I've never played a single game of League in my life... and I know hardly anything about the game. But I still tune in and watch Faker play during championship games. He's just special and you get that feeling that you're watching a legend.
Same! I don't play League and I know nothing about this game. But Faker made me believe, made me learn more about him and the game, and made me tune in all over his games. He's just that guy ❤

Well what other vid do you want them to make? Even more so why would they make anything else when you watch a faker vid even though there are others about Tekken, Dota, and other games which you completely ignore.
Faker is literally the face of eSports. You know him even if you not into games that how famous he is. He is like Messi or CR7 you know him somewhere somehow but you cannot denied it.
@@lugas3090 Yeah, it was a mistake by OP. He shouldn't have compared Faker to them especially against Ronaldo 'cause Faker is tiers above when it comes to accomplishing things in his field.
Some if not most FPS players can tell that faker is the Goat of the leauge, but MOBA players cant tell which player is the Goat for CSGO or VALORANT. And that's just how Faker's name is so highly relevant even to this day. He's been the face of Esport.
That's actually a really important point you are making. I know people hate judging players based on popularity, but if you are looking for the greatest gamer of all time, popularity and worldwide influence is extremely important in this category - as important as their achievements. If you take this into account, Faker is undeniably the GOAT of esport and no one comes even remotely close. The amount of influence Faker brings into esports will most likely never be matched.
@@GamesRainNo? No one here knows who faker is. Despite being into eSports, I was not aware of him until I started watching this channel. Meanwhile s1mple's victories get broadcast on national news, and every second child aspires to be him.
@@serhiy-serhiiv You're probably an outlier. You're on the extreme side of the graph just as I was since I wasn't aware of s1mple's existence for quite a long time. And that's saying something since I used to play csgo with my friends back in high school. Granted, we were all trash, our lobbies weren't very good, and we played in a region where most people speak a language none of us understand. That being said, Faker's name is still the most widely known by an insanely huge margin.
what makes faker the GOAT is not only the fame he has, but because of the size of gut he has. This guy doesnt fear trying risky plays in a match where few millions are watching, risky plays that can be either a super play that will be remembered forever or a throw that will be saved as gif and get humiliated by haters. Most of his tries were successful and that's why he is remembered as the goat.
@@bbrother92 it's just a gifted talent. it's a born thing that varies person by person. that's why some are performing 100 out of 100 without burden and then performing way less in big stages.
Imo a big reason why faker is the goat of esports is just how big of a name he is. I knew faker before i even played a single game of League or mobas in general and many of my friends never played a game of league and still know faker and know about his status. And thats some no other Player achieved to this extent. The only one to be close is probably s1mple, but s1mple is basically unknown in asia while faker is well known all around the world.
Faker is literally held in the same pedestal in SK as names like BTS. He is that fucking big over there. In terms of sheer influence and popularity, nobody comes even close to this guy in the esports scene.
There was a video of Crown and CoreJJ hanging out in a bar just a few years after they took down the SKT dynasty. CoreJJ : Even if I win and everyone says I am the best when time passes, people forget. Crown: Of course. For all things. CoreJJ: All things. Crown: But I still remember Muhammad Ali CoreJJ and Crown laughs CoreJJ: Even if year pass, I guess people won't forget Faker. Crown: Yeah CoreJJ: Yeah, it's like that... These words coming from 2 players who defeated Faker in world final and started to understand what it meant to stay on top.
and even when you remove him from the top he (Faker) will climb it back again, a reference to his 2015-2017 run -> being defeated -> then reigniting his Empire in a new era (2022-present) "A new era, the same empire"
I believe so, even if I prefer FPSs over MOBAs. Because he is constantly in Mainstream and top tier. We don't find these kind of overwhelming good performance in any other eSports athletic.
Yknow, I never really considered the fact that League has been around for 15 years with hundreds of millions of players everyday AND YET there's still one name that stands atop everybody else. That is an insane legacy to live through and eventually leave behind. I wonder who the next "Faker" is going to be.
There’s no next Faker. He’s actually gone beyond the reach of anyone ever catching up. Even if the game lasted another 11 years.. it’s hard to say anyone could win 5 championships, 7 finals appearances, back to back win, twice. There’s no second greatest in LoL because Faker is so far ahead.
the thing with expecting a futire player to break the record is like if jordan, lebron and kobe had a baby in the nba that had the explosive impact, the mentality and longevity in the game to win 5 rings in a row and do it the same time 20 years later. if i had to quantify it, it would be this way since the drop off in mechanical skill takes much much shorter for esport players than your average basketball player's athletecism
@@supreme5998 Faker will never be usurped in LoL, but what about Esports as a whole? its arguable that at this point nobody matches what faker has accomplished in LoL, in other titles. it's one thing to have 5 world championships, but to have 2 of those championships 11 years apart(first and last) is actually insane to think about when you consider the average career in esports is like 5 years.
If Lol dies in even 10 years or below, maybe there will never be another like him. If this game stays for long nearing and after Faker's eventual retirement, there's a chance of another Faker, if not, a player better than Faker. Everything falls to time, after all
I think there are a few things that, to me, set Faker apart from anyone. Firstly, he has to be the most humble out of all the mentioned "GOATS" of their respective games. You NEVER hear about Faker saying something he shouldnt've, doing something wrong or anything like that. He keeps completely to himself and is a GENUINELY good role model for those that look up to him, he is quite literally the complete opposite of the League community. Secondly, there have been players who have been completely dominant in their respective games for long periods but to me what sets Faker apart is that fact that he has evolved WITH the game and is STILL head and shoulders above the competition, even 10+ years later. With players and teams alike specifically targetting him and his playstyle to stop him and yet he STILL has found ways to outperform and carry at the highest level. To do that for say 3 years would be impressive, but 10??? On the biggest stage in all of eSports he still continues to be the best, convincingly. Coming back to how he has evolved, he went from a player who was the best mechanical player in the world to someone who had to lead a team of VERY young players, guide them, help them, etc. And he did it. And he won worlds with them. Twice. In a row. It's just unheard of. Lastly, he has completely and utterly transcended League. The game with over 150 million monthly players and yet he is STILL more widely known than even that. In South Korea he is as, if not more, famous than the likes of BTS and Son Hueng-Min (who himself is a FAN of Faker and T1). EVERYONE knows Faker. EVERYONE watches when he plays. He's on the levels of Messi and Ronaldo in the terms of everyone is tuning in to see him play, to witness his magic before it's too late. I think a lot of people would agree when I say it's honestly kind of a privilage to be able to watch someone of that calibre perform like he does. It's amazing. I mean he alone is the reason I even know about League. He has done more for League or even just eSports as a whole than anyone other game, player, team or org. (Keria is my goat though)
true there is a reason why faker mentioned as one of korea's national treasure. i mean no disrespect to flash, but in the general public knowledge about esport, faker is the face of it, no doubt about that and it's not even close to the second of whoever that is
What makes the big 3 in tennis (federer, nadal, djokovic) so insane is also their longevity. Borg and McEnroe achieved similar levels of dominance in their peak years, but the big 3 did it for 15 years. Faker is similar in this regard, but unlike tennis, there's just him.
You didn’t just compare a gamer to a physical athlete? 😂 you dweebs overestimate everything in life, he will never come close to the greats of real sport
@@juliancaesar4575 I'm a pretty solid league and tennis player, masters and 4.0, and I can tell you that there are a lot of similarities in becoming good at them. Certainly the difference of individual versus team competition is a greater difference than that of being a game and a sport in this instance. I also think faker isn't even close to being as good at league as the big 3 were/are at tennis, I was just pointing out that longevity is an extremely rare trait in all competition, and it truly sets the goats apart from the historic players.
I'm an Esports fan for 30 years. I couldn't imagine an esports player can maintain the form for over 10 years. Gamers ageing curve is real and hard. They peak for very short period. Pretty sure Faker is the GOAT of Esports. He is just unbelieverble.
For reference, my little sister has zero idea about league. She was born when the game came out, but she knows every single time faker won a championship without me having to mention it.
True, but he has also had, and currently has, fantastic teammates that help him win. I personally think it is more impressive to dominate in a 1v1 game, but I do think Faker is the esports GOAT. Championships, peak, longevity, how popular the game is/how many people play it making it a deeper talent pool to compete against, etc. It's undeniable.
@@Mije101-bz8ph Yeah but a team effort always will be undeniably more impressive. Just the thought having not the world favourite roster came into clutch and overly dominant compare to regional and global best rosters/players. And still, delivered a banger and came out on top. @@AaryanRKODifference in in solo games there is no luck factor. So if you lose it’s because of you 100%. Okay but now you guys need to make a true video educating people on Flash. He's currently returned to competitive Starcraft and I feel like people don't understand how big Starcraft still is in Korea and that these guys are still playing. He's been dominating for so long.
A new era. The same dynasty. Form is temporary. Faker is forever. It’s not the LPL vs the LCK. It’s T1 vs the LPL, and they like those odds. These quotes go hard af.
Faker is the e-sports goat, period end of discussion, he is beyond his game, he is known world wide and makes people gravitate to to play his game off the back of his play, flash is legendary, but faker is at that status in a game that still has a booming sports scene and still competing in it, that's the difference, when you get inducted as the first player in the hall of fame as an active player that's how you know your the goat.
Even the president of the Korea congratulated T1 and Faker when they won World 2023, that feat alone is enough to cement Faker's name as the greatest. Like imagine being thanked by the leader of your country by winning a game tournament, that's fking huge
The thing about Faker is that Flash isnt as recognized as Faker is in the same country. Faker is a recognized Name in Korea as Son Heung Min; BTS; Boo Jong Hoon and Kim Yuna. And the "player base" argument the host of the video gives is not a very good one as the game of starcraft was only super popular in one country. And it's not like the international competition of league makes it a challenge to korea so the higher player base holds no competitive value either way. It's a non-argument.

He's probably one of the reasons why Asian Games had Esports in the first place, and it also helps that he plays the game w/ the best-managed esports. Don't forget he had health issues with his wrist and gets constantly DDOS'd to the point he can't play or practice for weeks but that didn't stop him from taking the worlds last year and this year.
There can be countless debates if Faker is really the GOAT of eSports, but what he's done for League of Legends is truly astonishing. I'm sure people thought Worlds 23 victory run was it, but he ends up winning Worlds 24 too, where he ends up showing he's still good enough to lead his team to victory. In a critical situation where the opposing team is one game away from victory, he stands resolute and calm, makes game winning plays I'm sure very few players would be able to and clutches Game 4 and 5. His long career run and accolades are not just inspiring new beginner players to play this game and leave a mark but also lighting up a fire within retired league of legend players to make their comeback and fight for the crown again.
faker's greatest strength is all the free marketing he gets from riot themselves. he's likely the best to have ever played the game but when it comes to be being known it helps to have riot's infinite money glitch behind you constantly putting your name and face on everything

@@Dhakhar That’s not a comparable example at all. Yes and it’s not even close. Who could you even say that would challenge him for the spot? He’s the best player in the most popular game in the most difficult genre and has been for over a decade, 7 time world champion(2x msi 5x worlds). 10+ time regional champion. Only player to have multiple back to backs. Who else has a resume like that?
Most viewership and most popular esport does not equate to the most competitive or hardest. And, I'm saying this as someone who loves League of Legends. SonicFox has been dominated every major game he has competed in over the last decade which is 7 DIFFERENT games. They haven't waned like Faker. SonicFox has 7 EVOs for a reason which is an international tournament with an open bracket tournament unlike League. League's Worlds is a team game and it still only had 100 players across 20 teams for their biggest international tournament, but MK1 for EVO had over 640 entrants (Street Fighter 6 had over 5 thousand btw in this same prestigious tournament). Faker is dominant in a popular esport with more stability because of how their franchised league works. Fighting games are typically open bracket so no one is guaranteed a spot and are unstable because anyone can come from anywhere to rise to the top making it WAY harder to maintain any sort of continued dominance like SonicFox has. Hell, StarCraft Brood War is BY FAR the much harder game but was it as popular as League of Legends even at its peak? No. But, I'd argue that Flash is a better gamer because of how much more difficult the game is from a mechanical, macro and micro perspective. Faker is the GOAT of League and should be considered as one of the greatest gamers of our generation. But, the very best? I don't think so, but I think he'sa valid consideration. That doesn't mean you get to knock on other esports scenes and say it isn't close. It's very disingenuous to think that the most viewed esport means it's the hardest or most competitive either. Other games exist theScore esports, stop pretending that only CounterStrike, Dota 2 and League of Legends are the only ones that matter in these conversations.
To be honest, I think your opening statement is just flatly wrong. The playerbase size does literally equate to how competitive a game is. Magnus Carlsen is so exceptional because SO many people play chess and yet he embarrasses everyone almost all of the time. Faker has the largest pool of competition of any esports (and it isn't close) and he has been the best for a very long time. Also - more competition leads to a higher rate of improvement because everyone learns from each other.
i actually really don't believe that faker is the greatest gamer ever too, and i hecking love him! The thing is, what makes faker great apart from his skill and consistency is how he carries himself. Most gamers have some sort of controversial takes and moments but faker has none, making him the perfect face of gaming. a 5 time world champion with a holier-than-thou attitude? people will eat that up and validly so
I respect SonicFox but he aint the goat, but the thing is unlike MOBA or FPS game, fighting game isn't really a mainstream game I will call SonicFox goat if he single-handedly makes Fighting game mainstream game or famous on the other side Faker which is the goat of esports made League a mainstream game and famous due to his mechanics which leads him to his championship on early years Plus, you saying that there are other games harder than league is stupid its like saying Michael Jordan and Messi shouldnt be the very best on sports since baseball or rugby is much harder sports or even boxing and those are more harder sports Its not like sports have one Goat we have Messi, MJ, Ali and so on, and these people I mentioned are so famous that they are recognized even if you know nothing of the sport And Faker is the Goat and the very best on esports could ever see because the mastery of one sport is already special I respect SonicFox really have watch him sometimes, but he aint the GOAT, make him Fighting game mainstream Goat and very best is earned not by playing hard competition, Let's try someone who play FPS pro a MOBA game I guarantee you he will never be a pro level or if you believe SonicFox is the greatest esports player let him play League??? You see the point???
@@FizzLeeague I do think the size of competition and competitive players is a factor to consider, but it is not the end all or be all. The complexity of the game itself has to come into question because that is where techiques, mechanics, strategy and whatnot can be measured. Your comparison itself can show this. Chess is popular and Magnus Carlsen is exceptional but he's playing a solved game where every possible move has been figured out and defined by a computer. Compare that to the game of GO which is a simpler game rules wise but is by far a more complex game that no computer can play at a professional level unlike chess. It is not a solved game by any means and is considered the most deeply strategic game ever made. That leads to the question. Would you consider Magnus Carlsen the greatest board game player in his domination of chess that is essentially a solved game? Or, would it be Go Seigen, a historic Go player that pioneered the modern way to play a strategic game where the correct/perfect answer is impossible to determine because of the strategic complexity? In short, I'm saying there's no correct answer to this whole thing and people will have their own values and opinions on it. There's so many factors to consider in what makes the best gamer. Player size is a factor and it matters. Strategic and mechanical depths of a game are a factor and they matter. Frankly, games of different genres require different skill sets and calling someone the greatest gamer means excelling in all facets. More complex and more mechanically demanding games are by nature just more competitive because it is harder to win and be competing and League of Legends is not the hardest mechanically or more complex game around. So, that should be a factor. And, dismissing other games just for being smaller without considering their mechanics, complexity and whatnot is just being disingenuous. To show perhaps a bit more simply to why your argument for playerbase size is just a fallacy, let's do a real sports comparison. If your argument is to be believed, soccer should be the most competitive athletic sport in the world, right? Since it's by far the most popular? Or do we consider studies from Physicists using the winning ratio that argue that baseball and the MLB might be the most competitive sport? Or, do we consider what athletes consider the most exhaustive and physically demanding like boxing/MMA/combat sports? Even though those sports will by far have less competitors because of the risk involved? Should they just be dismissed from the conversation just because less players compete? Do you see what I'm getting at here? Playerbase does not inherently mean that the game is more competitive. It's just one of the factors you have to consider.
@@san8838 Where did I say SonicFox was the GOAT? I was simply making an argument that they were dismissing SonicFox unfairly from the conversation. If anything, I was calling out that they were dismissing someone like SonicFox when even within the fighting game space they ignored legitimate contenders who are arguably better like Justin Wong, GO1, Kazunoko, Tokido and etc. You're also making arguments without properly explaining your thought process. Why do you believe a game being mainstream matters in it's competitive integrity or viability? Why does that matter? Why does being transcendent in one game make you the best? Your arguments are so disconnected. You're simply saying something and acting like it's fact without following through on why. They're dysfunctional at best. Like, we are on a video debating the greatest gamer yet you're making sports comparison that says there's isn't one GOAT. Please, try to be more coherent next time. You simply brushed games being harder as stupid when they are literally one of the things you measure competitve games in. Harder games are more competitive because they have more in depth mechanics something you praised Faker for. Of course, they should be a factor because you can actually measure and see strategy, mechanics, macro, micro and whatnot between games. Like, no one is going to call tic tac toe or connect four a strategically complex and mechanically demanding game. Not all games are created equal in terms of complexity-mechanically and strategically. Anyway, this will be my last reply to you because your arguments just have so many holes in them and are frankly, nonsensical.

@@toad7395 To be fair though Starcraft is and was a nationally televised game in Korea. The Korean government literally made an entire esports division called KeSpa because of Starcraft. Flash is a household name in Korea along with the first 4 bonjwas Boxer, Iloveoov, Nada, and Savior. Alot of this talk about Faker being bigger than Flash just isn't true unless youre only talking about outside of Korea.
It think what makes him so different now to every other league pro is how damn calculated he is at everything. He has played this game for so long that I doubt there is a single angle or move that he hasn't seen before in pro play. The moment the enemy makes a single step out of position he will capitalize on it.
wdym LOL had an international playerbase and x10 as much competition and money than starcraft did. It's also easier to dominate single player games cause there's less variables. faker clears flash
Comparing Faker to Flash is like comparing Messi to Sugar Ray Robinson. Both are goats of their respective sports. But I mean c'mon. Almost 250 million people plays soccer. While there are around 10 million people who practices boxing either casually or professionally. So mathematically Sugar Ray Robinson could finally surpass Messi in GOAThood after 25 lifetimes.
he did do it as solo yes, but has he carried the game the way Faker carried LoL? No, Faker has carried the game since his first worlds title till his 5th.
Sure Flash was more dominant but that tends to happen in a less competitive environment. Just look at Hakuho. If we go by domination alone he's the GOAT of sports as a whole. But the guy practices sumo lol. So it's kinda hard to compare him to guys like Michael Jordan.

Faker has transcended League, and yes, he is the Esports GOAT. The same way people say Kobe when they shoot a basketball, people use Faker's name when they do something insane in a game, even when it's not league. He's a national treasure in his country, he's a household name to both gamers and non-gamers alike, may it be young or old people, his reach goes far, and he's not yet done. His dedication really paid off, and being humble throughout it all is what amazes me. He's a personality even without the game because he is a kind and simple person fundamentally.
Faker isn‘t the mechanically best player anymore. Think of Chovy dominating him in laneing phases over the last two years in the LCK. But what is amazing that he always finds immaculate engages during teamfights and attracts so much attention towards himself that his teammates in the ZOFGK roster can shine. It’s just something about him that most people can’t understand if they‘ve never seen lol esports. He is the goat of esports for his longevity and creating two dynasties during two very different stages of league esports
He has been the GOAT since 2017, the accomplishments in the recent 3 years is just him securing that crown after the “downfall” he had in 2018-2021(although winning LCK and reaching Worlds semis wouldn’t be considered as a downfall for most players)
What if Faker left league and lived his better life... people and i will lose minds and what's going to be next goat of league... but im happy for Faker to watch his achievements and success towards his career since I was in freshman (high school) even tho i supported other teams when he was top of everything... no matter what happens, he's still going to the goat of the league and esports in history to tell the tail of unkillable G.O.A.T. king...
The difference between Faker and any other greats in esports is Faker plays in a circuit that has a regular season. No one out there in fps, fgc and rts can play 8 months and practice on the weekdays and still has the mental fortitude to keep going, for over 10 years.
Faker is the esports goat. People don't understand how long 11 years is in esports years. I often multiply it by 4 cause dynasties come by and go in a span of 2 years or to be more precise 2 World Championships. You can be the best team in the world for 2 World Cups in a row and then not qualify for the next one and disappear forever. Many esports' goats struggle to have a career spanning 5 years let alone be at the top. And this guy has won 5 World Championships, reached what 7 World Finals and been a top level competitor for over a decade. That is literally like a sporting athlete winning World Cups in their 50s. He is the absolute GOAT.

That's actually a really important point you are making.
Once Faker retire from pro league, the LoL esport will die with it or perhaps LoL itself.
😂 you dweebs overestimate everything in life, he will never come close to the greats of real sport

not only is the longevity mind boggling but also the adaptability, league has gone through many patches and Faker is still able to keep up with the young guns. Don't forget he had health issues with his wrist and gets constantly DDOS'd to the point he can't play or practice for weeks but that didn't stop him from taking the worlds last year and this year.
Juuuuuust long enough for those midroll ads. Nice
Don't get it twisted, without faker, riot wouldn't go big into the eSports scene, it benefits both party. Faker put the league on the map, so it's befitting for him to be the face of it. Haven't you seen 2018 & 2020 worlds championships? The viewership were lower because T1 wasn't able to qualify for it, it goes to show that riot doesn't need to market faker, faker himself is
the marketing
It goes both ways. Take note that the LOL esports is actually being carried singlehandedly by T1, most notably Faker.
@@John_Lloyd league esport was already big before faker even became pro, infinite money glitch? you're talking about valve
@@John_Lloyd riot was already enjoying worldwide success via their esports scene long before faker ever showed up. he's been a great addition, sure. but he did not put league on the map. his entire career took off because it was already the map
it does benefit both parties for sure. but as the video admits other have comparable success but just dont happen to be playing the biggest game on the planet at the moment (and enjoying the marketing from that game)
@@111-rg8 t1 is very popular yes but they alsmost didnt even make worlds and plenty of other teams have ravenous fanbases. theyre not single handedly doing anything, they just excelling in the most successful video game going right now
they did fall and the league kept on growing and new players stepped into the limelight. it just happens to be really cool and interesting that theyre back, perfect story for sports fans
Back to back Faker vids. Lets go
You cannot talk about longevity and not mention Joseph "Mang0" Marquez, the youngest and the oldest melee player to win a Major
Who?
who?
who?
hmmm, 33 major tourney wins, started in 2007 and is still playing pro.... that's pretty worthy of attention I cannot lie
By all measures you listed, the GOAT of eSports didn't even come up as a side note.
Jonathan Fatal1ty Wendel
He won the Lifetime Achievement Award at a gaming convention when Faker was 11 years old and has received multiple Lifetime Achievement Awards and Hall of Fame entries since. He held the earnings record of all of esports for 6 years after retirement. He became World Champion in 5 different games! He was the face of esports when most people had never heard the word.
He came, dominated his whole career and every single game he touched, and then went and made gaming better by creating Gamer related hardware.
Gaming in general and esports especially wouldn't be where it is today without fatal1ty.
He may very well be the most dominant human to ever touch any discipline.
Idk about that, theres that one dude who won the French National Scrabble Champ without speaking French. Faker would have to go to NA and win worlds for him to get that title imo.
@@TheExFloridaMan sheeeesh the disrespect OMG
Have you ever heard of Mijain Lopez? The guy got gold medal in FOUR consecutive olympic games, dominated his discipline for 13 years. That's just the first name I thought of, but I bet there are more dominant people out there.
@@TheExFloridaManI’m playing competitive scrabble back in my high school days around 5 years ago, I used to be #3 in the southern part of thailand high school league (which isn’t that impressive bc my country is much smaller than usa) but the point is I know Scrabble definitely doesn’t need you to know or speak that language, it mostly just memorization and pattern recognition, back then I don’t know 97%+ of the word I play. I just need to know that this word can be play and which one worth memorize, we have a complete guide book on Scrabble as our school is very competitive, but guess what, 80% of player don’t know shit about english lol. Even right now I’m still don’t even know more than half the word I used to play, what is meaning of HAJ / JEU / RAJ / JUA? I don’t fucking know lmao, I just know I can play it
John Brzenk’s arm wrestling dominance is the craziest thing I have ever seen
I played league around the same time as Faker's debut, so much have changed in my life, in me.
But Fake is still Faker
Flash isn't comparable to Faker you already mention the playerbase and competition SC:BW or starcraft in general is niche game.
As harsh as it is and as much as SC did for esports in it's early days I gotta agree. The playerbase and market isn't even close to being comparable to todays era of esports.
플레이어 베이스가 전 세계적인 게임이라 한들 지금도 한국이 세계최고인건 변함없어

@@꼬북칩-m7h Over its lifetime, Starcraft and brood war combined sold only 4,500,000 units in South Korea. Just right now, League of Legends has 20,000,000 players currently in South Korea. Their popularity is not close.
@@Ice_Icemb Not surprising that the easier game of the two is more popular, SC has a much higher skill-floor than LoL . Regardless, neither of those metrics are really relevant in this discussion. Would you discount the talent of Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen because theyre only competing vs 19 others?
@@Dhakhar That’s not a comparable example at all. If there was another version of F1 where somehow there was an easy barrier of entry with millions of competitors, then I would absolutely value that much higher than Verstappen vs 19 competitors, but that’s obviously impossible because of the logistics and costs of F1.

After this worlds, this is not even a question. He is a goat for every sport
The fuck kinda question is this?
More videos about Faker and I’ll watch them all
Most viewership and most popular esport does not equate to the most competitive or hardest.
Most gamers have some sort of controversial takes and moments but faker has none, making him the perfect face of gaming. a 5 time world champion with a holier-than-thou attitude? people will eat that up and validly so
I respect SonicFox but he aint the goat, but the thing is unlike MOBA or FPS game, fighting game isn't really a mainstream game
I will call SonicFox goat if he single-handedly makes Fighting game mainstream game or famous
on the other side Faker which is the goat of esports made League a mainstream game and famous due to his mechanics which leads him to his championship on early years
Plus, you saying that there are other games harder than league is stupid
its like saying Michael Jordan and Messi shouldnt be the very best on sports since baseball or rugby is much harder sports
or even boxing and those are more harder sports
Its not like sports have one Goat we have Messi, MJ, Ali and so on, and these people I mentioned are so famous that they are recognized even if you know nothing of the sport
And Faker is the Goat and the very best on esports could ever see because the mastery of one sport is already special
I respect SonicFox really have watch him sometimes, but he aint the GOAT, make him Fighting game mainstream
Goat and very best is earned not by playing hard competition, Let's try someone who play FPS pro a MOBA game I guarantee you he will never be a pro level
or if you believe SonicFox is the greatest esports player let him play League???
I love how he compares everything even player numbers and how revelant a game is then talks about starcraft player.
No. He is the GOAT of League of Legends. But not in esports. You just cant compare him to other players in different eSports. To each their own goats. You can just say he is the most famous eSports player. Peace
Him and Flash. Love them both.
Faker is the first, and so far only player in the LoL Hall of Legends.
And while Flash has "God" or "The Ultimate Weapon" as a title, Fakers is "The Unkillable Demon King"
Gods can die, weapong be destroyed, but the Demon King? Nah, he wont die.
actually demon king can died with a holy sword but Flash nickname was actually the Last Great Bonjwa I would consider them equal in terms of SKILLS impact on Korean sociality Faker would have more reach

Alot of this talk about Faker being bigger than Flash just isn't true unless youre only talking about outside of Korea.
im glad they changed the title from ad reader to host

Fr, the milking faker is insane atp
It think what makes him so different now to every other league pro is how damn calculated he is at everything. He has played this game for so long that I doubt there is a single angle or move that he hasn't seen before in pro play.
The moment the enemy makes a single step out of position he will capitalize on it.
Faker is the undisputed GOAT of LoL. But Flash had the competition level that Faker never did, and he did it as a solo.
wdym LOL had an international playerbase and x10 as much competition and money than starcraft did.
So it's kinda hard to compare him to guys like Michael Jordan.
people trashing this comment because of the popularity of LoL nowadays when it was starcraft the game that built esport lmfao

I think you can mention Serral these days he is one of those demon kings who come back same as Faker. And work to perfection.
Still far behind, Serral needs to maintain his dominance to be even considerednhere, but Clem said no multiple times, so..
He's the GOAT and also the GOTT (greatest of this time)
Faker has transcended League, and yes, he is the Esports GOAT.
Everyone who plays league knows FAKER, his impact has been bigger than any other e-sports player
Faker = Lebron
Flash =- Jordan
Take that as you will
He has been the GOAT since 2017, the accomplishments in the recent 3 years is just him securing that crown after the “downfall” he had in 2018-2021(although winning LCK and reaching Worlds semis wouldn’t be considered as a downfall for most players)
What if Faker left league and lived his better life... people and i will lose minds and what's going to be next goat of league... but im happy for Faker to watch his achievements and success towards his career since I was in freshman (high school) even tho i supported other teams when he was top of everything... no matter what happens, he's still going to the goat of the league and esports in history to tell the tail of unkillable G.O.A.T. king...
Faker is on his Tom Brady Arc
He is the absolute GOAT.
not even 24 hrs in and they already have another Faker video
