“Push with the next contraction” I just about died laughing!!!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
should blind fold her guys 😊😊
Yer she gave birth to a Craigie boy
As if a man knows about the pain of the contractions. They have this device that they hook up to men sometimes. It simulates the pain of a period. Every man hooked up to this device screams. I look at it as justice. lol
😂😂😂
I had to go back a couple seconds, although i did get the overall message the first time I watched that portion since my brain instantly went to childbirth directions. 😂😂
(Sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense. It's late where I am and I have adhd🙃)
As Craig and then Graeme were leaning on her, I kept thinking "This would be a terrible time for a Code Brown..."
Same 😂!
I was thinking the same thing ... But also thought a Code Yellow would be pretty be ad too!
Me too!!😂😂😂
Was thinking same thing 😂😂😂😂😂
me too! 🤣
2:38 I just heard my 17 year old’s voice yell, “Push Craig! You Got This!” 😂
Was so hoping she didn’t have to “go” while he was pushing.
@@deborahgallagher-vu5hlI was thinking the same thing! I was totally expecting to hear Graeme to yell, “Code Brown!”
😂😂😂
🤣🤣
😂
Oh that little calf was too cute! The pretty moo who got her hooves trimmed had such a perfect love heart on her face 💜
I love how you called her a moo. ❤
SHOW US MORE CALVES
Indeed that heart on her forehead was perfect, she sure was a sweetheart. Hope she feels better now! ❤
My mom will be turning 70 in about 3 weeks. A few weeks ago she told me she has been watching hoof trimming videos. I introduced her to your channel. She has been watching all your videos. She also bought your book for us to read.
Both her moms (bio and godmother) passed away a year ago and it has taken a full year for her to come start coming out of her depression from the grief. Your videos have brought her a lot of joy the last couple months. Thank you! ❤
I'm glad your mum has found something to lift her out of her depression and helps her on the road to recovery ❤
@@MsKatana1973me to, from Massachusetts. 🌹 🌹 🌹 💐, Theresa. God bless you. My mom is 93. Acts like she is 25 and sassy like her granddaughter who is 32. 😂❤
I plan on purchasing the book for me. My mom would cry. Too emotional.
I’m 75 and I loved the book. Highly recommend and I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.
@ Thank you. Her childhood home was Altadena and the house she grew up in was in the burn zone. She has really been struggling again.
I always appreciate that you take the time to point out the ways these sorts of things can happen even with the best and most attentive farmers. It can be really easy to see something like this as an uneducated person and assume that the cow was neglected and the way you highlight both the care and the natural behavior in the video is always something I appreciate.
Exactly. I learned that it can happen just by cows being cows. Which ironically is what many people are unhappy about, thinking that the cows aren't allowed to be cows.
I agree. I appreciate how he educates us on why he's doing something or how something happened.
Should make playlists of long recovery cows so we can rewatch the whole story beginning to fully healed
He does
Great idea.
It seems to me this would be a perfect application for one of those full face shields. Open on the sides and bottom, but would block any squirty juices or any dust from the grinder.
That sounds like an amazing idea, like watching Gracie.😊😊
The *tsk* of pressure relief was SO rewarding to hear! Glad you were able to help her!
Also the banter towards Craig is so funny! 😂
That was fun seeing the real struggle of getting cows into the crush. I can imagine the daily trouble it creates for you! Cows and new stuff don't mix, especially when they're distressed from some other reason
Definitely worst ever!
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮❤
American RN here. I was wondering if you ever suggest to the farmer to give the anti inflammatory injection the day before your visit for the cows with significant limping to decrease the pain during your treatment. If the farmer knows it’s an abscess and cow will need antibiotics, he could start that the day before you come to get a start on killing the bacteria. I’m just wondering. Thanks for the kind and compassionate way you treat the cows. They make wonderful milk and ice cream.
He can't, the vet or farmer has to make that call
In most country that somethhing only a vet can do and only does it after the cow is treated
They usually do hon. Most are on lame watch so first call is jabs for 3 days before they put through stress of catching for assessment. Also being very cautious with meds while nursing new calfs. It's a good call though as pre poke pain relief does help.
@@helenaalexandra4197she asked if he would ever suggest the anti-inflammatory to the farmer. She didn’t ask if he would do it himself. There isn’t a law against a suggestion.😊
I wonder if the farmer would say no because this cow is pregnant. I guess it depends on what kind of cow it is.
The wee heart ❤️ on her heid is adorable! Thanks for helping this girl, even if she's still sore right now im sure she'll appreciate the hrlp you've given in the next couple of days x
Do you remember that whole conversation (I feel like it was yesterday?) where you said you don't wear face shields because you never get it in your eye. I believe you just Jinxed yourself. 5:41 I believe you got it in your eye.
I think he got fluid in his eye. The fluid from the hoof cavity. He said "it stinks".
Definitely got stuff in his face that might not have been there. Though, he normally doesn't where the shield when he's doing knife work anyway.
I could definitely hear the difference as the hoof was tapped. Reminded me of the way you check the seal on canning jars after they are processed. Tap with a spoon. Sealed jars go “plink” and bad seals go “thunk”.
I would never have imagined myself watching some guy in Scotland trim cow hooves. I’m so glad I happened across this channel. I love it.
Greetings & best wishes from Indiana, USA 🇺🇸
Hello Graeme, Craig & all my friends in "the herd," I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
💚 🐄 🧡 🐂 💚
I hope you do as well 💙
Poor mama, she's a beauty with that perfect heart on her forehead.
🤍
She wasn't pregnant, but in the hospital pen with other mama's & their calves
I'm making a gingerbread house with my cousin and her kids next weekend. I might try to pick up some Hoof Grip Pro to glue the biscuits together. 😆
😂🤣😁
🙃🤭🤪
Graeme will basically taste anything that comes out off a cow, but he hasn't tasted the glue on cam yet. Really dubious, be careful!
Now I am imagining these guys making gingerbread houses and getting out the grinder to trim the parts
@@ottokarl5427 I'll make him a gingerbread crush.
Awe, bless that poor cow…yes could very well hear the difference on the tapping. She will be feeling so much better after your professional care of her problem.
That cow reminds me of a story my Mom told me of her show cow when she was in her late teens. My Mom’s cow was named Sweetpea and while she was an amazing show cow and the top producer on my grandparents dairy farm she had a tendency to be a bit stubborn. One day as my mom was getting home from school she noticed that the hoof trimmers were having a hard time getting one of the cows down the race and into their crush and after taking a closer look she realized the cow they were struggling with was her cow Sweetpea. My mom then grabbed a handful of hay and went back out to where the hoof trimmers were having absolutely no luck getting Sweetpea to move and asked the hoof trimmers to stop trying to push her so my mom could try to get her to move and sure enough once they stopped pushing on her my mom showed Sweetpea the hay and started calling her to come to her Sweetpea walked right down the race and into the crush while giving the hoof trimmers a dirty look like she was saying “If you had just asked me nicely I would have walked right in”. After that whenever she needed to be trimmed my mom or my grandparents made sure to leave the hoof trimmers a halter so they could just lead her into the crush.
Fun story. Sweetpea had a good personality but expect politness. LOL
I think everyone's mom has had a cow named sweetpea, apparently a good name lol
❤❤❤
The marking on that cow’s forehead looks like a heart! Wishing her a speedy recovery and for her to be comfortable and pain free soon enough
You could tell she wasn't impressed by poor Craig pushing her, she even tried a little kick but clearly the pain was too much on her front foot to actually kick out properly, so glad you found the issue and she's now on the right track 🥰
did you notice her beautiful heart head stamp? she's so cute. I really hope she gets some relief. 🥰
@@locabynature she is adorable, but I love cows they are so sweet 🥰
I can't hardly stand to watch anyone else trimming. You give so much information, I feel like I could do a pretty decent trim myself. Thank you for sharing
I watch these videos, wincing with every slice of the knife, letting out my breath once the infection is exposed - who knew a city girl like me would be so involved with these videos? Thank you, Graeme, Craig, and the rest of the Herd, for giving me something positive to watch on the internet!
When I first started watching, Graeme's hair was a huge curly mop, which I loved! But I'm sure he prefers his current, more manageable style!
Loved the tag teaming! 👍❤️
I loved his long curls.
It was also bright red.
Probably got tired of washing poo out of it every day!
@@BabalonNuit That’s not poo. It’s white blood cells from pussie infections. Or, maybe a mix. But fertilizer is good for the scalp and hair growth. L’Oréal uses both in their hair products. 😉
2:30... Was anyone else waiting for a code brown while he was back there pushing? I'm glad it didn't. But that would have made great UA-cam watching
Thank goodness you were able to help this cow. Look forward in seeing the results in a few weeks.
Well, I got today years old when I learned, that vanilla cream filled pastry isn't the first choice meal when watching this kind of videos.
Sorry, LMAO!
600-700kg. I am always amazed by how big these holstein fresians are. Every time I'm near one, it always stuns me.
Though these ones do seem shorter than some of the ones here in Aus - they're walking on stilts I swear, their legs are so long.
(Fun fact for folks, ~16% of their body weight is just rumen contents. The rumen itself takes up around 80% of their abdominal cavity and holds around 80L. They eat huge amounts of food, which is part of the reason they have such big environmental impacts.
It is such an amazing org,an to see, though I don't think everyone would find it such an honour to see - I'm a vet student though, so it's right in my wheel-house)
Or 1300-1500:pounds for some of us
@foolishlyfoolhardy6004
That is very interesting. Thanks for sharing!

I've been watching your videos for 2 years plus and I must say the cows in south West Scotland are very lucky to have you as their hoof trimmer oh by the way am from Blackpool
I couldn't help but laugh when Gream was telling Craig when the next contraction comes to push 😂😂 I've been through the pain of child birth and let me say it wasn't easy but it's amazing that he can joke about it seeing as he has kids if his own, love your videos Gream or more commonly known as the HGP❤

I had the same thoughts and almoust fell off the sofa bc of laughing 😂😂😂
Greetings from Michigan, USA. 🇺🇸 Seeing there is a new Hoof GP video is the highlight of our YT day.
Thank you for bringing us along with you as you care for the herd.
I used to live in several places in Michigan hi 👋
Michigan here, too!
Poor sweetie. Hopefully she’s healing up nicely.
Yes, I can definitely hear the difference. The outer claw sounded solid, and the inner claw sounded hollow. She was in so much pain. She reminds me of my daughter, who is very strong-willed. One day, I finally just looked at her and said, 'You are strong-willed, but so am I, and I will be stronger willed than you, so we might as well do what I say.' It worked. Her and I get along great. She comes by it honestly.
9:17 she has a perfect heart on her forehead ❤
1:20 is an awesome view. 😊
She is so pretty! And you are a Godsend to these beautiful creatures. Love this channel.
Thank you so much for helping that poor lady cow. I also feel for them. 👵🏻🤗🤗🐄🐄
I have nothing to do with Cows but I found your channel an have followed along for a very long time now it's so nice to see how you help take such good care of these cows :)
Hi Graham, I just wanted to tell you that I appreciate what you do in all aspects with the work you do to the videos! I just watched a video from I think about 3 years ago and you asked who you are and where you’re watching from. Well I am watching from Edmonton 🇨🇦, I have 4 teenage daughters and my amazing wife! I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2021 and after chemo and radiation and surgery in October 2022, as I was recovering I found you on Facebook and have been watching you ever since and had to tell you I love watching your videos, my cancer came back earlier this year and is terminal and your candidness and your videos have given me some peace and learning about you and your story has help me at times! So keep up the awesomeness and I will keep watching! Thank you!
So sorry to hear about your health issues. Hoping and praying for the best for y'all.
- your neighbor to the south
What a lovely heart on her forehead. Now I know how you get code brown smears on your back.
And, it is a perfectly shaped ❤ too…
It’s like finding a stud in drywall! It sounds different tapping on hallow space vs a stud.
That poor little cow. You can feel that pain. And you can hear the difference in the sounds - pretty big infection. :( So freaking glad that gunk ‘got gone’ ! You did a great job. :) ☀️🐄🌷🌱
Aw - she’s such a pretty girl. Look at that lovely little face. 🌼
Anyone who thinks that dairy farmers are coercing the cows into a milking parlor should watch the first few minutes of this video. There's no way that a farmer is going to do that for a few hundred cows twice a day. You are not going to move a cow without her consent unless it's with a fork lift or front end loader.
On the contrary...milk cows are more than eager to go in & get milked. Just imagine what it would feel like if you had to pee & couldn't by yourself (at least not enough to really help) & had to wait for someone to come relieve you of your distress. My Grandmother's cows would stand there & cuss you out if they thot you weren't moving fast enough...😆
While I don't doubt it, but isn't it also easier to do that movement with multiple cows instead of one? Because they are herd-animals and want to be with their herds. I think Graeme once said "cows love nothing more than to walk in a line".
Where does a 600lb cow go? Where ever she wants to.
@@ottokarl5427 no doubt. It was more in reference to some of the more...extreme...animal rights folks who insist that everything about the dairy industry is akin to slavery, and cows are forced to do everything against their will and nature. Normally cows are rather chill with the whole process which is the only reason that the process works
@@lloydnsarahsheffer3802 They just need a Craig and Graeme for the difficult cows
You popped up on my feed and I am so glad I found you. I’m an American hobby farmer of small mixed breed pigs. I started learning about hoof care decades ago with my elderly rescue horse and it has expanded to all sorts of rescued livestock.
Welcome!
She should be nicknamed “Sweetheart!”
She has the sweetest countenance AND she has a heart shape on her forehead!
I hope she gets lots of “sweet talk!” 🥰🎄💗
Great content, making the lives of these wonderful animals better.
I have mental health problems but watch this video some how help me
I am seriously struggling too right now, to even stay here. Love the cows.
I think it’s the sheer joy Graeme has doing this work. I’m on meds, he cheers me up, too. I’m sure you’re getting help - we wouldn’t be good without it :) ☀️🌷🌱
@@karenglenn6707 hi Karen - sometimes things really get stuck, it’s so hard to feel like you’ll ever feel better, but we do have better times. if you get really down, try watchin’ a bunch of these shows. They really help - and he’s really so enthusiastic.
I don’t know if you’re aware, but Graeme is bipolar and had a very hard time with it. . . (I actually spent the money for his audiobook. To hear about his life in his own voice makes it so much more real :)
Have a good holiday season 🌲🌺🕯️
I also am in an extremely hard time right now. This is something I can just get lost in. The boys being so close and joking is a big part of helping so much. It helps so much seeing his positive attitude and motivation. I wish I could afford his book.
You're not the only one who finds the videos somehow soothing or calming. I think it's their happiness with life and seeing the cows feel better. Graeme has a nice voice for voice over too.
192 has the sweetest eyes and a perfect heart on her forehead!
Why does she have a red band around her tail? Gee, Graeme, you just said yesterday (on the video from yesterday) that you don't wear protection because nothing ever gets in your eyes...that was a fair splash!! Poor girl...looking forward to seeing the improvement in 5 weeks!!
Probably to mark her as 'injured'. They noticed her limp, marked her quick, then they couldn't lose her again.
Her milks no good they have on meds and antibiotics probably
@@jennyanswer42Did I hear that she was pregnant ? Maybe that’s the reason for the mark?
Red band means cow is on antibiotics and milk can not by used
@@joobdo Thank you!! Heard that on a subsequent video, but I certainly appreciate you letting me know...I might have missed that video!!
She is such a sweer lass!
I love the heart on her forehead.
I hope she feels better in the next day or so,
and look forward to the update.
Love the little calf
poor girl it sucks to be in pain
You ROCK Craigie Boy!!!
The heart shaped white marking on her face is so cute!
I felt her pain!! Poor love!! I am glad you lot are there for her.
4:57 - the difference in tapping sound is clear, even on recording
I just stopped at 4:59 to say the same thing.
I imagine this hoof does not smell like a rose garden. Strong stomach required for this job. As usual GP, well done.
Aww she has a perfect heart on her face
You are wonderful for these cows. I wish for a world where all cattle are taken care of properly. Keep being fabulous!
You can definitely tell once you released the pressure the cow stopped whincing. Clearly that provided instant pain relief getting that released.
Everyone needs a good coworker like Craig. We should all strive to be like him. Good job all of you!
What is the decision making process for using
a) Iodine spray (red)
or
b) Antibiotic spray (green)
Iodine dries up a lesion and the green kills bacteria?
I'm guessing the aspirin type powder or Salicylic acid in the wrap reduces inflammation?
Just asking.
You're correct about the sprays. Salicylic acid also dries out the tissue and is used when you need the drying out process to last longer than it would with iodine alone, and/or when you just need to wrap the claw to protect it.
@@-Devy- Thank you!

I stand corrected by I think there's a video about the crush, look at the play list maybe?
2:12 "when the next contraction comes, push!" 😂😂
I just had this on in the background as I play halo 3 and I had to do a double take when I heard that.
Poor 192. I hope she feels better soon.
This cow has the most perfect heart on her forehead
She really acts like it gave her relief when the pressure released.
Oh, the marking on the front of her head is in the shape of a heart.
Craig is the reason I watch this channel. He is the guy behind the scene that keeps the workflow moving so the glamor shots can happen. I believe these guys play for some Scottish rugby team and do the cow thing in their spare time.
192 has a beautiful white heart on her face 💙💙💙
After trimming 56 cows I would look a lot more tired. You are an amazing person with your team helping to keep cows comfortable and healthy. Love your advice.

Craig is the man!! When the next contraction comes just push push lol epic.
God bless you for being so wonderfully skilled; but also intuitive to what is going on.

Blessing to you big fella!!!
And BTW, it's a bloody good owner/manager who twigs to those sorts of things, and gets it taken care of. Very well done, also. Much respect.
Well Graeme , Craig did most of the work getting the cow in 😊
The ❤ on her head is so adorable. I love how you educate us in every video on why you do certain things. It's really amazing work you do and you clearly have a great deal of knowledge and care so much for the animals you work on. Do you ever work on animals other than cows? Good thing there wasn't a code brown when you were trying to get that cow in the crush
I am fascinated by these videos. I think one reason is that he reminds me of my son. Even looks like him, his insistent talking, his humor, his seriousness of his job and he’s care for others. Humans and animals. 😊
Hey, G. Curious if you’ve ever cut or injured yourself during a pull through towards you with the sharp knives? I know I’ve poked myself a few times doing much less😂
I'm so glad you are helping. Walking looked so painful going into the crush, but which is why she didn't want to go into.
