I completely agree with your statement. I believe that true cars are powered by gasoline rather than electricity, and the reason is that electric cars produce a buzzing sound while gasoline cars produce a roaring sound like a beast. You are truly an amazing person who loves cars.
I’ve got a 4RS coming in late august, and I just wanted to take a second and thank you for the level of detail mentioned in this video regarding basic daily normal driving. You’ve earned yourself a subscriber!
"Just taking the piss here..." 🤣 This is what I love about your reviews Paul! I'm glad I put my headphones on, because the engine sounds unbelievably in-sane! What an amazing speed machine! Thanks Paul!
Hi Paul. A great review. I am one of the fortunate few that do have one of these cars in my garage, however I love to drive it, which means I do drive it as often as I can. Everything about this car is why I love driving… the looks, the sounds, and the handling. It is the perfect package (according to me). I have however found one major problem with the car… …every time I return home and get out of the car, I just want to get straight back in it and go for another drive. It’s just so damn addictive.
I'ma be real, I just have a 718 GTS 4.0 and it's so insane that this is now my dream car. I used to really want a GT3 or GT3RS, but man.. I love my 718 GTS 4.0 SO MUCH, I don't think I'll ever get a 911.
This is such an amazing car ❤️ I love Porsche for doing this! ❤️ This 982 Chassis and that MA2.75 engine is just a killer combination! 🧐🔥 I would love for the suspension to be softer because it looks very hard in the video (or for there to be a softer, road going version of this car with this engine) but this one of the best cars of our era 🧐
Great review, especially the sound! I get a huge grin driving my 981 GTS, so I understand what got you buzzing so much. Loved the reverse gear insanity too.
That particular type of Schroth harness is specifically designed for use with SIMPSON/HANS device. Also the seat belt warning goes off automatically after a minute or so. 9000 RPM rev limit has been around since 2014 in 991.1 GT3 and onwards 991.2 GT3 (moved to shimmed engine), 991.2 GT3 RS, 992 GT3 and 992 GT3 RS. The gearing and PDK programming is from the 991.2 GT3 RS. The six best mainstream hard tops Porsche have produced are the 981 GTS (with PTV), 981 GT4, 982 718 GTS, 718 GT4 RS, 996.2 GT3 and 991.2 GT3 RS. Note four of those have between 335BHP and 395BHP and all are NA. The best ragtops Porsche have produced are the 981 Boxster GTS (with PTV), 718 Boxster GTS and 718 Spyder. All three ragtops are NA. Out of eleven cars listed only 2 are 911s. 😇
@@kidomark3819 That specific Schroth harness is designed to use with any HANS or Simpson system - the Simpson system is by far the best and safest as it allows sideways movement for better visibility and it also protects for side to side movement as well as front to back. Harnesses have to meet a variety of specification as do head and neck restraint systems in order to be used in Motorsport. The point being a schroth belt system that is designed be used with a HANS device really shouldn’t be used in isolation. The wide belts can be used in isolation but are a pita to use with HANS devices. The chime is gone in less than the time it takes to do a warm up lap, it’s sufficiently irritating it should be possible to kill it altogether.
@@kidomark3819 Well mate, you have one head - its up to you to know/learn how to protect it. But sounds like you want to find out the hard way. Good luck enjoy the car.
Hi Paul, I'm not buying a GT4 RS and instead will purchase a 2007 Toyota corolla. The reason is that the toyota is $3000 while the GR4 RS is 400,000, just outside my price range.
Gentian Blue all day. If I was spending over 350K I'd have no issue spending another 6 fort that colour. Perfect balance between light and navy blue, just right.
Great review. Any Cayman is an awesome drive. I would take PDK because of launch control. Heck even in my base 981 PDK launch control is so much fun. However I couldn’t live with no front sensors as the system on my car works so well. I would consider upgrading a base 718 if sound wasn’t an issue or a GT4. There are some awesome examples at the moment close to GT3 performance . If I was ordering the GT4 RS I would get the R spec tyre option even if supply was an issue. However I would prefer TrofeoR as these are reasonable if you encounter any wet or damp sections of road. Love how they retained the cup holders.
Hi Paul! I'm a bit of a function-over-form guy, so I'd be buying a regular GT4 instead. Manual transmission, sure the engine isn't as insane, but it still revs to like 8000... GT3 and GT4 offer the best balance between road and track car. I like to have the fantasy of having enough money for one of these one day, and I think the GT4 RS just goes too insane in the quest for lap-times. Like, if I had the money, I just don't see the point in paying the exorbitant amount for an essentially track-only car. Race cars should be your own, really your own, like the ones they build on Gears and Gasoline. Just my opinion, I'm just a guy.
I’ve driven pretty much anything from Porsche 912, via Tesla Plaid and every generation 911 Turbo to Ferrari SF90 Stradale and can testify that nothing comes close to the insanity of the GT4RS. It’s not the fastest, most tech laden or most expensive car out there, but it’s the most insane one. Nothing comes close. The normal GT4 didn’t really get me going, especially the 718 GT4. The GT4RS makes the 992GT3 just feel plain boring. I’ll reserve judgement of the 992GT3RS until I’ve driven it, but I know for a fact it’ll not sound as good as the GT4RS, and I suspect the trick aero and underpinnings take away much of the playfulness and courage you need to drive the GT4RS. It’s already a classic and will be a good investment.
@@RRSmurf he said the car has no real competitors. I would say if in in the market to buy a sports car like the Cayman, whether or not it has special bits, I am definitely ALSO going to be looking at the Lotus. It IS a competitor. The same way water is wet.

The best Cayman is not the fastest neither the most powerful but yes the rarest and obviously it is not made anymore: it is the 981 GT4. 982 GT4 RS (sod off the 718 moniker Porsche): too radical and very much for the track almost only; 982 GT4? Nope - diluted compared to a 981 GT4 (intentionally done to give space to the GT4 RS...) and vulgar: building numbers still rising prove it. The 981 GT4 takes it: special, rarest and with the right dose of rawness. The door handle strap is the ultimate WANK. Any five foot man buying something as hideous as this is not going to be making better times cos he has no door handles.😅
What a car, especially in this day and age. The sound alone👌

How fast do you have to go before you would call it 'too fast'?
Anything that does 10 second quarters or faster I find to be above my “average ish” skill level on road or track. Gt4 RS is on the cusp.
