Apart from one letter of doubtful attribution, there is no evidence that Dara Shikoh knew or learnt Sanskrit. He commissioned Sanskrit translations of Muslim texts & his own works where 1)Monotheist=Vaidika 2)Allah=Parabrahma 3)Sufi=Ekatmavadin 4)Muhammad=Mahasiddha

No, unfortunately he couldn't become the mughal emperor although he was declared by his father shahjaha. He was beheaded by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and sent to his father who loved dara a lot.

It's the other way around. He adopted the name Shahjahan after becoming Mughal emperor, which means "Ruler of the world".
