The Ninth House sounds like the perfect book for fall in terms of atmosphere, I’ve had it on my shelves for months and yet I’m so scared to approach it because of how high my expectations were at the beginning!
The only horror book that ever scared me was Dark Water by Koji Suzuki, I can't recommend it enough. Also my staple autumn reads are The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and The Secret History by Donna Tartt
I love Lockwood&Co sooo much. And you are the first person I know to actually recommend this in their fall reads video. I hope that more people will discover the series and fall in love wirh it!
I definitely recommend the Lockwood & Co. series! It's a lot of fun, it's not too scary like you said, and the characters are great! This series is actually the only thing I've read off of your list so I think I'll have some catching up to do this autumn!
i really wanna give dark academia type of books a try, and i'm starting with the secret society, even tho i really wanna read if we were villains too (and i was recently gifted a couple of shakespeare plays so i'll get to those first hahaha)
I'm so happy I came across your channel some years ago. Such a gem. Not too harsh in critiques, just the right recommendations for exploration without limiting them in terms of the general rating. Kudos!
I felt the same way about Truly Devious. I think you’ll like A Study in Charlotte much more. I did anyways haha. Idk how I didn’t know about Cruel Beauty and I’m glad you mentioned Uprooted bc for some reason I thought summer would be a good time to read that. The new Naomi Novik book sounds SO GOOD! I hope you get to read lots of cozy, spooky books 🍂
My favourite thing about your videos is the background music that you choose and try to adapt your life that you are generously filming for our sake in a way that whenever somebody watches your videos they feel positive!
Loving the background music, it fits so well with the theme ahaha! Thanks for the spooky-but-not-too-horror recs, I found that most of the books you recommended haven't been spoken about by a lot of other booktubers. I have maybe one middle grade/YA series recommendation for you: Tunnels by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams. It's all about this subterranean world and society that the main character discovers after his father disappears in his cave. DEFINITELY gave me the spooks when I read it!!

if we were villains is my dark academic pick for gothtober! glad to know its character and Shakespeare focused. I'm finishing up uprooted right now and i'm loving it.
I'm into psychological horror, so my recommendations along those lines are: "The Troop" by Nick Cutter, "The Hunger" by Alma Katsu, "Young Goodman Brown" by Nathaniel Hawthorne (short story), "The Terror" by Dan Simmons, "The Corn Maiden and Other Nightmares" by Joyce Carol Oates (short story collection), "We Eat Our Own" by Kea Wilson. And this is exactly what was looking for. We will be in Autumn in New Zealand soon, so I need some dark academia gothic spooky fall books. Thank you beauty!
You’re going to love Wilder Girls! It was one of my favorite books of 2019. I am currently reading Ninth House and I liked it, but somehow I had expected something different from what I’m reading now. But I want to find out what makes it so special to everyone! Another book I’m currently reading that you might like: the Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu. It’s a historical fiction about Mozart’s sister, who was bound to become the piano prodigy, intertwined with a magical world. Very autumnal as well! Xxx

Yessss I love the Lockwood & Co books and I don't hear enough about those books! Also for spooky books I recommend anything Grady Hendrix has written; I've only read two books (Horrorstör and My Best Friend's Exorcism) but I really enjoyed those a lot!
