- In this video we're exploring a large abandoned mansion in north central Kentucky. The William Tarr house was built in the mid 1860's, and has been abandoned since 1985. You can read more about William Tarr and the business enterprises he once operated:

You can tell this was a BEAUTIFUL 'Estate', back in the day!!!! I know it might sound silly, but I've often wondered if a home gets lonely for it's past owners?!
I hear this House crying :-(
This still has some of its beauty left. I wish someone had kept this home up, I'm sure this house was a beauty in its day.
That was a beautiful video, loved the music. It took me back home to my first farmhouse in 1977. I think of it often. Thank you..
This was, and still is, an amazing house! You can see the beauty in the bones of it, in every detail. I always appreciate learning the story of a house, and thank you for sharing your exploration, along with some history. You really do quality work. 💐
Thank you!
Another great explore. I'm so glad you do videos like these so that the images are saved. Buildings, like people don't last forever.
Wow that ceiling medallion on the ceiling as your first entered the house was a work of art. That was incredible. All done by hand I am sure. What an incredible find that player piano was. My FIL had one and it was amazing to watch it work. Your videography is very creative and so interesting. You go for the tiniest details which adds so much interest to your videos. Another superb job. Thanks for sharing this and taking me on a captivating journey. Just awesome. Loved it! CANADA
Thank you so very much! I loved that ceiling medalion as well. I dont think the details ever seem to get the attention they deserve so I over indulge them lol.. Im glad you enjoy it, thank you
Thank you for recording this home before it is gone forever. Can only imagine what it must have been like years ago.
Thanks a lot Mike
Great video. I like how you provide so much history behind the location.
Thanks a lot!
How incredibly sad the house was not restored. What a beautiful piece of history fading away. 😢
I agree
Enjoyed that explore. You caught some really good lighting in there. And it was awesome seeing the bits of the past still lying around.Cheers!
Hey there, thanks a lot! The light was great inside, even though outside it was grey and gloomy as it usually seems to be when I do these lol.
I bet it was a beautiful building in it's early years.
In my mind's eye, I can tell how beautiful this home must have been. It's a damn shame that this historical gem has been left to rot.
Still makes me sad. Beautiful arch over the door home full of warmth and love at one time. I'm new to you videos, really like them. I'm subscribing!!!😀
Thank you Pati! Glad you enjoy them
Wow! I bet this house was beautiful in its heyday! You have a great voice for narrative film
Such a beautiful old house. So sad in its state of decay. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for the tour. It must have been beautiful in its day. I specially like the wallpaper with the horses.
It's so great to see you on here again, wonderful video and the music matches so well with the story you told. Welcome back! :) You've been missed!
Thanks Annette! Its great to be back
LOVE it!! Not too fast or slow! Wind in the trees gorgeous...love all your work💝
Holy shit, an explorer who explained the history behind where he was at with great detail and pictures..you my friend are a rare breed
Really enjoyed this, 1st one of your vids I have seen and am impressed with your quality. Not shaky or rushed and nice background material. subscribed
So sad to see it fall apart like that. Thank you for sharing your findings, and history. Excellent video!
Thanks Veronica!
Why, why, why do people let these incredibly beautiful houses fall apart? It makes me sad as these houses can never be replaced. All the beautiful woodwork could have been repurposed too.
The wind makes the video more surreal.
Wow! The music and the wind made this perfect!!
It's a real joy watching your videos. Many thanks for sharing
Must have been amazing beauty in it's day all the houses
Awesome video ! Thanks for sharing !!
Thank you!
Terrific video, great camera work..and the best part that most all other UE guys leave out, is a bit of history about the subject.. Appreciate the work yall do..keep it up!
Thanks a lot!
I agree the history helped. I don't care if you are exploring a double wide traitor. I want the history. or at least something I can Google and look up.
Brilliant video, so many details... I like the different perspectives, great camera work! Greetings and all the best for 2017!
Thanks very much! Happy new year, all the best to you as well
GREAT job as usual! Please keep doing what you obviously like and or love to do!
Thank you very much! I will definitely
Maybe b c I'm from Ky. this one made me want to cry. Such craftsmanship and fine beauty just left to rot. Heartbreaking. I love old houses old architecture.
The 4k is great and so is the music! 👍 😆
Thanks very much Steven!
Absolutely love your videos ...
I love this channel... totally binging
Thanks for taking me along! Absolutely fantastic video. I know exactly where the property is and always wished I could have visited. Thank you again for a wonderful exploration. I subscribed long ago and am excited to see your videos. Morehead, KY
Thank you Cindy! Glad to hear from you
Back in 1981 we bought a Trailer for our first home & it had those exact curtains. And I didn't like them much! And 6 yrs ago I bought a house built in 1925 & it has those indoor shutters in the dining room & front room. Still haven't taken them down, but should, cause they are kinda broken up in many places. Love your video! Thanks! Love seeing these old places. The Rock Wall reminds me of my Dad, cause he did work just like that to many houses. He was a Brick Layer.
Nice explore. Kind of surprised me that so many architectural details were still there and not stolen. I'm always amazed at the big beautiful old wood beams. Almost looked like some of the damage might have come from people stealing them.
very good video, I like it. greetings from Austria
Oh thanks for the history lesson being from Australia I found it cool.
Great Video, I really enjoyed watching it, thank you. 👍
Thanks! :)
Fabulous house in her day...the wind in the trees is so sad. I was surprised that the woodwork inside was not painted. It was a sign of wealth back in those days.
Another amazing explore!! This was still a gem even in its state of decay. Thanks for taking us along! BTW, what is the sound clip/song you used for this video? It was awesome too :-)
Love that video the house was so beautiful once
Very professional. Enjoyed this. Best I've seen.
Thank you very much Steven
You do a professional job with the history, video and I like your choice of music
Far better put together than many I've seen. One guy was even smacking gum while he filmed while babbling nonsense. Thanks for the extensive history about the place as well.😎
great video
Loved it!
Thanks Susan!
If walls can talk
I'd love to explore these places!!
Why is this land not been sold? Are there living relatives holding on to it? I always wonder why these kind of places stand vacant for years and nothing is done. No one comes to claim it or to come and sell it?
Some one is paying the taxes on this establishment or the state would sell it to the highest bidder after the tax foreclosure!
Hopesmom77 , I agree whole heartedly. I have watched the areas around me being developed, then they build new houses, and thousands of people move into the new ones and walk away from the old. Can anyone say "recycle"? salvage the wood, brick, windows, we are using our planet up and no one cares! BTW: bourbon county my is one of the most beautiful areas in the state.
nice editing :D great job
Thanks!
Cool house
Very nice explore interesting old place too bad you couldn't reach the collapsed part apart from a nice glimpse from the bottom lol
Its Beautiful❤
Awesome find
Thanks Shawna
=)
Wow this is a good video thanks for sharing.👻👻
Thanks : )
How is this not a museum? I see more and more old structures getting bulldozed and gone forever. It really is sobering once gone since there is no return. And it kills me such amazing craftsmanship is laid to waste yet McMansions get built that wouldn't last 10 years unattended.
love your channel!! can you give locations? i would love to visit!
This house was so pretty once
What kind of camera were you using? Good job showing us this piece of history.
i am a new sub!!
great vids
Thanks Lorraine!
Are there any photos of the interior of the house ? Especially of the front entrance hall ? This would have been an amazing home
When William Tarr lost his fortune in 1890, no money was left to update and restore his home before his death. He probably had a small amount of cash to live on .... sad. It seems the mansions are hardest hit because of their size and the vast amounts of cash and work which need to be done costing a small fortune. It seems the smaller Victorian homes of 3,000 sq. ft or less are easier to save for future generations. We saved an 1862 Victorian built from solid walnut interior and exterior. Over the years the wood has harden and even a nail won't penetrate it. Solid structure and built to last 500 years or longer if maintained.
I literally pass this house all the time!
Very well done!
Thank you silent partner!
Kentucky Urbex I wish I were still the silent partner....
You and I both.. all you have to do is say the word. Too bad it isnt that simple
Kentucky Urbex I wish it were...I miss this..
What a magnificent old mansion, so sad, if only the wall could talk
so many abandoned mansions that could be used for so may things, but left to rot
I bet they played Dixie on that Piano at one time or another
and Camptown Races for sure
You know it! Gave me chill bumps!!
House is definitely talking. What a beauty she must have been.
If only the walls could talk! I used to think the same thing about my old home that was built in 1920...a home I no longer own.
A great subject for a video and the video so well done. I know that 30 years is a long time but I wouldn't have expected the decay and deterioration to be so far advanced in that amount of time for a house built when houses were built to last. Maybe there were decay and structural issues even while the house was occupied? Perhaps a few doors and some woodwork and a few other items could be salvaged but most of this house is too far gone to save. If not demolished it would be interesting to see the structure at regular intervals t watch how nature reclaims and to see what part of the house last the longest.
Thank you Andrew, as to the condition of the collapsed part of the house, once the roof is compromised it can happen very quickly. Yes that would be interesting to see, I would venture a guess that the original front part would stand the longest, additions are often the first to go, as in the case of this house
So this home has been sitting empty since 1911. No one ever settle the estate or sold the home to anyone else. What a freaking shame
Love your video and I subscribed. I wanted to ask you something. When I travel from Tennessee to Cincinatti, and take I-75 North from Lexington (I-64/I-75)., as I make the right turn to go North on 75, about a mile or maybe just alittle further than that. There is an old home off to the right, it has a trailer parked in front of it. I guess maybe people are living in the trailer while they refinish the house. My question to you is, Do you know anything about this home? The history etc...,
I’m 90% sure I know the house you’re talking about. It was recently sold and is completely renovated. It was most likely just an old horse farm. We have a lot of old homes in lex
There is black entity moving across the side of the house from the 34-41 mark. It's about 3 or 4 feet down from the roof. Thought it was a cluster of dead leaves at first but when you slow it down you can see that's it moving.
Can u guys helps us with location's to film at here in ky
Beautiful house I Wonder who it used to belong to..
There are very few "rags to riches" stories. Most are "rags to riches to rags" stories. Look at Long Island and all the palaces once built by titans of industry. Most of those fell into ruin, or the families turned them over to become tourist attractions. It's a shame for this beauty to disintegrate.
Unless you are a banker....
Such a shame to see it go to such ruin.
Just so sad 😢
creepy explore, yall so brave to explore historys unknown depths. sad to such beautiful home rot to nature. just cant understand why its still abandoned, or why no one wants it. love that medallion in the entry way, strange to be the only thing left standing.
Creepy old house at night, I bet!
Can you please tell me where this is I've tried to find it but I couldn't
braxton wilson is it in Kentucky?
you should look All around the fire places, they sometimes would hide the valubles etc..from the yankees etc...Thanks for posting..love this stuff...
How do these houses stay abandoned?
Massive
I live in Lexington KY
Sad😢
I have watched this home slowly beg for someone to bring the joy back to her as it once was. The staircase is magnificent. I just do not understand why whomever has been paying the taxes would allow it to just die. Let someone give the staircase banister a new life. Allow the doors to proudly open greeting it's new family. Why deprive part of this home the chance to live and not to die falling into a heap of saddened rotting nothing
Such a waste
I had a cousin that used to go in places like this and eat paint chips off the walls. They eventually institutionalized him. He was a real nut case.
Could you share coordinates or an address?
Slight hints here and there indicate the last time anyone resided on this property .... 1960's. The blue tub and the curtains are a clear give a way.
😇 good accent
I don't understand why these big beautiful homes, part of this country's history are just left abandoned to sit empty and decay until all the beauty is turned into dust!!! The local county and state governments should step in and help get it occupied for the sake of the nearest town and they make more taxes on nice well kept homes than not!!
I just don't understand the reasons for allowing it to happen. 😪
Creepy dirty.
😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈
It’s in much worse shape now
Its burning as of right now...🤬👎😭🙏🙏
Oh wow, that is terrible.. Did you see it or hear about it? Do you know if it was in a newspaper? Thanks.
