Title: The LA Dodgers Built The Best Team In Baseball
By: Purely Baseball - Спорт
The person who did the surgery on Ohtani is the head physician for the Dodgers. So likely good chance Dodgers have a good feeling he's gonna return to his normal self when your team doctor is the one who did it.
so many obvious reasons he was going to be a Dodger, if you couldn't see it your prob blind. The Dodgers offered him 700mil at the first meeting.
Right IDK why people thought the dodgers might back out because of his physical it was just a headline for clicks
Can you elaborate “head” doctor?
@@caliloyalty818The Dodgers have a doctor that they use for their team. He’s the same doctor that performed the surgery on Ohtani.
Teams in Japan send their T-J cases there, that is how good the LAD organization is on this.
Ohtani is worth every penny and more. The Dodgers aren't just paying for a player, they invested in a global brand. He brings incredible value on the field but even more off it, to the point that this contact will pay itself in a matter of years for any team.
Perfectly said
Shotime is the greatest baseball player in history. Cannot wait for the new season. Go Dodgers!
Lol. No, he isn't. Not even close. In ten years, if he has better numbers, then anybody else who's ever played. Then you can say that.
He has already had TJ surgery this year. So next year, he's a DH. So ask yourself, is he better than Acuna? I say no way.
Are you 10?
The Dodgers have been #1 in attendance every year from 2013-2023.
Yes they also have been the #1 losers in the playoffs.
Get your facts straight, Pennants in '17, '18 and WS in 2020. Been to the NLCS 7 times. Last two years only.@@robertlosasso4222
Ohtani dreamed to win world series with Dodgers since he was a highschool kid.
Keep dreaming, sport!
☝️😆👍
@@TheBatugan77 it's going to happen soon
@@koningklootzak7788 it's going to take another pandemic for that to happen lol.
@koningklootzak…He’ll still be dreaming when he retires too .
@@robertlosasso4222 wtf
Babe Ruth didn't do both at the same time as long or at the level Ohtani has. Hope he stays healthy.
@laartwork…Well smart guy for starters Babe Ruth to this day still holds the record for the longest complete game pitched in playoff history. A 14 inning complete game victory over the Brooklyn Dodgers, winning 2-1 . Also in his 1920 season he hit 59 home runs , batted .378 and a .846 slugging percentage , Ruth also scored 177 runs , 119 extra base hits and 457 total bases . A feat that is unmatched in modern day baseball and still stands out in 2023 . So let’s see your boy Shohei match that smart guy .
@@robertlosasso4222 You're just a racist hater cause you can't stand an Asian dude who already did what your baseball white legend was not able to do
I'm an Astros fan and I have to admit I'm expecting great things from the Dodgers and looking forward to seeing them play and win.
the MAJOR major thing about the Ohtani deal, that you overlooked especially at the end, was that it's heavily back-loaded. So he's not making 70mil a year, in fact he's making a lot but not as much as you'd really expect, because he wants them to be able to continue to build a winning team around him for the next decade. I'm not a Dodgers fan by any means, but I still think them having a Super Team is great for the sport and hopefully wakes up some of these sleeping owners in other franchises, plus would be cool to have another team like the 1980s-2000s Yankees.
Thank you for commenting correct information. 70 million a year. Lol, OP just posting up incorrect information.
Don't forget endorsement income
Right people are acting like he was getting 70mil and he is really only getting 30-40 mil
If the Dodgers are smart with investments, this will not be a big deal for them.
The Mets were heavily invested with Bernie Madoff and because of this they thought Bobby Bonilla's deffered payments(with 8% interest) would be no big deal...
@@fairchildcreek
Not a fan of capitalism are you?
Great time to be a dodgers fan
7 years from now maybe not.
@@HOZTILE Our farm is always top ten every year, lol, so it's sustainable.
Enjoy drinking 30 dollar beers at Dodger stadium now lol.
You mean a CHOKER fan .
As a dodger fan we have one of the best lineups but our main problem is the rotation that’s our only problem
Bullpen is no surprise sus but Kershaw has to go and Roberts won’t leave til after 2025
@@therealjaystone2344 Bullpen had the third best era in baseball in the second half of the season, so it's pretty solid.
Also, it's anchored by Phillips(2.05 ERA, 61 1/3 IP, 66 K's, 24 SV), Graterol(1.20 ERA, 67 1/3 IP, 48 K's), and Ferguson(3.43 ERA, 60 1/3 IP, 70 K's). Pretty good trio of arms.
Teams that win a title typically go through 8-10 starters in the season and playoffs. If they reduce how many pitchers a team can carry, it would greatly change the current game.
We're getting Gonslin, May and Buehler back this season. We're good bro. Trust
@@davidgutierrez4606 Gonsolin's done for the year, so he won't be back.
As far as landscape of the MLB going forward, this huge deal will only change things slightly. Remember not so long ago when the Mets decided to break the bank to put a winning team on paper well how did that turn out? In order to build a winning culture, it does not matter what kind of market you have, you need to build a foundation from the ground up to win. That means drafting and developing well. The Tampa Bay Rays have shown alittle of what could be the potential of that mindset. Winning is what ultimately attracts the stars.
part of the whole reason he’s so great is because he can pitch, without out it, he’s just Matt Olson
As a fellow Red Sox fan, I enjoyed this video. I just subscribed to your channel. You made a ton of good points.
Glad you enjoyed brother! 🔥
They will have to make a move to have space for Kelly and Ohtani but besides that, yes they should make another move for starting pitching. It was a huge weakness we all saw on display in the NLDS. That and a bat who has no problem in the bright lights.
They already had their young pitchers going to get better but Kershaw has to go.
@@therealjaystone2344 I wish I can agree with their young pitching core being all they need as they all showed a lot of promise, but as last year’s injury report and early NLDS hooks proved, ya can never have enough quality starting pitching.
Great, a video game lineup. I for one will be on the edge of my seat with bated breath waiting to see if they will win 16-4 or 17-4. Cannot wait.
Crazy thing about the tax thing...since nearly all his money is deferred, it won't be taxed until then, so even though he lives in LA now, he can "move" to Texas, Florida, at the "end" therefore taxed in that state rather than Cali. Aka NO income tax at all....... plus the Dodgers get to keep the interest made on that deferred money over the 10+ years.
Yamamoto is next! Go Dodgers!!!💙💙💙
They need to sign 2 more pitchers... I think Yamamoto is coming to the Dodgers
Yes i agree because that's why Ohtani deferred some of his salary so they could add him to the team soon.
I really think that really helps both of them - Yamamoto's transition to MLB, and Ohtani's rehab.
I know many people could see this coming, and I would be mildly shocked if it didn't happen.
Yamamoto is going to Boston
What makes you think that?@@zeus0710
@@zeus0710😂🤣🤡. Boston huh.
The Dodgers lineup looks like an All-Star team.
Exactly lmao
there lineup does but there pitching looks like triple A
The Braves lineup is an All-Star Team.
@@jiimbow Not even a knock on the team, lol.
Pepiot has 50 career IP and is 26.
Miller is 24 and just had a solid rookie season.
Sheehan is 24 as well and didn't even pitch in AAA. Dodgers called him straight up from AA.
Stone started like three games, a literal cup of coffee, for the Dodgers, and is 25.
I'm pretty sure they've got one of the youngest, if not THE youngest rotation in baseball.
The Rangers lineup is still the best.
What would happen to my Angels team now? Ohtani made me an Angels fan and I still an angels fan. But i'm also a Dodgers fan now. ;-)
Ohtani is more than a MLB player, he's a brand and he will bring in more than $700m for the Dodgers throughout his contract. And other free agents who will want more because of Ohtani's $700m, the fact is, do they have the "revenue" production that Ohtani has?
trout vs ohtani now have a manga plot straight from Adachi Mitsuru classics...where the MC is in a relatively weak school while his main rival is in a hot shot school with generational talents...
We already had the confrontation in WBC. Ohtani struck out Trout for final out.
Currently in japan for vacation. In major cities hes plastered everywhere. A good amount of it is in his dodgers blue so it works here he is literally the main celebrity currently
Literally half an hour after the Ohtani news broke the first series in LA was completely sold out
The Yankees vs dodgers matchup in June is going to be fun to watch for sure
Potential dynasty in L.A. now.
Yamamoto is next. Shohei is gonna recruit heavily. No team has this ability
Only other team that I Can see kinda recruit Yamamoto like that is the Mets cuz of senga
@@mariokart9227yea the Mets are another favorite for him. But if the dodgers are truly going all in and offer a relatively close deal to what everyone else is offering than I think Shohei recruitment will seal it. Senga is really good but Ohtani is just on a different level and way more allure obviously. Not unless Steve Cohen just goes bonkers and refuses to be outbid which is possible
Just imagine the NL MVP finalists being Betts, Freeman, and Ohtani.
One World Series win in how many years? Mega high priced players do not always equate to wins.
Ohtanis contract is an outlier.
He’s a Unicorn. So his contract will not affect other players negotiations. Imagine Snell saying “I want a bigger contract bcuz I’m like ohtani ” 😂
They still have the money to bring in another big free agent though I don’t think Jung Hoo Lee would want to team up with Ohtani. Maybe Yamamoto.
He's not getting paid $70M a year. The deal is structured backend heavy.
The Dodgers need 2 quality starters for sure. They will still spend and have plenty of farm talent to trade. But heck they won 100 games last season with the worst Dodgers starting rotation in the last 10 years so maybe they don't need much.
The Braves also won over 100 games with a not great starting rotation. But like the Dodgers fell apart when it mattered most.
@@blairmcbride5437 Yeah it seems starting pitching is a key to the post season. However, this year Mookie and Freddie only getting 2 hits between them didn't help either.
the last time Ohtani had his TJ. he wasn't out for 1 year, he was about for almost 2 full years from pitching. I don't expect him to be on the mound at full strength until 2026. but the TV deals, Japanese ads around the stadium, and Japanese TV ad money that involves any LA dodger logos will all pay forward to his salary, I highly doubt the Dodgers lose any money in this deal.
They lose by thinking him as a DH for 2 whole years is gonna move the needle
You forgot to mention the fact that the Astros cheated and still had to go to game 7 to win the World Series. Also, there was talk about the Red Sox doing something similar. So that could have been THREE WORLD SERIES RINGS.
No alibis your team got hammered and that’s that . Don’t bother about that pandemic series, everyone knows that was a disgrace to MLB . The only time they won was in your dreams.
@@robertlosasso4222alibis? When a team knows what you're about to throw, I would think that's a pretty good alibi. Also, I just checked. The 2020 MLB season still crowned a champion. Keep crying.
@@melntess Why don’t you dry up .
I'd like to point out that the Dodgers for all their wins in the regular season, have only won, one title, in a 60 game season, where they didn't have to travel out of their own back yard. I wouldn't start the victory parades just yet, they are still the Dodgers.
Well that’s why they got Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Glasnow.
The Dodgers get Bueller back also.
We shall see if Roberts manages the team better and paces and rests players so they are fresh and ready to go in post season.
No baseball franchise has the secret formula. Baseball is not like basketball or football.
There is no way the 1988 Dodgers should have beaten the Mets or A’s but they did.
Dodgers nation is just like lakers nation the best. 😊
Bro has a gross misunderstanding of the dodgers free agency track record under Friedman. The highest value was for Pollock until they got Freddie who was cast away by the Braves by trading for Olson. And now clearly they broke the bank for Ohtani. Fix the narrative, as critical as I am of the dodgers at least portray what happened right now
Roberts was not "blabbing". He answered a question that was asked.
And this is before Yamamoto and Glasnow
Dodgers BOUGHT the best baseball team on paper. But that doesn't always translate.
The Dodgers need to make things right and bring back vindicated Bauer.
Maybe the dodgers can resurrect Ty Cobb, Hank Aaron and Joe DiMaggio to play for them too.
Dodgers will sign Yamamoto and trade for Glasnow.
The Dodgers is now an all star team.
‘Where have you gone Syohei Ohtani our Halos turns its lonely eyes to you
You're half right about the taxes. Professional athletes have to file taxes in each state they play in. So the away games will be taxed differently than home games.
The Dodgers could pick up Bauer again for relatively cheap. Apparently his jerseys are now available again.
AND they got the fountain of youth and the 2nd best pitching lab behind the Rays
It’s like Roy Hobbs in The Natural but in real life. Ohtani is the actual natural.
Pitching! Pitching! Pitching! The lineup could be great, but it takes pitching to win.
They have 1 pitcher and the rest are coming off of serious arm injuries. They are not the best and im a Dodgers fan! They have Bobby Miller and Walker Buehler who is coming off his 2nd tommy john. The rest are hurt.
Everyone keeps talking about how high his yearly salary is without acknowledging that most of his contract is deferred (according to Jeff Passan). He will most likely get an average of less than 50 per year (before taxes) and the rest will be paid out for decades. Still... wow!
Yep! I pointed the Tax aspect of his contract out in the video. Absolutely insane!
@@PurelyBaseballYT California is a total tax rip-off for what we get. They charge us to death and care more about immigrants than tax paying citizens. It is a true scam...☺
Another part of signing Ohtani, that I've yet to see anyone talk about (that adds significant value) is that when he's pitching and batting, he essentially opens up another roster spot to carry another relief pitcher or bench player. That is huge. And adds value, beyond just his play on the field.
@@jimmyrepine8952 I never even thought of that. Very good point
Loop 3:32-34 and that will tell the tale and everything you need to know about the future of this dodgers team.
If I was their coach I’d cry
The Dodgers are definitely at least the 3rd best team in the NL for next year at least. They sort of that rotation and then maybe they can be the best
Or maybe they'll fold like a cheap suit.
☝️😆👍
They suck .
Blue Jays are going to be dogshit this year, I’m just mentally preparing to be let down after every game
You are wrong about the taxes. He can also claim the signing bonus in Seattle. There are ways!
Money money money can only get you so far... dodgers are the perfect example of this
Now I know the cardinals rematch will pay me
Amazing what a roster you can put together when MLB lets you ignore CBT.
That makes zero sense, salty.
They said he won't pitch in 2024. Expensive hitter to say the least. Congrats to Ohtani. They are doing some salary deferment on his request, likely for tax planning.
glorified *DH*
The spending money thing does feel a bit unfair, and I don't know how it is in the MLB with luxury taxes, but as long as teams are willing to pay even those luxury taxes, MLB is just gonna open their bag for teams to pour the money in and look the other way. The one thing MLB has going for it is that even with a super team it's far from a guarantee to win the world series with baseball being a highly luck dependant game and the difficulty and layers of the MLB playoffs especially nowadays. Still, the Dodgers basically have to win 100+ games or a ring and anything less will be a failure with this much talent and cash spent.
That’s how bad they suck they announce they got 325,000,000 on the pitcher mound and they let slop hit it
You misspelled “bought”
If Yamamoto goes to Dodgers… it’s over!
It's not building, its buying
Shohei is the baseball version of KD at this point.
context?
Too bad they won’t get past the second round of the playoffs.
the LA dodgers bought the best team in baseball
Where will Bauer sign?
The Dodgers *bought the best team in baseball.
There fixed it for you.
Dodgers need to trade for Trout. Restructure his contract for 400mil with 200 mil deferred.
They humiliated me big time
Alright so hear me out… I know imma get hate BUUUT I don’t care the dodgers do NOT have the best lineup, I ain’t saying that it’s bad (the top 3 players Betts, Ohtani, and Freeman, might literally be the best trio ever) however a teams lineup consists of 9 players, not just 3. The rest of their players are mediocre at best and there pitching staff needs work. Not saying their not elite, but Betts and Freeman can’t keep carrying the whole team on there backs. With Ohtani signed it will lighten the load a good bit, but not enough to dominate the playoffs. Besides, baseballs a wild game, you never know what’ll happen next.
Ya got it wrong, old son! Babe Ruth was THE FIRST BABE RUTH!
Never wager them too win a game
I feel sorry for Trout…
ohtani will likely be playing the outfield while rehabbing his elbow. look it up.
My Braves are going to beat the Dodgers in every meeting and in every way this season, just like we did last year. The Dodgers just spent a billion just to be second place. God bless em!!!
Have you heard of Emmett Sheehan.
Of course. Such a weird spot for the Dodgers, so much talent. Not enough spots in the rotation lol
A team that spends the most is the best team in the league? Wow! Get back to me when they can win while cutting their payroll substantially. I used to love Magic Johnson, I despise him now.
They don’t claim la they claim New York dodgers
Get Yamamoto’s deal, seal the fate of all others

Sucks to say but bellinger is a blue jay
For the taxes you have to factor in the deferrals, gives him a tax break

I love that the Dodgers signed Ohtani. It's going to take first round postseason exits to a whole new level lol! The memes will be EPIC.
Lol, he's not making 70 million a year. Come on, putting up vids with incorrect information. Most of his contract is deferred. Like Bobby Bonilla he'll get paid for 30+ years after he retires.
