  • Live performance, recorded in a single take on the Zoom Q4. Using overdub techniques, the Microbrute along with delay and reverb emits lush stereo soundscapes and brain tweaking leads. Some compression was added to save your speakers and your ears from the brutal bass and searing super saw sounds of the ever brutal Microbrute. Eventide Space and Timefactor are directly connected via line out from the Microbrute and then in to the Korg KP3 The video was cut down from it's original 23 minutes and some effects added for drama. All sounds originate from what you see. The power of this analog synth is exposed with pristine signal processing of the Eventide effects

      The Kaoss Pad and the Timefactor are MIDI synced, as seen at 2:35. There also is a MIDI cable going into the Microbrute, it might be synced as well since the LEDs blink at the same rate.
      Also, please consider being nice on the internet :)

    This is very enjoyable to listen to and the microbrute is a tremendous value but people should keep perspective that this is a $250 synth running through $1000 worth of top of the line effects (which do add A LOT).

    • @_multigrin
      @_multigrin  9 років тому

      Matt Greer very good point. i also ran it through ableton live lite version 8 and used their delay in another video which had very impressive results. i would imagine reaper and some free vst could do just as well... any thoughts?

    • @MattGreerMusic
      @MattGreerMusic 9 років тому

      A bit of verb and delay almost always sounds nice on a synth in my opinion. I can't say for sure though, I'm more of a hardware junky these days (have a Space and a KP3+ myself actually) but I do utilize Ableton's effects on occasion. If someone wanted a really budget option, Audacity aint half bad.
      Good video though. That huge pitch bend at the beginning is epic sounding. The microbrute is probably the best synth out there for your money right now. I think I even like better than the mini.

    • @PHAEDRIDER

      Matt Greer yah.. i noticed that too. i have a few vintage analog synths, but still i bought one ..and for 200 bucks IT SOUNDS GREAT!!!!!! my odyssey is 40 years old and doesnt have cv/ gate inputs, this has cv AND MIDI in AND usb. come to think of it it's cheaper than a midi to cv converter, and this video shows how great it sounds,

      Yes. Indeed! It kinda shoots the "Garbage In Garbage Out" theory to pieces. Although, there must be something said for a good source signal but I don't know what. What is even funnier is, then I sample all that pristine goodness that comes out of the eventides into the kp3 at a lower sample rate.

    Awesome setup and sounds! I'm definitely going to be picking up the Microbrute. Will probably want to pick up an effects processor or two as well. I've had my eyes on the KP3 for a while but it doesn't seem like you really used its effects in this performance much at all. Honestly, the big kicker for me on the KP3 and the Kaossilator is the looper. From this video though I'd say you seem pretty fond of the Eventide reverb and delay. I'm pretty fond of them now too ha! What do you have to say about Eventide pedals?

    • @_multigrin
      @_multigrin  10 років тому

      I do like the eventide pedals. But for the price of one space pedal you could almost get two microbrutes. That being said, the pedals are very flexible and I haven't even tapped into their potential.

      +Jean-Fabrice Vernet I will not have $500 for effects in the for-see-able future. I am going to try Behringer only rack mount effects box, I had one 8 years ago, for $130 I will see how much better it is and what algorithms I can custom design to get close to Eventide"s.

    Awaiting for reviews, deep insights about your gear !
    Thanks

    • @_multigrin
      @_multigrin  9 років тому

      Yes there would be some clipping of the ambiance. With delay, I like to use a timing that works evenly with the loop cycle, so I tend to use beat synced delay. As for reverb, that's a bit more difficult. I have tried to run ambient effects after the kp3 as well. In the end, I love the experimentation process and the crazy sounds. Great question. Thanks for asking!

      Thanks for the help. I eventually ended up getting a Tascam DR-40 (basically the same as the Q4), and I record directly into that. which works pretty well. For now I am just using the built-in software effects in Adobe Audacity, but I would really like to get something external (ideally an Eventide H9, but I might as well buy another two synths with that money :P)
      Anyways, I made this track by simply recording all of the parts separately. It's not anything special, but I hope to improve on this method over time. I just wanted to let you know that your videos are really inspirational to me :)

      Thank you! It's amazing the tones that can be generated from those machines.
