lovely.
I've got a question: Could you do a process video on how you rendered your backgrounds for the film?
Thanks!
I just came across your channel and im like amazed.usually most channels take forever to upload, but you guys upload so fast with so many animations.are you guys like a whole animation team dedicated to this channel,or do you guys do other stuff?
@@Singularitytw its an animation school
Whoever music & sound designed this needs an applause. The haunting melody and the reveal where the melody came from was amazing
I love the entire scene in his old home. The plant life taking over, the objects frozen in time, the way he starts to suffocate from his own memories and it literally comes crashing down on him.
I like how when he's remembering the past, the aspect ratio goes from 16:9 to 4:3.
The music at the end reminds me a lot of Disasterpeace's music (Hyper Light Drifter, Fez)
So incredibly glad to have had the chance to aid on this film! My contribution may not have been more than some water ripples, but I'm very thankful for the opportunity, and by GOD have you all done a stellar job (this is my first time seeing it in full)!! I felt entierly captivated, glued to the screen, holding my breath until Simon got to breathe after the house scene. So intricately crafted, I hope you're all so SO proud of yourselves! ❤️✨
I think the horse symbolizes his childhood. We see a vision of it on the day Simon and Agathe can safely re-enter the zone, intact, but it's in a dreamlike haze -- tough to say if it's real or fantasy. Upon actually entering the zone, its bones can soon be seen in the grass, confirming once up close, it's dead and gone. No way to get it back. It's there in the waterlogged photo album drowning in Simon's old house, and a vision like one we saw near the start watches Simon and Agathe in the boat. By sailing away, Simon leaves the fantasy it can be reclaimed behind for good, but its ghost still peacefully haunts the town without him.
Absolutely adored this short. The atmosphere is fantastic.
It's amazing that this was created by students. They are so talented, the quality of this is amazing!
The geese migrating caught my interest, it’s always a sign of environmental recovery when animals migrate to historical sites once more. Waterfowl in particular, since most of the times they’re really sensitive to environmental changes
Also, the colors used in the film are ASTOUNDING, huge props to the use of color theory and color language! The way Simon’s blue clothes and blue bedsheets stand out in his overgrown, now wild home, like plastic in the woods.
AND THE HORSE AS WELL!!! I’m not sure what the symbolism of it is, but considering how historically it has symbolized humanity’s success, I think it might be about people returning.
Very beautiful animation short, reminds me of what happened in Chernobyl and even years after it happened how wildlife was thriving even in a contaminated zone.
Something so peaceful and ensuring in knowing that nature always find a way to flourish
@@ivanskoric5601 Very true👏👍.
this, this is me, thank you for giving me this, sometimes you really miss those old times, when you had different plans and you had a different life, but life is beautiful anywhere we go, we just have to find it
First time watching this I thought the guys name was Gene and he was taking in the grief of losing his childhood and the two sailing away was like symbolism of him leaving or moving on from his past, literally and figuratively with his colleague whom he shared most of his first stages of grief in losing his childhood, denial, but after reading the description I realized I over analyzed the animation short film. In my defense it easy to get lost in the sauce while watching this. It was so beautifully animated and draw as well as voice acted, it showed a lot in a short amount of time. Truly yet another amazing film produced.
art is left up to the viewers interpretation after all. I think your analysis is fair
i think you are correct! this is definitely a short film about grief and moving on
I mean I definitely think that’s a layer to it! And even if I didn’t, I think it’s cool when art evokes different interpretations
Man, even if they told us the radiation had disappeared I would have personally waited a couple days just to be sure. Radiation poisoning is no joke
yeah it happens to me all the time, so annoying
one of my favorite gobelins short films. absolutely gorgeous
This truly feels like magic, the art, frames, music, voices, sound effects, etc!👏✨My heart feel light, thank you
I'm so happy the connection came across, Pripyat was a big inspiration for the film. :)
There's a beautiful uniqueness from the short films this studio provides that keeps me coming back to rewatch the older films, and makes me excited to see new ones💖
I love the look on his face in the beginning, that desperate need to be outside, to explore the world once more. It's beautiful
feels very annihilation inspired. love the mood of this! bravo
I appreciate the attention to detail as well as the sound design. A lot of thought was spent in this production, tres bien!
I love how nature is shown here, especially all of the green! It's such a soft and peaceful take-over🌱 💚🌿
This is an amazing short! I really like how the piano music played starts by being a recording on the tape! Whoever worked on this did an amazing job!
Stunning visuals, great atmosphere, and you had me going with all the feels. Thanks for putting this out!
i really like the game board on 5:47 that has all the key elements: house, tower, horse, boat and two figures. on the other level i see this as journey into the past, that is overwhelming, nostalgic, and sad maybe because of long lost connection. but again he comes over it and takes one good memory/thing (boat) and keeps it.
This made me cry. Thank you.
Each frame is astonishingly beautiful!
i left country where i was living my entire life not long ago. i feel this film
i am not from people who wants to go back. i hate that place, it hurted me so much. everything that i am, my whole being, is claimed wrong and bad in this place. i can go to prison there for just fact of existing.
at some point it was bearable to be there, but then one day it became impossible to stay there. i took decision in one day. week and i left. moment changed everhthing
but a lot of people who left this place have something there. things. places. they have something good connected to this horrific place. they have connection to it
i know a lot of people dreaming of day it is all ending and they can go back. for me it sounds same as sudden back to zero level of radiation. it doesn't work like this
the dream of thing which once was home, destroied then suddenly, somehow becoming real again. i know people with this dream. can't say if its sad but. in that country i see house in ruins. h orse c оr рs. sometimes its sad to me to see that people see alive horse instead of that i see. it makes them wants to go to this place. and it is scary letting them go
Wow. That is a beuatiful comment and ties so well with the movie. It's like this film was made to describe your story.
I hope wherever it is you find yourself today, you can truly call it home!
@@nickpancakes2630 unfortunately this story is not only my own but many people experience. after moving out i started to see this in a lot of art
He walks like a ghibli character, kinda love it
This was beautiful! Thank you!
If anyone in the comments hasn’t watched scavengers reign please do :)
Shit I was waiting for something truly horrible to happen because of that series :D
@@Zenzuke Why did the tower lights flicker off??
J’aime beaucoup !
Moving, pure and poetic, beautiful
Amazing work, thank you all.
This is ammmmaaazing!! It’s totally git Scavenger’s Reign vibes✨
This could be a beautiful pilot for a poetic mystery sci-fi-ish series. Loved it!
This was an incredibly immersive short! It made me feel emotional yet it was very meditative. The artstyle, the animation, the sound and the story worked so well together. I'm completely at awe! Very impressive!💜💜💜
gently eerie, wholly disarming, lightly humorous, with an soundtrack i'd buy on CD. Gobelins students never miss
The environmental/background animation is amazing... the way the ground whooshes at 0:38, all the walking through the grass...
The collapse of the stair at 4:27, and then of the window at 6:30 were so seamless, I've never seen that done so well! (I'd love to hear more about how that was done)
The build from 6:00 to 6:30 worked so well too, the animation, pacing, and sound and music really came together.
ah can't wait! Trailer looked so gorgeous x
This is a very remarkable story
Aaaaahhhh it's gonna be so beautiful it will burn my eyes!!
Made me want to run through a forest. Really enjoyed the music too!
I don't know why, but I feel like I'm about to cry. Such a beautiful film!
So nostalgic :,) stole a few tears from me
C'est absolument magnifique !!!
So excited!!!
the artistry in this is incredible 🙌🔥
THAT HANDS ANIMATION... blessed
Can't wait 👀!!
The coworker is so pretty in a Shelly Duval type way
This is so beautiful!!!
C'était incroyable, merci
Can't wait!🌿🌿
Why aren't there more animated movies or series in this style-slow and deliberate?
Mon film préféré de tout les temps 🌷
7:05 this was so adorable
We are blurring the tracks,
Losing our way back,
On this moving seabed,
Deep waves got us misled.
I had a dream about my childhood and regrets ...
...then I saw this
Holy shit, Heaven in 10 minutes. Truly breathe taking.
So the little boy on the tape recorder is Simon himself? How does the battery still hold charge after a decade? I do like Agathe's spectacles and how they dramatically exaggerate her eyes. Very expressive. And I like the board game. The pieces are always trying to come home.
Good eye for detail with the board game..!
I love how Agathe's eyes are small without glasses ! 😂
I bet everyone thought the same and smile at that moment.
The cause of this all is subtly, yet definitely not mundane radiation.
The initial shot, the sudden disappearance of radiation, the liquid still in the cup, that... moment he had in the house, how he "disappears like that," its all subtle storytelling
Beautiful!
Can’t wait😎
This is so beautiful
wonderful !
beautiful
DON'T STARVE TOGETHER WORMWOOD GO
Wow it’s so poetic

Ce Frenglish is amazing 👌
"Сталкер" Тарковского референс
incroyable!!
This is touching
thanks
Une nouvelle bonne raison d'aller à gobelins 😂😂
Hedgehog in the fog mysterious horse moment :P How is she... out there... in the fog?
That was so awesome
This gives me the Annihilation feel.
Reminds me a bit of Scavenger’s Reign.
The strange almost alien surroundings, the soft palette of animated colors, and the slight unsettlement draped over everything.
One film can be praised without comparison. This film stands alone in its beauty.
Chernobyl means “wormwood.”
🐴🙌
❤
WOW
He got over that quickly, Agathe is so chill in this situation. I wonder if she also lived there, somewhere, she didn't seem familiar as Simon
in reality, no bio remediation of nuclear radiation could yield a 95% reduction in emissions within under 200,000 years.
