    I don't see the cost increase justification here. Our 2018 Suburban was almost fully loaded when I bought it new, and I got out the door with it for $52k cash. Been an enjoyable beast of a family hauler for my wife as we have 4 young kids. It also tows my 6,000 Lb. TT and all our camping gear with absolute ease and control. Great truck!

      Exactly i was playing around with the configurator and it wasn’t worth it. In fact most of these new trucks are not worth it. Only the ranger raptor and lexus gx base models were worth the price.

  • @jpullen581
    @jpullen581 2 дні тому +16

    A base Tahoe was only $35k 5 years ago. How in the world are they justifying a 175% increase in the MSRP? It's nowhere near the rate of inflation, and only speaks/shows to the greed of GM. This is all while moving production to Mexico and or cutting lines to artificially short supply. The reason nobody is buying these house priced vehicles is that they aren't worth it and nobody wants a mortgage on something that will ALWAYS loose value. Oh, and lets not discuss the recalls that all car manufacturers have out now. Yeesh. It's an expensive ticking timebomb.

    • @is6566
      @is6566 2 дні тому +4

      The base price now is $60k. That is NOT 175% INCREASE but a 72% increase. It’s still expensive but you are off by a multiplier.

      @supporterofsanity There is always one of these guys in the comments who looks at a fully loaded vehicle and then compares it to the base price of some other vehicle. At least we are sticking with Tahoes this time, but some of the price comparisons I have seen are completely wild. "You want THAT for a fully loaded Hummer, I could buy 3 model 3s for that price!" As if the Hummer EV and Tesla Model 3 are even remotely comparable.

      Premium is recommended for these, but NOT required. My grandad has a 2023 Suburban High Country with the same 6.2 v8, and he runs it on 87 octane without any issue. The 6.2 L87 (and L86 by extension) V8 was basically a detuned LT1 with a truck style intake that was designed to handle 87 Octane since most people were likely going to run them on that to save money, but Chevrolet does recommend premium fuel in these for max performance.

    No ordinary working Joe can’t afford to buy a vehicle that is $84,000. And for that matter as a pensioner, I certainly could not afford it. And I make a hell of a good pension! Probably more than the average working stiff that is working. And on top of that you’ll get literally 1970/80 MPG, if that! There is no level of comfort and smoothness that can justify spending that much money for a vehicle in our current financial situation in this country or in Canada. Obviously, Canadian prices are higher, of course.

    Great video Jen! As for the Tahoe? No, it costs WAY too much! These manufacturers have gotten away from what made them famous and successful. Combined that with greed, and the average person can't afford a new Tahoe. A base model Tahoe should be $40k, not $56k. I won't be buying one.

    That's kind of weird. I had never liked any girl TFL brought before. But I have no problem with Jenn. I actually like her. :-) I think we will keep her. :-)

    I think the “best” iteration of the Tahoe is like the finest wine made in Wyoming - not good at all.

    It’s expensive but when consider your options that have that have a V8 and that much horsepower, it starts to look like a bargain.

    "Jan, can you open the third garage door so I can swap out the 22's on the Tahoe for the offroad tires?"..... So tired of manufacturers (and UA-camrs) talking about offroad capabilities of SUVs unless it's the unpaved path on your 14 acres to the dock to launch your pontoon boat.

      @ I mean - the fact is the Tahoe depreciates far more than an Ascent, Highlander, Pilot or Sequoia at 5 years. I enjoyed the Tahoe as a rental, but it's a stupid purchase new.
