The 2023 Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 Home Surround Sound System is the world’s first plug-and-play surround system with 15 digital amplifiers, quad subwoofers, 6 upfiring speakers and 2 Omni-Motion Reference Surrounds. The system supports Dolby Atmos®, Dolby Vision®, Qualcomm® aptXTM HD and is the first wireless system to be equipped with DTS:X® Pro technology.
The Nakamichi Dragon badge represents unprecedented technological breakthroughs and audio performance. From the legendary Dragon Cassette Deck (1982) to the Dragon Turntable (1985) and Dragon CD Player (1996), these legendary products changed the audio industry completely.
After 5 years of research and development, Nakamichi is proud to announce the timely return of the Dragon with a revolutionary 11.4.6 surround sound system for our 75th anniversary.
Serious props to Nakamichi, I currently have a house full of Sonos equipment so I will not be replacing my Arc, dual subs, and pair of ones in my living room, but you can’t deny the ambition of Nakamichi. The last Nakamichi system I had was the Shockwafe and I was really impressed. While other companies only offered a single sub and maybe a pair of surround speakers but many times not even that, Nakamichi offered FOUR surrounds and for the first time in a soundbar, dual subs. Now with this system having six Atmos drivers, I have nothing but respect for Nakamichi for trying things other soundbar manufacturers won’t.

Hahaha. What a waste sir. You should of invested in a real high fidelity system. 🤷♂️
what an amazing intro hats off to the person who made this
Nakamichi is becoming like Gillette. 1 subwoofer? 2 subwoofers? 4 subwoofers! The best sound a man can get. This does put a smile on my face.
So many references in your comment...
I love it 😁

By the description and looks of the setup, it would appear Nakamichi has developed an incredible plug and play home theater sound system. Well done gents

This is mind blowing!!!I just purchased the Nakamachi Shockwafe ultra 9.2.4 eARC Ch Soundbar with TWO 10" WirelessSubwoofers & Four Surround Speakers just last month.

This is essentially a home theater. The power, amount of speakers and the performance is on that level
I’ve been a Dragon freak most of My life, still have my Dragon deck since teenager. I think I’m in on this.
Hi, Nakamichi Definitely !!. if you want the best. Forget other brands. Still have my Nakamichi Deck BX300 E and it is still playing. i will buy the Nakamichi Dragon to replace my Harman/Kardon 2.1 for the TV. Glenn

This thing can be considered for our living room with almost 0 compromise on sound! Thanks Nakamichi for innovating in sound bar space so that we Audiophile Husbands🙃 can have our setups adaptive to the environment.
I would consider this for my bedroom.
Glad to see the great Nakamichi name has been resurrected! I remember way back in the '80's, going to a high-end hi-fi dealer in Lancaster CA, where I first saw and heard Nakamichi products. They had several models including a Dragon. Being a funds-limited teenager, I luster after the Dragon, but couldn't afford it. So, in about 1985 I bought a BX-300, and Bang&Olufsen BeoGram 5500 with MMC4(I think) cartridge. LOVED both of them, and played and enjoyed them until about 2013 when I finally succumbed to the digital age and put them in their original boxes. I hope to be able to get "tune-up" parts for them (belts etc.) and sell them. Glad to see Nakamichi in business again so that perhaps I can get new original parts for them. They played perfectly the last time I used them, and are in perfect condition, so, hopefully I can get a decent price for them, I just want them to go to a good home.
This home theater system is great

It has 4-8"sub
Nakamichi! Listen and send model dragon to review for UA-cam reviewers when dragon is available
That’s certainly a dream system 🔥🔥
4 woofers?! 4 WOOFERS?!!! DANG!
4 tiny ass woofers. For the price of this you could get a crazy sub and a half decent reciever plus fair starting speakers.
4 compartmentalized into 2, more efficient design while maximizing power
@@overkill1994 I wouldn't call 4 8's "tiny", that's still a lot of surface area, WAY more than a single 12". That's 804 sq in of surface area, vs a single 12" at 452 sq in. I've got 2 10's in a single back-to-back enclosure so that's 628 sq in. But then, all 7 of my speakers (Focal Chora 826's) are large, full-range(ish) speakers so all my mid-bass (down to 48Hz) drivers (2x 6.5" each, I'm not counting the 6.5" midrange) have an absolutely absurd 1,848 sq in of area. It's absurdly punchy in the area where music is actually played with a total of 30 different drivers. And for low end movie effects, that's what the sub is for. So, I think that the 4 8" subs could provide pretty good bass, if not down to a true 20Hz, which, let's face it, few actual subs can actually achieve.
please bring this to UK.
The brand Nakamichi ? Forget other brands. When the Dragon comes out i will definitely buy this one to replace my Harman/Kardon 2.1 BTW: Still have my Nakamichi Deck BX300E (E is for Europe) and it is still playing ! Glenn
someone brought up a good observation about the setup depicted in the video, the subs are in the front and the rears are well in the rear, so are the rears wireless too or do they still attach to the subs? Its interesting that they got rid of the side speakers and went with true upfiring rears. The part about 4 subs is a bit of a stretch. Its still to sub woofers with two drivers in each, not 4 separate subs. I just picked up the earc and am pretty happy with that especially for the price. Got it on sale for $1500 which is half the cost of this at, rounding up, $3500. Would be really interested to see the youtube reviews and comparison between this and the eARC!
I don’t know why they went with a Dipole only format when the eARC model allows for actual side and rear surrounds. I absolutely love that they added discrete upfiring atmos drivers, but I wish I could have the rear surrounds and Atmos drivers as well.
Hi RTube,
Yes, the surrounds are wireless.
@@justinbeasley4575 yeah I’m not sure why they wouldn’t allow for actual separate side and back surrounds. I would think having both in one unit would limit the effectiveness compared to dedicated speakers in both positions.

Does this new bar have a room calibration system?
Is the room calibration of the new Nakamichi Dragon bar customizable with the filters?
If I measure with Room EQ Wizard at my usual listening point, will I be able to export parametric filters to the soundbar?
written with translator
Greetings
Hi Juan,
You can do calibration using the built in On Screen Display.
@@NAKAMICHIUSA Thank you for the deference in answering but to my query that you can advance.
What can you comment on the calibration, will it be customizable from having measurements from the usual listening point with Room EQ Wizard for example?
I'm interested to know if that is or will be possible.
An example:
If I have a peak of +15 dB at 38 Hz, can I apply a filter at that specific frequency?
Great question.
Here’s some information on calibration:
DRAGON offers both preset (small/medium/large) and manual room calibration options to optimize for your room.
With the calibration tab on the On Screen Display, you can manually input the distances for the different components based on your room environment. For instance, you can input the distance of the Main Unit to the Listening Area, Side Wall, Ceiling and surround speakers to adapt DRAGON’s playback to your listening environment.
Specific frequencies cannot be adjusted. However you can 1. adjust the number of subwoofers active, 2. Adjust balance between the subwoofers or 3. Use a different EQ preset that suits your room acoustics better
Hope that clarifies, thank you!
@@NAKAMICHIUSA Thanks for the clarification but the most important thing is to know the equalization power of the room calibration, if it is customizable and if in some way knowing the frequency response that we have at the main listening point improve it with measurements made with Room EQ Wizard by example.
If I have a +15 dB peak at 38 Hz and a +8 dB peak at 65 Hz, I would like to know if I can tame it.
As of today I have powerful, manual and customizable equalization for each channel of my 5.1 and I can make the desired target.

Id only use soundbars in a small place like apartments or units, the only reason i dont buy soundbars because i like tunning my sound system manually by the tools on the settings with a dsp meter mic and buying speakers that produces the right frequencys at a certain loudness so they dont peack, the louder the speaker, the better i can tune it in a big room at the lowest to highest frequency at ear levels and distance thats why i do that and i like having 10 inch subwoofers and Dolby true hd, thats why i spent 5 thousand on a 5.2 sound system for my likeness and entertainment. Cause i know how to make a proper sound system.
I'm genuinely interested in Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6. However, I think you should have included actual 4 subs for $4,499.

I never thought to think to buy a sound bar vs my actual b&w + Av receiver system……but selling that I can afford it easy.I also saving meters of connections time to adjust the room and many many many hours lost to find the correct position and more other things ….. incredible how even in a video you were capable to show the potential of this project. Great job!
This HAS to come to the UK... we have no space for massive discreet systems. End of discussion.

My living room has an odd shape. Left side of the room opens to the dining area. I’m concerned how the side firing speakers will do.
EXACTLY why I picked the floor plan I did when building my house. I have front, and side walls, with only the back open towards the kitchen. I couldn't have done with any of the other floor plans like that. For one thing, people would be tripping over speaker wires.

It’s all for naught if they don’t nail the wireless connectivity. That falls down and doesn’t matter how good it is. Hope they nail it.
Pretty pricey for a soundbar system, but it does look like they are packing a lot into it. I don't know if I've seen an active soundbar that uses AMT tweeters before.
You'll get more from a dedicated system. At that price you could get 2 SVS subs and some Klipsch speakers and it'll be miles better!
@@denziiey Klipsch? For HT?? Ok...
