People target young apexes because of just how powerful they are as adults, better to kill them while they're weak then have them rampaging as adults. But all in all the Duck is easily one of the most balanced creatures in the game; It can run from what it can't fight (well), and it can fight what it can't outrun. I just wish its diet made it an actual omnivore, instead of chosing one or the other

I don't know what difference people think it makes by killing juvenile in hopes of preventing more adult versions of that animal. Maybe that works in real life in the ecosystems of reality, but people in the game will inevitably grow plus others who grind this will have adults easily. The only way people would prevent adult animals would be if the behavior of other players are so obscene or irritating that people get turned off the game altogether. That would stop adult animals from being grown haha! That would be unfortunate
Duck = hippos of path of titans. Almost all duck players will chase off carnos and only kill for territory, self defense, or because the carnivore looked at him funny.
I know this video is old but as a duck main I wanted to come back and say with the new water movement updates and the speed buffs all the semi aquatics have gotten, Sarcos are easy to fight in the water and spinos can be a challenge but most haven’t been able to kill my duck in the water. It’s a monster underwater now
do you recommend a speed defense or balanced build
@@treweddle8012 I like defense personally, double defense duck is faster than double defense spino in the water but if I am going defense duck I usually run streamlined for water combat as you get better performance and can dance circles around sarcos and spinos
The KOS is real with this one. I played amarg for a long time and died maybe 3 times to KOS on my way to adult. This guy, I've had back to back deaths on, literally died 10+ time trying to grow him so far and I haven't even reached adulthood yet! Literally only because I've died so many times and lost so much growth. I went from almost subadult to 0 growth in one sitting because I was killed 3 times. After that I just logged out. I honestly think it's just easier to log out in a cave and then grow XP that way.
Iv never played the duck but iv seen a few and they are quite terrifying. Iv seen them easily handle sacro spino and rexs solo. I mostly play allo and albert so i usually keep my distance iv never gone out of my way to fight a duck. Best duck fight i saw was a duck killing 2 sacro by himself.
I coulda killed the duck at that point he was low and he was laying on land in plain view of me but i honestly couldnt bring myself to do it cause he just slapped 2 sarco im like he deserves the W lol. Def makes me wanna try out the duck but i enjoy speed alot. Might try it some day haha

I've played the duck and i killed 2 sarcos,1 metri and one cera that they attacked me.He is pretty strong.You can kill anything even a trike but careful with rexes.
@@dadoprado208 If it is 1v1 a duck can also clap a sarco in water quite easily if it stays on it's back or bottom most of the time
A duck can even be able to use it's superior turning radius against spinos in water and kite them too
Highly recommend playing on Gondwa as the deinocheirus. You want to be near water as much as possible. Gondwa is a much more aquatic friendly map.
I main the duck and no single dino messes with me. Sometimes a pair will attempt to hunt me but if they are rex's I just go in the water spinos I just run away on land anything else I stand and fight and have had great success defending myself from allos and suchos

Didn't watch much of this because I just started playing one this afternoon and don't want to spoil the experience, but from what I've seen in my time as a juvenile, the thing must be a beast given that carnivores who aren't twice my size are avoiding me like the plague.
Wait, so is it only herbs that can change their abilities on the fly like this?
The way I pronounce it (which is the way my dino buff friend said it) is Die-no-Kai-rus. I've also heard Die-no-Cheer-us, but that seems way less common from my inner circles.
You should do your favourite dino from each category eg strength defence speed
Few days ago me and my sarco team 1 adult 1 sub (me) and one baby all attacked one duck killed everyone except me because I managed to hide after a few hits (almost dead)

I love the duck. The duck is an absolute unit.
Fat reserves I would choose on the Anodontasaurus because its much harder for Carnivores to starve you out and you're not going to be running away that much anyway

Don't waste your time on amarga, i've wasted 2 week on amarga just to find out he is reality the worsr dino in the game
Grow multiple Dino’s at a time and use home cave buff safely and rotate your growth time until you’ve reached confident size to explore the map(don’t store more than one Dino at the same home cave)
1 thing I don't like is how slow it is to get from sitting position. I think my Rex gets all the way up from laying position as fast as my duck gets up just from sitting.
If only it could handle other Apexs well. Sarco and Spino in water it can usually do well again, but on land obviously Sarco loses but it’s more in the Spinos favor on land. Eo and Rex both destroy Ducky though. Eo has no headshot multiplier, does more damage, and has better turn. Rex just deletes Duck though. One bone break and the Duck just can’t hit the Rex due to how fucked up your hit box is. Also the damage of Ducky isn’t too good, lowest of any Apex actually. Only 20 for the Tail and Bite, 60 on the claws. Spino does 30 for the Tail, 65 and .5x Bleed on the Claws, and 70 on the bite. Eo does 70 with the Headbutt, 30 on the tail, and 120 with the charge and don’t forget Sharpened Horns. Rex does 80 damage per bite and 30 with the tail along with Tyrants Roar. Sarco has 50 on the Normal Bite, 210 with the Charge bite, and 25 with 1.5x bleed with Ripping Bite. I do think it is somewhat worth it because the water mobility and aquatic combat with Ducky is insane, but on average it just doesn’t do enough to deter any predators around the same size as it. I will say with Duck the only 2 things I would change is the claw hit box and have them do bleed as well. Those are 12 inch claws, them doing no bleed is just kinda stupid.
Edit: I forgot Bars existed but it still does better damage, 55 with the Headbutt, 75 on the Tail Slam, 30 on tail swing, 10 on Bite.

Hey amazing I was a duck today I was fending off 6 raptors I ended up killing two! Lmao then a trike came in to help by mix packing 😂 so I retreated to water he ended up following me like a idiot lmao so I hurt him enough that he retreated I ended up logging off cus another trike came and they were mad af lmao idc I don’t like unfair fights haha

Since u don't know I'll let you know, its pronounced at the start same as Deinonychus and Deinosuchus "Die-No-Kai-rus" that's pretty much it. Thus far I'm loving the Killer Goose, it's just massive even when it's not passed Juvenile, I survived a run in with three Cerato juveniles by killing all three with help from a second goose that showed up just as I spawned in the starting area. Then a pachy tried to kill me a day later and almost managed it except I hit water of a big lake and swam away like "Yeh F**k you too!" as I laughed doing circles in the water.

The only thing I hate is the diet system. Duck boy over here is an omnivore! There's no fucking reason to change its diet system! If the devs stuck to the old diet system, then Deinocheirus would be in a much better state.

Duck is not worth it. As an Official PVP player; they suck. Yes, they have decent health and stuff, they're AMAZING tanks, but they were nerfed SO hard. Their cooldowns on attacks are super long, their damage was severely reduced (but they do still do good damage, don't underestimate those claws!) they are the weakest apex of any of them. They are a 5 slot that is weaker than the bars, which is a 4 slot. The duck is the slowest apex, it is okay on land, but if you see a Rex and there's no water nearby? Gg bro, have a nice night. If you're in the water sarcos will shred you, you're not agile enough to swing yourself around to fight them. You have to fight semi-aquatics on land unless you're a mad-lad.
Fisher is horrible for the ducks, it forces you to stay by the water and if you feel the need to go inland, you're screwed on food. While fisher carnivores can still eat meat and find corpses or hunt as a last resort, ducks can not. As a Fisher duck, you're at the mercy of the water quality, and if you're not streamlined, your oxygen is dog shit. They're a semi-aquatic that can't stay under water.
If you're herbivore, be prepared to eat and drink like EOs, you'll ruin resources. Fat reserves is okay, all things considered. I recommend it when in heavy, long combat so you don't need to retreat for food. As a solo, you'll be okay on a duck as long as you're very vigilant and avoid rexes at all costs.
