  • Jay used to tell breakfast stories to try to get his children, Ted and Laura, to eat their oatmeal. He'd say "Eat your oatmeal and then I'll tell you a story." They in turn told Jay they'd eat their oatmeal after he told them a story! One morning, there were raisins in their oatmeal and thus Jay's story, RAISINS, was born!

I found Earth Stories at our library years ago when my children were small. It was our favorite cd. We listened to it all the time. Herman the Worman is like a member of the family; we still talk about the stories today and my children are now grown.

I LOVED these stories growing up. They're one of the few cassette tapes I transferred onto my phone.
"If you treat it like a bubble, it will act like a bubble" is one of my mottos for dealing with life

I was at the thrift store a few years ago and found a cassette of stories for only 25 cents.
I listened to it and was BLOWN AWAY by the best storytelling I've ever heard. It was by this man in the video. Wonderful songs and characters.

I used to listen to this tape as a kid and I swear it was Robin Williams!!! But now that I finally see him, I cannot believe it! I love all of his stories.

They are not available on streaming or download services (that I know of) but almost all of his stories are available on CD

Some longer form kids stories I recommend are “Herman and Marguerite” (which is also on YT as a video), “The Little Dragon,” “The Red Ball,” and “Raspberries” (and the rest - they are all good!)

I found a video of your stories at Western WA U when I was taking a storytelling class and fell in love with "The Bubble" story. Storytelling (including inspiration from you) helped me become a park ranger, and now the bubble is my 3 y/o (she's the same age as me!) daughter's favorite story. Thank you.
