My suspicion is this might be the last we see of this hard touring format (4-5 nights a week for the better part of 3 straight months) for a few years, simply because they've mostly all got young families to be home with now too and hard touring takes its toll on that too. Also by the end of leg 2 you could tell their voices were pretty beat, though Joey did say he got sick somewhere in the middle of it, and Stu had a rough one just before that so maybe him too. They setup a career arc that'll carry them years with all the gifts they gave us this tour. Can already see a more relaxed schedule for next year that gives them a break between shows and didn't get packed with rock shows in every city in every gap. I think we'll see a bit of a return to the more prolific writing of 2020-2022 as a result, and with that more deep dives into new territories. As for live, I think we'll see more residency series like last US and upcoming Europe that are logistically and physically easier to pull off for the same number of shows. They have a fan base largely willing to travel for long sets at bucket list venues, and they have no problem filling them for it. Gorge was their biggest show ever. Red Rocks always sells out, if FOV isn't the new staple. They've done it in Chicago. 5 nights in SoCal this leg. Forest Hills seems to be a new fave. Austin wasn't sold out but must have nearly been. And when the kids aren't so little, they'll be back at it like this I'm sure.
They don't do encores so they can go right up to curfew (or over if it's a soft curfew). Part of why Stu has a clock on his pedal board. Fan service is giving us our money's worth and not making us beg for more. My voice is already blown by the 2nd hour, im sorry im not gonna be able to scream for you.
I will also say, that after watching the streams night after night, I can safely say these b741 songs are all solid. Not a weak track at all. Paper Mache has a handful of great tracks, b741 every single song is a banger. Total ear worms. I liked it from the beginning, but they have grown on me even more after watching the shows.
These boys are loose cannons. What’s a breath of fresh air. I hope they continue to break the mold. I will admit that I had trouble sitting through their ENTIRE show. They are very intense. I am learning more of their stuff and becoming a bigger fan. This stuff takes time. Let it all evolve. 💥

I thought we wouldnt see you till next year! Awesome bud. Yeah bro we need them to go for the long haul so 5-6 days a week leaves no time to Party! They need to party to be King Gizz. Love you dude, I'll have some awesome KGLW material on my channel soon!
Sturgill Simpson did marathons all tour with no encore every show. Started at 8 over at 11. But the shows didnt vary much and they certainly arent putting forth the energy that gizz is every show
At this stage, the whole US as a country format, might be out the window. I will miss the Spinal Tap in the chat format of 'Goodnight Springdon, there will be no encore' if they do an encore.
@@spuddougherty7860spud&mrs spud always a pleasure to see you guys, and i'm always thinking of you. I wish you 2 the best and have a Happy Thanksgiving and happy Holidays. ✌️❤ - Dan Z -
I'm not sure if the traditional "2 sets and encore" set up is exactly good for the band in the immediate future. For one, they hard ever play encores certainly these days, and the band already tried doing the 2 set idea with the early marathon shows in 2022 (and 2020 before COVID said hi). Granted, I don't recall where I got this paraphrase, so take it with a grain of salt, but I'm pretty sure the band saw intermission as momentum killers when they might as well just play three hours straight, and I think it's worked in their favor (see Chicago, L.A., etc.). The openers, however, I can see not being a thing anymore, but I doubt Gizz would want to do that. They're too supportive of other bands to not want to tour with them and shout them out in their own sets (plus Geese was terrific live when I saw them in D.C.) I'd also be down for more King Gizz recaps of older shows, whether it's through the bootlegs on the Internet Archive, or the other shows found on the "bootleg gizzard" series that the band runs.
"Ice Death Planets Lungs Mushrooms Lava" That's the name of their jammiest album. Also some individual jam songs are "Head On Pill and Float Along Fill Your Lungs
Enjoyed the Gizzard speculation! After watching your show recaps, I felt a slight “dis” toward Cookie. Guess I was wrong! Cookie keeps the songs moving along for the rest of the band. He’s a team player, and adds to the Gizz magic. Interesting vocals too.
OK now that I've finally gotten to a show, I feel qualified to comment 😁 Not sure what the set lists will look like, but I think they need to ditch opening acts. Perhaps the table (or Nathan if you prefer) action will become a fixture and dare I say their own sort of Drums/Space (though I'd be far less likely to piss break during the table set). All I know is I'm going to the symphony show in CT, and then the "rock" show in Forest Hills that same week. Personally, I'm interested to see what songs get the symphonic treatment. I guess once we know, we'll know seeing as how those shows will be the same setlist each night. Also, as a Phish fan as well, I have to say that Gizz is the band that I would make more of an effort to see (hell, I flew from NY to FL to see 'em last week). Make the Gizz setlist recaps a regular fixture! BOOM! 👊🏽 💥
love King Gizz, one of my favorite bands. But I do find myself wishing that the performances of most songs varied more across different shows. Feels like outside of their main jammy ones like The River, the other mainstay songs tend to be very similar. Sure there is improvisation on them but they don't feel to take on a new life,. In this current format I don't feel like I'm getting much more by listening to or attending 10 shows than I am listening to 3 (save for maybe a rarity, bustout or abnormal jam). But maybe that's just me trying to Phish-ify them more and I should just be happy with what we are getting lol
Or Frank Zappa or any other rock band with an amazing library of albums. Jambands didn't create 2 set shows. And ftr, I hate encores. I have multiple videos crying about shiddy, pointless phish encores. This isn't about Phish
You have zero sense of humor. Jokes aren't skander. Are you 12 or just slow? No friends? You're dull and getting blocked next time you say something stupid

Not sure what they have been doing is sustainable forever. Ambrose is a busy guy...check out the GUM album he is a part of for instance. The marathon set (I've seen 2) vs the traditional set (I've seen 1) is far superior of an experience. I like that they separated the rave set into a special night. I predict streams won't be free forever. King sting ray sucked.

Good thoughts
Im a fan of skipping the encore... such a ceremonial part of the show, seems so silly. I hope they dont switch to doing encores!

I disagree about the Flight b741 material becoming rare. It seems like a big development in their songwriting.

I had the opposite experience. I thought it went way too fast.
An ENTIRE 2 hours? Might as well study to solve world hunger. Im dissapointed you Wasted out time.
I really hope Gizz does anything besides fit themselves into the jamband mold. 2 sets and an encore is for grandpas.

Laminated Denim is a Gizzard “jam” EP, essentially. Two 15 minute jam song vehicles.

You gotta listen to Thee Oh Sees! They are the guys who gave KGLW their first record deal in the states and are just as good live!
Why would they change what’s working. My opinion is that they would have done it this tour
It's working now. They aren't staying where they are. It might not work in the future.
