I've never understood why this is controversial. I've been saved for 30+ years. It never even occurred to me that it was so controversial until the internet came along and I started seeing all the confusion/controversy and even anger from some people. The bottom line is, it's a miracle He chooses anyone at all. We ALL deserve hell!

God said in 2 Peter 3:9 that He doesn't want anyone to perished, yet He is choosing? That make God a liar. RC was trying to uphold God's justice but forgot about the love of God. God is omniscient, if He knows ahead of time that there will be no savior He will not create anything. This was already answered in John 1:3. We cannot uphold one character of God and not the others. Salvation is for all, but not all will avail of it. That's not on God anymore but to those who refuse. In this manner God's characters are all uphold.

Thank you. We as sinners can NEVER seek a holy God until he calls us. He finds us. We are reprobate. We are dark. The dark never shadows the light. Amen!
You have no understanding of the word of God. Jesus died for our sin. The sin of Adam made everyone sinners, and so the obedience of Jesus made all righteous Romans 5:18-19. But we need to accept that and turn our life to God. This what we called second chance. Because without it God will be so cruel to create mankind just to be damned. God is just and loving by providing us with a savior uphold both attributes without compromise. People go to hell not because of the lack of chance or love of God, but rejecting that chance and his offer (love). 2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
R.C. Sproul is probably the best teacher I've ever seen. Ligonier does a fantastic job in general. So much to learn from him!

No he is not he is the most intelligent but not wise. By siding with Calvin RC was preaching that God want less people to go to heaven and God is cruel, by only giving chance to the few even thou the bible clearly say that righteousness of Christ give chance to all Romans 5:18-19.

That is what Jesus brought to the entire creation, John 1:3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. Human introduce sins and human is the payments.

I wish Faith on Fire on UA-cam could see the error of his ways and stop his John MacArthur and Calvanism attacks. His attacks are out of ignorance, but used by the enemy of man's soul.
All of the comments I see in these videos are usually positive. They agree and basically just echo the talking points of the speaker. That’s good obviously. I just hope that one day I see someone in the comments share how they grew from what they heard. And even someone who held the opposite and objectively wrong view, have a change of heart based on the truth of God’s word and guidance of His holy spit. Being realized by the humility we must have through the death of the Son.
I was saved in March 2018. Then the Lord used R.C in early 2020 to renew my mind and Reform my theology

Raised with Arminian theology. No assurance. Started studying my Bible with Sproul’s help in 2020. Doctrines of Grace explanation reformed my theology and renewed my mind. Met a lot of people since then that hate Calvinism because they misunderstand it.

Even being fresh from my early rise this AM, these are still very mysterious and too deep for me to handle. Maybe when the caffeine start to kick in, I'll grasp some of the meaning of these.
G'day! What about 2 Peter 3:9 which says that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance? To me, the idea that God selects some to salvation and others to perdition contradicts His desire that all get saved.

Romans 8 gives a great explanation of this and 9 and 10 go on the EXPLAIN IT FURTHER ,
We are not made righteous if we are outside of Christ and he didn’t waste blood shed and make atonement for those who are not in him, that would be a Hell for no reason if he made us all righteous. You have to see context and understand what’s being said and understand the flow and WHY there was a redemptive plan his chosen people to be in Christ to live according to to the Spirit and not according to the flesh.
This is a very easy doctrine to understand when we place our feelings aside and see what we truly are and mankind has been. Ruthless arrogant entitled children of wrath, UNTIL CHRIST UNTIL THE HOLY SPIRIT UNTIL GOD CHANGES their hearts changes the desires and view on sin, others instead of abounding in the grace of God they curse at it or shake it off not seeing the amazing mercy and the grace of almighty God
The others he allows to continue in their desires. Reading from Genesis and through the Law and phrophets and continue to revelation, you see Gods sovereignty on full display, man’s rebellion UNLESS GOD gives grace and why Christ come to redeem a certain remnant of people, not even the called not all make it they even walk away but the chosen they remain in him because it was a work of God.
He gets all the glory and always will, this is HIS STORY THIS IS HIS CREATION AND THERE IS no injustice with God, he can throw us all onto Hell eternal punishment if he desires but our God has not changed for he cannot he is faithful and he keeps his word. So we must put emotions and feelings aside and read his word and truly read his word. Not read into his word but read out of his word. Meaning we have to understand subjects audience literal figurative we have to stop while reading and dig further get commentaries get trusted resources OLD DEAD GUYS, work the best for sure praise God for the faithful who has went before us!!!

I pray hearts are changed and God speaks truth to all who have trouble with this with great patience , as he has shown me as well and still opens my eyes to being gentle. We must remember a profession is not salvation. We must have change in the person sanctification is a work of God a sign of true salvation and repentance

The father needs to draw us first. We do not choose Jesus unless the father first draws us. It is not something we choose or can do on our own due to our sinful nature. We would never seek God on our own accord
We cannot begin to understand how God sees things. It is beyond human capacity. We can have drawn out talks such as this one, but we will truly never know.

The prescience view is in contrast to the doctrine of predestination...The Augustinian view is more in line
After several months of thinking about this doctrine since I found about it, I still struggle to grasp it. Is it not more likely that there's 2 groups that are saved in play here? Some who are chosen and brought to God by Himself, and those who choose to accept Christ of their own will by responding to the gospel message?
Scripture is plain that no one accepts Chrsit of their own will. Roman's 8 says that the natural man is not capable of it. He neither accepts God, does not obey God, and is not capable of obeying. obedience to God comes from being born again. Roman's 8:1-10. The things of God come from the Holy Spirit, they do not come from the heart of man. what is more basic to the things of God than faith in his Son Jesus? As Paul writes, you are a son of God if the Spirit dwells in you. if he does not dwell in you, you are on the other side of the abyss.

Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. "
None of this is saying that a person is incapable of hearing the gospel and responding to it with "yes". All it says is that people who live in the flesh are incapable of pleasing God and obeying His law. It sounds like you're taking an eisegesis approach with this passage by extending it beyond what it's actually saying...

@@bobcostello1811 Key word is "can". Let's say the Father draws in everyone. Does that mean everyone will be saved? No. Let's say the Father draws in some people like the Calvinists say. Does that mean all those people who are drawn in will 100% accept Christ? No, because it says "can". God merely gives the abilty to be able to come to Christ by drawing everyone in. The only way this verse can work in Calvinist theology is if you replaced the word "can" with "will" or something.
So, if it’s all predetermined, predestined, saved and reprobate, why preach the gospel to the unsaved? Why should or would anyone desire to seek God? It’s all predetermined in eternity past, right? Makes no logical sense. And why? Does God love everyone and wants all to come to a knowledge of the truth? Does he command and desire everyone to repent and believe in Jesus and be saved? Is John 3:16 intended for everyone or just a few already predetermined? I see gaping contradictions and illogical eisegesis here.
because we are commanded to and that God uses man preaching the gospel as his means to bring in his elect. It's not hard to understand this...

God does not love everyone as you've been taught to believe (See Romans 9:11-23), He loves his people, his elect chosen in him before the foundation of the world. There is no "contadiction". Jesus CLEARLY said in John 6:37-39 that ALL that was GIVEN to him will come to him, and those that were GIVEN to him, he loses NONE of them.....Jesus concluded in John 17:2-9 "As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him." Stop questioning it and believe what the Bible says!!!
I sure do love hearing RC Sprul tak on the Bible, one thing he says in this that is a lie and I strongly disagree with, Luke's.story of christmas, Jesus's birth is not xmas story, it the story of our Saviors birth. God hated and still hates xmas, I don't speK for God, he said he hates it, Dec 25 is the birth date of maybe the head top dog sun god, Mithra, his birthday was 25, God punished Israel for worshipping that pagan god and other pagan gods, easter, valentines, holloween, Mardi gras, all same gods just in different countries and at different times of the year. God Himself in His word has explained clearly that He is Love and explained exactly what the definition of love really is. And God's definition of love found in His word, completely rules out this nonsense that Mr. Sproul is teaching here.
