Here’s the recipe The ingredients is a whole chicken, large pot of water, two or three small onions, four ounces of ginger, 2 ounces of rock sugar, 2 tbsp fish sauce, 2 tsp salt ( I always adjust amount according to my taste preference with salt and fish sauce) and in my spice bag is fennel seeds, coriander seeds, Star anise, cinnamon stick and cardamom. Bring heat to high, cover with a lid, bring down to medium low and cook for 45 to an hour minutes. Adding quail eggs is optional, but highly recommended if you can find it. Cook rice noodles in boiling water for 45 seconds and rinse under cold water immediately. Garnish with cilantro, green onions, jalapeño, Thai basil and a fresh squeeze of lemon or lime juice. For condiments add chili garlic oil, hoisin and sriracha
I love the Vietnamese people and the food because its so much like Thai. I met a Vietnamese family years ago and the invited me and my family over for a meal. They were so hospitable and kind with so much great food to eat. I have never forgotten them and that day.
@@Johanlob1it is close... because most vietnamese that came over to US or Australia are from south vietnam. South vietnamese food is more flavourful in term of sweetness as compared to North. Also south vietnamese add more basil in their food such as Pho, saigon style has basil but north all they eat is green onions and pickled garlic like the chinese. Also Thai and Vietnamese usually live together in same community in Sydney Australia. You can find Thai and Vietnamese stores sell the same deserts and drinks like durian shakes sugar cane juice, or green mango fruits. So that person is partly correct.
I normally don't put any fish sauce in chicken pho but if you must have it, you can put fish sauce at the end because the broth tends to get a lil sour when you reheat it the next day.
I made this tonight for dinner (inspired by you.) My kids- the pickiest eaters- and I LOVED it!!! This will be a permanent fixture in our dinners from now on! Thank you!
I was like mmmm yummy then I just busted out laughing as your daughter walked in the background 😂😂😂😂 after that I am sorry but all I could do was giggle! I had to watch your short like 6 times hahahaha😅
Made it and it's a game changer I added fresh baby spinach and shredded carrots before I poured the broth in still bubbling my goodness what meal. I froze the chicken in the broth for a lunch down the road. I'll have this again once the weather cools a bit more. Thanks for sharing this.
You have to make indonesian Soto Ayam its like a chicken soup using the same noodle and lots of indonesian herbs (ginger, challots, garlic, tumeric, lemongrass, lime leave) very good dish and comfort food too❤
Looks delicious! I love pho but have never made it because I've heard it takes all day lol. I love how you said it takes an hour or theres an instant pot version too.
Love your show. Tried your recipes, absolutely delicious and easy to follow. I’ve also lost 12 pounds. Thank you I’m Polish, Spanish, Mexican, and French so I love what you prepare and I particularly like this video cause maybe it was your daughter in the background but she was so cute like oops I better get out of this place quickly.😊😊😊
Oooooh! Delicious! I only have bean sprouts when I have company otherwise there are too many when I buy them and they go to waste. Sad because I do like them, just can’t use them up fast enough.
Home girl in the back scared me. lol. I need to go to sleep. Btw I made your rotisserie chicken version the other day and it was FIRE! I was able to give my sis some leftovers and it helped her cold 🤙🏾 Question do you wash and reuse spice bags or toss them? That was the first time I’ve ever used one…
My seafood and fish allergy self knows I'm missing out on that umani of no fish sauce. I miss my friends brother that used to make it for me. That and Vietnamese beef stew.
