I flew to Indianapolis to buy a 2021 Civic Type R at MSRP, embarking on a road trip back to California!

I went to my dealership in Ohio to have my new Accord serviced they had the exact black Type R in their showroom. It was still available for sale. They wanted 5k above MSRP. I offered to buy it on the spot if they would sell it for MSRP, but they wouldn’t budge. Congrats on the new sled. I know from seeing it in person that it is a sweet car.

@@Rip84LW from what Ive seen so far, I don’t like the looks. And plus, I was done with my 10th Gen Si and needed a replacement sooner, rather than later. This Type R was the safest choice for me. There are already tens of thousands of Type R owners in North America, whom I hope a good percentage of will end up subscribing, along with my current subscribers who mostly own 10th Gens of some sort. It was just a super safe bet

I feel like the Hyundai Veloster N’s exhaust would fit the Type R perfectly.
You are right my friend, i test drove both the Veloster N and Type R and I had way more fun driving the Veloster, it felt and sounded way more sporty and exciting to drive.
It's a lot smaller, feels more nimble and sounds way, way, way, way,way way better, and doesn't look ridiculous like the Type R does.
Veloster N all day!!! Although given the disappointing VN price bump for 21 models it could go either way. All preference.

@@AM-tc8bg yes the price jump is pretty big. I was able to find a 2020 Veloster N in performance blue for $3,000 discount off MSRP.
Saved over $6,000 off the new 2021's.
When I test drove the Type R I experienced the dreaded 1 to 2nd gear grind. Wasn't a great feeling.
@@dougmaverick3287 once the weather gets a little better here in NJ I will definitely be looking for a N. It’s a bit funny you mention the Type R gear grind because I was just thinking about whilst still watching Cameron’s video. Very unfortunate that gear grind is still a prominent issue for some CTRs.

Crazy how 2 months ago I stumbled across this video and thought " one day" lol. Well after countless amounts of emails, phone calls and searching.. I just bought my 2021 type r- black. In love with the car. Awesome stuff Cameron, I had to come back to this video since it really was the video that sold me on the type R.

In australia we have 98 everywhere... 91 is the lowest, with 94 being mid range and at 100% of stations basically

Thanks to the video it inspired me to flew out from CA to TN for my dodge charger because dealers around me wants 5k-10k mark up! Me and my father had a fun road trip we only paid for gas and food because I used my points for flights and hotel ,cost less than 800 for the entire trip 😆

Hey mr Cameron Hill, Brett here from Cape Town, South Africa. A little bit late to comment now i suppose but yeah. I just bought my first turbo car yesterday and its amazing. Its a 2010 VW Jetta 1.4 TSI Highline. So like All the nice features except for bluetooth but that ain't a thing. I also had just as amazing experience with the dealership I bought my car from, I walked in and was greeted immediately. Told them about the car they had that I saw online and they actually said its too old to finance but literally in the same breath told ma about this car and even offered to drive me to their other branch to test drive it! Excellent service is an extremely hard thing to come by these days and makes the world of difference. MYAA Auto in Bellville Cape Town is the best and i absolutely love to BOOST now all the time lol. Congrats on your new car mate, it looks totally sick.

I think the sound system is the same, but it being a hatchback the acoustics are a bit different. I know in my SI there's some rattle near the sub and that's a pretty common issue for the sedan but it doesn't affect the hatch. Also congrats, you deserve it! Can't wait for mods and content!

Fire. I remember that feeling of getting a new car. I got my si 2020 last year during the pandemic when they didn’t let you test drive cars. The best part about it was I didn’t know how to drive manual. I had to drive from New Jersey to brooklyn during rush hr, so I had to learn fast

Finally Cameron, you got it. This vehicle is amazing. I'm R-19405. Got mine recently in 2021 for 40k Canadian with 5817km on a 2018, miles maybe 2000 miles. As you know Canada doesn't really have all colors come out like the states does. 2018 is the only year Rallye red came out in Canada. Each year is different but still have the black or white on all years. I Love the red and so I got it. We'll have fun, PPF the front as soon as you can. Safe drive back home and looking forward on future videos.

The Civic Type-R is something that I want to pick up for myself in a few years because it is just such an awesome hot hatch with an amazing 6MT. Glad to see that you got yours without getting screwed on the price!

Lucky 🍀 you found it at MSRP on Indiana. On Feb 2018 when I bought my 17’ I had to drive to KY to get mine at MSRP. No dealer on Indiana wanted to let them go for MSRP.

Congrats bro! Welcome to the Type R club! I'm at about 6,000 miles on mine. Once all my tread is gone bronze wheels and tires are next for me. The HKS legamax exhaust has a deep throaty sound on my R as well. I'm fighting the urge to not buy a downpipe, frontpipe, intercooler, and tune. Trying to hold on to the Warr for at least the first 3 years 🤣

If I wasn’t 35 with 2 kids, I probably would have bought the Civic Type R instead of the GTI. Love my GTI, but your car is really impressive. I’d have to void my warranty and go stage 2 to even compete. Awesome videos man, love them.

No painters tape on the front end for the road trip?
Nice color but black swirl marks are easily seen. Cars washes gotta be done properly and carefully to avoid getting swirl marks
I guess no painters tape. It keeps raining, but maybe when it clears up ill tape the front end
Honestly you’re right black is brutal but also looks delicious from a distance. You can see swirl marks when up close but honestly at this point I DGAF anymore
Have it professionally detailed and get a good ceramic coating on it. Or some HD Speed then some Fusso if you’re not comfortable with ceramic and want to do it yourself. . Blacks a bi***. So is white though.
Good luck with it, man! I’m waiting for MSRP myself and just went with a 2020 SI for now. Keeping the miles really low too so I have a nice down payment on a type R when these greedy dealers stop this madness. The cars been out too long for it to be marked up. And they are easy to find now. At least in my area. I won’t fly or drive that far though. If the cost is close to 3-4 grand between plane ticket, gas, & hotels (thanks mom lol) I’d just pay the extra. About how much was your trip including all that stuff if you don’t mind me asking?
True. I would suggest keeping your distance with the car up front when driving on highways and get on the back road at some point.

Just rode in the boost blue color type r today. It’s definitely a drivers car and the seats keep you put. The cruise cruise control works pretty decent too for being a manual.

Cam, I purchased my 99 SI back in the day brandy new, it was black and I added red exterior features myself, great choice! I have always been a Civic fan and was "fast and furious" even before the movies :) To watch your video took me way back! great times.... I am 55 now and actually just purchased my daughter a 2021 Civic Sport in white. I may be itching on the Type R soon but have the 2020 Pilot with the wifey in a 2020 CRV. Anyway, very cool watching the video from New Jersey and can always share with you my old E Bay Del Sol purchases and tweaks after the SI.... Ahh to be young again... LOL

Congrats! It’s about time! I’ve been following your channel since you’ve been looking for your Type R. Nothing like getting a strong whiff of that factory smell.
Now that you’ve got one, get rid of the rubber band tires and wheels and contact Thomson at System Motorsports. Grab a set of 18s and some Michelin Pilot Sport 4S’s. Do it when you get back to CA- You’ll thank me later!
In the meantime, drive safely back to CA and I hope you make it back on those OEM wheels and tires. Remember there is no spare in the trunk- only a flat fix it kit.
