I wish my Grandma could have seen this. It would have made her so proud, she, and I are both very proud of our people.
I've always had an affinity to horses. But never had the chance to own one. I don't know how ride a horse. On two occasion I slide off the horse because I never learn to ride. Yet, my love and respect in me is deep for the horse. I once had a chance to see horses in the wild in Northern Nevada. I just love see them run wild.

My people the Navajo/Diné have a beautiful Horse culture in the Southwest with wild horse bands still herding around.
You forgot about the Lakota that's a whole other horse culture
cherokee and cheyenne too, great plains tribes were amazing with them

None of them could match the Comanche on the horse though.

I think when they say “the horse has always been here” tribal chiefs weren’t sitting around analyzing wonky carbon dating of a few horse bones, the horse was seen by explorers to the Americas years before Columbus

I kinda have to laugh at how people talk when referring to natives. They Talk about how we are not gone, but act like they are giving a eulogy. Its important to speak of any culture with respect, however we are not gone we are not dead our culture, kids, traditions new and old, homes, lifestyle is still very much alive.
I laugh anyway...(speak somberly) people (pause look down) talk of native people (pause, bow head) like we are dead.....

The Plains Native Americans were good horsemen. Souix, Lakota, Blackfoot, Cheyenne, Arapaho, etc had horses too. Apaches had horses too.
What I want to know is this..how long were the natives here, did any have horses before they died out, and did any of those bloodlines survive? In other words, did any tribes preserve the original horse?
You have Appaloosas and there is a bloodline that is supposedly the descendents of Sitting Bulls herd
American horses came from Spanish settlers, they are not native animals. The native tribes have not died out, neither have the mustangs. Although many of them are inbred or overmanaged by blm and the like.

Well said. There are people who think horses are tools and people who think horses are partners. I’m in the latter.
Native americans had a practice that each person was raised and given the opportunity to succeed and be a good member and productive member of their society. Each given jobs and task based on their needs and capabilities, in comparison to today's age you most can't even afford a mode of transportation or vehicle, however back then every person had their own horses, jobs, houses or huts, were knowledgeable about self-sustainability. I'd say we disconnected from the true purpose and task given to us in which is to provide security for the people, in whatever means is necessary. Capitalism has ruined so many things in this country it's such a shame
She was wrong in that the horse did not come to America by the murderous Columbus. Instead they came with the Spanish in the 16th century via Cortes, Coronado and De Soto. And yes, do not forget about the Lakota.

Its a nice video but the part about wild horses I feel she should of looked in to that more herself. Wild horses are the product and a big part of native Americans. As of today they are being slaughtered. Its lovely to keep culture but at the same time gain the knowledge of proper care.

I have a theory that the Native Americans were originally from Arabia. Look at a map of Pangea and see how the continents used to fit together. See where northern Africa fits into the US? Now compare how the Arabs 'trill' just like the Native American. The western tribes were nomadic, living in tipis ( tents for Arabs) and the fringes on the garments. Horse culture for both. What do you think?

Explain to me, where is the understanding and relationship in attacking a green horse, saddling him, and jumping on his back and ripping his face off with a metal shank bit? What does that horse learn? How is that being a friend to that horse? This woman obviously has no clue about horses and horsemanship.
