In a democracy the politician with the best PR firm is elected, public opinion is derived from the media and the media works as the HR arm of big corporate. Anything that is publicly traded must adhear to the desires of the investors and the nature of fiat currency is to compound over time. Due to this nature those few with means early on will eventually own/control everything, including that politician who has the commercials you really like.

@@ronin3381 I was under the impression they lasted about as long as each other. Biggest difference is one transitioned to a stronger federal government with an emphasis on military and the other... well I don't actually know what happened to Disney's NR because their movies stink and barely even mention them, but it seems like literally their capitol and the entire system around it was destroyed, so that probably got MOST of their government. Have to imagine they had even worse succession issues than the 12 Colonies giving the presidency to the secretary of education.

Movies or book?
What is suggested in the book would only work on a global scale and requires military leadership actually interested in the wellbeing of all humanity, not lining their own pockets like every military government I can think of.
Movie version is a complete waste.

Well done. I enjoyed the in-universe look at things. We as fans often take for granted of our omnipotence of all things in a fandom universe, from the outside looking in. Your analysis of the events of the prequels make it clear that the prequels are also a warning to America about the slippery slope into despotism (something I have thought aobut before but not as clear as this video lays it out to be), I have newfound appreciation for Lucas once again. Thank you.
Again great job, but would love a Legends universe version of this video, just so much more great lore. Legends wise I think of the Old Republic as a cross between NATO and the UN. I find the many different sovereign planets, their militaries, empires, and the associated noble intrigue between the Ancient or Great Houses just much more interesting than what the new canon has thus far. Not to mention many of the Legends elements regarding the Clone Wars as well.

You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. So it was with the fall of the Old Republic, and the birth of the First Galactic Empire; a birth born in death and fire.
The politics was a bit boring to watch during the prequals, but so incredible important to the overall story-arc and worldbuilding. The new movies have practically zero world-building.
I rather liked the political nature of the prequels I wish it had more battles with clones tho

I barely slept last night due to circumstances so i worked 10 hours with less than 2 hours of sleep but hey templin institute uploaded a new video so i guess I'll stay up for another hour.
I really like how in every video you touch on the themes that are most prominent in the source material of its subject. That is one of the things that, I believe, elevates Templin above other lore channels and into something unique.

It was reorganized following a war with the Sith order 1000 years before the events of Ep1 This was called the Ruusan Reformations and it dismantled the JEDI'S military and the Republic Military instead giving power the the Judicials and the Sector Militia's

Darth Vader really didn't like that, and had no tolerance for incompetent officers
The final words in this video say a lot, nothing has been learned from the history of the galaxy in these movies. The new republic failed cause it tried to be the republic again, the first order will fail cause they are trying to be the empire again. Even Kylo and his views on killing the past aren’t enough, imitating the past or destroying it won’t do, learning from it will.
