I’m a fan of bronze wheels on the black Type R. I don’t have an actual wheel recommendation. So many good ones. I would suggest 18” with tire size 245/40R18 to stay true to OEM diameter. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is absolutely the best choice.
NSX Y spokes - All you need to know. 19" with ET55. Its very close to factory wheel offset and they're not as expensive as you think I got mine for about $625/wheel including shipping. Do it!!
Thanks for allowing us to follow you on your cross country journey back to CA! About the black paint, I know this will run your budget through the roof if you have it done at a shop but a ceramic coat and paint correction should be in your Top 5 upgrades needed on your Type R. It was for mine (actually #3 only list). Tint was the first thing I had done on my R but glad you had yours done already. Glad you’re strongly considering to ceramic coat and perform a paint correction. Upgrade the wheels/tires afterwards. Put together a needs vs. wants list to help ease the conscience. I think those other upgrades would be nice to add towards the summer time. Look into the Gram Lights 57DRs 18x9.5 like what I have. Hook up with Thomson at System Motorsports and see what he has in stock. I had to wait a few months for mine but he may have something in stock for you. Enjoy a nice drive over to the East Bay to Hayward and pick them up from his warehouse to save some money on shipping. Really nice guy and easy to work with. Slap on a current promo code and you can get them for around 1700. Let every other upgrade fall in place after that. I think America’s Tire has a promo on Michelin’s right now. Also see if you can use a military discount for more savings as well! Do everything slowly but surely and within reason. Every little thing you add to your car is like a painter taking every stroke with the brush and then ending up with a masterpiece work of art after all is said and done!
General AS 255/35/20 tires fit perfectly on the fk8. They absorb the potholes well too. I got a set from discount tire from $730ish. Well worth it to me. You won't even have to spend the money on wheels, save it for other mods.

Super lightweight bronze wheels so that you can be quicker. Going below 20 wheels may throw off the geometry of the type r from factory. I believe the 20 wheels are meant to help fight torque steer.
Going down to 18’s will probably give you a larger selection of wheels to choose from, and they’d most likely weigh less than the 19’s. The increased sidewall will improve the ride and offer a bit more cushion when you hit those bumps & potholes. That being said, you’ll also probably see a slight increase in understeer, and the car will probably not feel as “sharp” as it does with the 19’s. 19’s should also do a better job of managing tire temperatures, especially when pushing the car hard.
I personally went with the ce28sl. 18x9.5 44 offset. I could only find them in "takata green" so I had them powder coated satin black and I love the look! I feel 18s subdue the look and the ce28sl still give it that Japanese style. Offset is very important in terms of handling and torque steer. From what I understand you need 45 or higher offset to not reintroduce torque steer. I could only find that rim in 44 but its close enough and the torque steer I've noticed has been barely noticeable. Plus its a smoother ride and I don't cringe on potholes. I feel like it pulls better too bc they are the lightest wheels on the market to my knowledge.
They are pricey but some nice wheels are Advan RS2s. Also if you end up getting that AWE exhaust you are going to love it. By far some of the nicest sounding exhausts available. I was tossed on whether to get the MAPerformance street exhaust or the AWE touring one for my Si and ended up going AWE and I don’t regret it.

For wheels Enkei Kojin look super sick especially on the type r, get with an offset below 30 for some nice concavity, plus the 5 spoke shows off the brembos more 😍
Titan 7 TS5 18*9.5 bronze are dope on the black! I have them on my 18 R. On 265/35/18 RE-71R Bridgestone. My care still on stock suspension so the tire fills up gap between fender and tire. Alot more peace of mind getting of stocks. The titans are forge rims for a decent price. I would get the Michelin 4s tires on any rim you get if you don't plan on tracking the car much

Yeah, I like TE37’s, but they seem to be the sponsored wheel for the Type R. I wanted something a little different, so I’m going with the Enkei TS-5’s in 18x9.5 5x120 45mm.
Get Cquartz UK for ceramic. It’s fantastic and consumer grade. I install that at work and it’s a fantastic coating! We even have finest reserve which is tough to get, but i prefer UK The shop is called Carguys in northern indiana! Id be happy to help with tips. Love the vids!

One and Only is terrible, and a cheeseburger isn't barbecue! It's smoked pork or nothing man! Sorry you missed out :/
Lol i will learn from my mistakes and never do it again! And next time brother
I literally laughed out loud at the one and only BBQ saying it was the worst. And then the text messages being read back. Lolol 🤣🤣
The shift boot collar is common on those 9th gens. Acuity makes an aluminum one that won't sag
Gratz on the black R, should do a video on proper paint correction. Drive safe!
We even have finest reserve which is tough to get, but i prefer UK
The shop is called Carguys in northern indiana! Id be happy to help with tips. Love the vids!
Great vid. Awaiting delivery of my 21 Reg racing blue Pearl. Greetings from the uk. Keep up the content bud
Get advan rg2 or 3 it looks good on black and I have it on my 10th gen civic. It looks sharp it matches my crystal pearl black. My color of the rg 2 is a bronze color kind of gold but I would recommend it's very lightweight it handles perfectly but it's my recommendation.
Michellen pilot sport 4s are amazing. Very little road noise and they have good grip.
So i ordered some 19” wheels which will be delivered later this week. Can’t say what they are as i am saving it for my video reveal for my channel. But i highly recommend them😉. Drive safe my brotha!
I check in frequently and I have to say, it's amazing seeing you in the Type R you've always wanted! Big happy and jealous! xD Hope to see this thing do some pulls, but even more so on a track turning laps!
Thanks! lots of good content lined up
Hey for ceramic coating you should go with Gtechniq CSL+evov4. Look up obsesses garage. I’ve learned a lot from that channel.
I own a rebuilt title 2014 civic si. Best car I've owned
Congrats bro,I am currently an 2020 STI owner and considering to get an FK8 again if I am settle down in US,owning those JDM car is my dream,by the way,it seemed like FK8 have way better cruising experience than my STI😂😂
I am beyond excited for you getting your type R brother!! You deserve it so much!! I can’t wait for the incredible content!! Travel safe my friend!!
Put "type r" in all the video names, so that the people searching find them for sure
Crap! i thoughy I did! Thanks Audrey
Avid1 AV6 wheels would fit that so well!! I'm running them on my hatch. 18x9.5 +38 gloss black
Rear windshield wipers are on the right stick halfway in, twist up and down.
Rear wipers are pointless.
Super pumped to see you with this thing man, seems like it's been a long time coming! Probably gonna be my next car since I've had 3 mazdaspeeds I need something fresher
Thank you. the MS3s are nice, but go find a used R to test drive!
I have VMR v705 18x9.5 +33 with 255/40/18 on stock suspension no issues for the past 3 yrs
Congratulations. A INVESTMENT! Dude, you got a Type R , a head turner. I have 2020 blue Civic SI. Enjoy your journey brother. Take it easy. Be safe. 🙏💯💪😁
had no idea you had a 1st gen black tC. bought my 1st gen 09 tC release series new 12 years ago, still driving it. it's slow but a 2dr hatch w/3 pedals feels nearly extinct now. i really like the type R but i don't want a 4-door.. veloster N may get my money when i upgrade, idk. fun to watch your videos, keep it up.
as a pretty loyal follower I'm saying the titan7 wheels for type r have ti be top 3 best looking!!
Thank you, Carson. A lot of people have said to go with those as well. Im going to give them a hard look
Titan-7 forged wheels are way too good of a bargain ($2k) and the T-S5 looks great.
Everytime I get a new, fast car, it rains....And it's awesome you got your dream car. Some twisty backroad vids would be nice.
