panel ?
Can you utterly screw up a Solar panel by pratting around.
YES YOU CAN!
Did you just burn plastic tape on that bag?...
Probably easier with a box of matches
Next time tear the bag and have 1 electrode on either side of the tear.
you're not lighting a BBQ, you're igniting an accelerant
You can also launch a rocket with a solar panel.......
Normal company price for lighting bbq £5
This guy charges £500
Just as expensive as his rewires 😂😂😂🎉🎉
A magnifying glass would be quicker
Think you'll find a lighter fits in pocket.... solar panels won't
Don’t try this at home kids, get a grown up engineer😂😂 scary stuff that DC, that’s only one panel! Link 3 or 4 and you can have some real heart stopping moments 😳
Quite more literally than some would believe.
Why not use matches and it much quicker
Please try this again in winter
😂
BBQ in winter!? /s
How I imagine bbq at Tesla headquarters
This is really useful when I want to destroy hundreds of dollars of equipment instead of using a lighter or a match
Magnifying glass would have worked better
